It took some time for the cabin to warm up with the wood stove. This cabin is a good place to start when doing winter hiking.

This cabin is so excellent! Seems to have been insulated since my last visit and new wall boards. I had 2 6-yr-old boys with me and the temp never went below 60 degrees. The wood supply was the best. This place is remote enough to feel the wilderness but close enough to civilization to feel safe. The cleanliness was a pleasant surprise and we were proud to leave it better than we found it.

Radeke cabin is a very special place! Thank you NFS for preserving this gem! The cabin is cozy even with the limited amount of amenities hence the reason why it is booked throughout the year!Please enjoy as much as I did!

Location, location, location! Basic facility with a very decent outhouse. Wide front porch useful for cooking. The whole cabin will require renovations soon.

Always a good time at the cabin. We had a couple first timers and they loved it. Had the entire Kanc to ourselves because it washed out and they closed it down. So quiet!!!

Cabin was in great shape for our arrival. The new addition of Spray foam insulation and tounge and groove pine boards holds heat in the cabin substantially. for years it was very drafty and cold. Very impressed at the ongoing maintenance to this ole girl!

This was probably myself and my friends 20th time staying here. We Always have a great time as there is no cell phone service do we can enjoy all there is to offer at and around the cabin. The wood stove keeps the place at an easy toasty 70 degrees. And easy walk down to the river 2-3 times a day is so relaxing and hiking tge UNH trail across the street is a beautiful hike. Plenty of space in the cabin to move around and not feel crowded. Huge front covered porch makes sitting out in any weather great. Can't wait until next time...

No problems encountered.... Rangers stopped by to ensure all was well. Being winter/February snowshoeing was the only activity.

We had a great stay at Radeke, but if you come in the winter, BE PREPARED FOR THE COLD! When we arrived at 11 pm on Friday, it was -22 degrees outside (not windchill). Inside the cabin it was 20 degrees and unfortunately the wood burning stove is dramatically undersized for the cabin. It took us 2 hours and a lot of wood to get the inside up to 40 degrees in the main room. Forget sleeping on the bunks in the winter because they are so far from the stove. I would highly recommend a 0-20 degree sleeping bag and plenty of layers if it's supposed to be cold. It's a very quaint cabin and a really fun, rustic stay. However, I think the Forest Service should raise the rates to fund a newer, more efficient stove to heat the room in the winter. A lot of the heat seems lost up the flue and the inside just never seems to heat up.

The Radeke Resort was wonderful, accommodations were superb, the Spa was the best, and the couples massage outstanding! I've been there a dozen times

Stayed during winter. This prime hiking area is breathtakingly beautiful. The large cabin itself seems neglected. The small holes in the back roof may be where the rodents enter that some guests complain of. You must keep all food in a closed container but that is to be expected for a rustic experience. There is however a difference between rustic and dilapidated. The cabin is in disrepair. Several glass windows are broken and taped up with duct tape. The doors are not much better. Besides the provided wood, the cabin is not serviced by the forest service during the winter and it was extremely dirty. It is definitely not cleaned by every guest as requested. The furniture in the living room is disgusting but your dog may appreciate that. The cabin sits less then 100 ft off of the KANCAMAGUS. It was peaceful during the winter. It must be terribly noisy during the summer high traffic.

The cabin was everything we expected and more. It was the perfect location for a weekend getaway with the fellas. Close to the Swift River for swimming and relaxing. Having no cell reception was great and really allowed you to forget the world around you.

I have been to Radeke cabin well over 3 dozen multi night trips closing in on 20 years. I am glad to see the rate increases have gone to capital improvements and will continue. This a very special place that needs to be preserved. I hope those who rent this will take care of this sweet spot in the middle of the Kanc! KP Portland Me.

We have been driving past this cabin for years. What a fantastic place. Plenty of room for everyone and it's furnished!!! Plan ahead for the darkness. We had to start turning on battery lights early afternoon. The fire pit out back is where we spent a lot of time. Take care walking down to the river. Don't miss the turn or you will end up in the neighboring campground. Would be a great place in winter.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
