Quiet, out of the way. Outstanding scenery. Clean campground. Plenty of room between sites, yet close enough for friends to get together. Friendly camp hosts. We always enjoy our stay here.

We have utilized this (once) beautiful campground many times over the years. Our past trip (August 2024) was a real disappointment. Trees had been cut down or had fallen with very little cleanup at the lakeside. We kayak, bike, and hike and the shoreline provided very little access to the campground due to the trees left. Hopefully next year when we visit, there will be much clean up done. In addition, we thought we were lucky to find a camp spot in August and quickly reserved it, but when we got there, about 80% of the park was empty through the entire summer weekend with reserve signs at each and no occupants. Why can't this system be improved? We could have had any other campsite because they are not updated from the online environment. A new system for cancelations is definitely needed.

We love to come here. The campgound is quiet and well maintained. I like to fish from my kayak and this is a good place for that. The lake is usually windy in the afternoons, but the mornings are typically calm which makes for good kayaking. It's a very popular campground so plan on making a reservation early in the year.

The Good: Excellent location with a great view of Mt. Thielsen and incredible proximity to Diamond Lake. Very well maintained campground with easy to navigate routes, a fair a mount of trench bathrooms, and plenty of shade from the trees. The campsites are well spaced and allow for interaction with neighbors while still maintaining your privacy. Each campsite could easily accommodate up to three tents.The Bad: Mosquitos, mosquitos, mosquitos!!! The amount of insects and mosquitos specifically is almost unbearable. Myself and my partner were littered with bites even after using the strongest repellent (98.11% Deet) that we could buy. There are also an innumerable amount of gnats. The site lacks showers facilities as well.Verdict: I would choose Diamond Lake or Broken Arrow campground if I were to return to this area.

Camp host was awesome and its a great area but we wont be back. We could barely stand to be outside due to the mosquitoes. We had no idea they would be so bad. I counted 30 welts on my legs and I had long pants on. Our dog got bit too and had three bumps on her face. We had all the mosquito repellents activated as well. If you go, make sure to bring a mosquito net!

my favorite place in the cascades, noticed a lot of empty camp sites with reserved signs.

As others have said, no camp host. However, location was gorgeous and we had a wonderful time. Easy to walk from loop c to the lake shore. Close to crater lake. Vault toilets were almost completely full at the time so hopefully they empty them soon.

Great Diamond lake cg - hiker so easy access to both thielsen and Bailey. Quiet, mostly. Too many generators only downside
@TammyH7586506 · Camped on Aug 13, 2023 at Campsite #A9
The sites in the A loop were well spaced with privacy and great Lake access. The view is incredible and just a short drive to Crater Lake. Cell reception was spotty, it worked lakeside but not always in our campsite. The host was great, bathrooms were clean and the lodge close by was nice for restocking ice and drinks. There is a ton of wood around that was dry and easy to collect for fires. A bear that came through at night and knocked over the trash, but didn't bother people at all.

Attended a wedding in the area so I reserved a spot here for the night about 6 wk in advance. It was the last spot available so I wasnt expecting an ideal site. I was delighted to find a beautiful, private spot with fire ring and picnic table, near enough (but not too close) to the restroom and right across from the lake. Had a small path from my site to the shore and was able to take my chair and enjoy the sunrise there. Fellow campers were respectful of noise and curfews. Only thing to be aware of is the ground squirrels. They are bold and they are everywhere. I had one climb up under the hood in the morning but since it was so early I couldnt yell or bang on the car to get him to leave! He was eventually convinced it was in his best interest to move on. A closer inspection of the site revealed many burrows, so do be sure and bring food inside your vehicle. No electricity at site. Restroom is just a toilet (no sink) and there are no showers. I wasnt bothered by bugs. There were some bees at the shore, but they were doing their bee thing in the plants and not bothering anyone. All in all, it was a great place to stay.

The camp host was very helpful. Barking dogs were annoying.

Beautiful view and very quiet. The bugs were out and about, but if you are into deep woods camping, this is the place for you. We stopped for just one night and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Vault bathrooms were clean. No cell service.

Good experience @ TV Cmpgnd. Dusty but nicely spaced sites.

Diamond Lake is a beautiful setting and the campground provides sufficient separation between the sites to allow campers to enjoy the peace and calm that is created by the lake's surroundings. Easy access to Crater Lake National Park also affords a number of memorable sights and activities. Overall, ours was a wonderful experience.However, there were a few detracting issues. First, mosquitos were prevalent during much of the day. I highly recommend a screen house/tent for your leisure time outside. Second, the campground was without a host during our stay. The bathrooms were serviced once during the five days we stayed at the campground. Campers were taking their own provisions to the restroom after the stocked toilet paper ran out on our second night. My family and I camp every year, this is the first time we have ever stayed at a National Forest campground where it was not, at least minimally, serviced by staff on a daily basis. Disappointing.

Beautiful! Yes, lots of mosquitos. But great location, lovely. There was no camp host, though, which would have been a good addition.

Thielsen view is a nice campground on Diamond Lake. Most of the campsites don't have a direct view of the lake and Mt Thielsen, but it's only a short walk/drive to the boat launch area where the views are stupendous! We were here in late July (campsite A18) and really enjoyed it. The campground was relatively full but everyone was courteous when it came to noise. Would definitely come back here. Definitely bring bug spray or Thermacells in July/early August as mosquitoes are prevalent.

Friendly Fish and Wildlife staff spoke with me and my grandson explaining their work. Clean well taken care of site.Unfortunately several empty unused campsites. It would be nice to figure out a way to force cancellations so the sites could be used. I am sure you are working on that.
@MichaelD829846 · Camped on Jul 17, 2023 at Campsite #4
As a tent camper, its frustrating not to be separated from RVs. It would be nice if there was a tent-only section and an RV section. One RV completely blocked my view of the lake, while the one next to me ran its generator all night long. im not sure why campsites are designed like sardine cans its really frustrating, as especially tent campers are looking for peace and quiet And doesnt everybody yearn for more privacy when they go camping? Instead, everyone is staring into each others business.

The site was miss information on vehicle size. Campground was clean and quiet. I’ve learned to review campsites better. It’s a learning process. They do seem to have issues with keeping up with toilet paper.

Beautiful location, nice large campsites. Clean sites and surroundings. Could be improved by having TP in bathrooms. In a week, we never saw a ranger, even in a drive-by, and no camp host available. A nearby group left four constantly barking dogs in site while they spent the day on the lake. Otherwise, the fireworks show was spectacular and greatly enjoyed and appreciated. Thank you.
@FredM6101334 · Camped on Jul 1, 2023 at Campsite #A13
Very nice and comfortable. The camping spaces are very well thought out and with all the trees, you are well isolated from the neighboring campers. The only drawbacks were the mosquitoes and that there isn't very good lake access for people without boats. Only a couple of areas.
@HeidiG1682452 · Camped on Jun 26, 2023 at Campsite #5
No host present at all. Intense amount of mosquitoes at 3pm. We couldn't even get our of the vehicle to access our camper. There were other spots that said reserved, but no one was there over night. We called and they said it was completely booked. We talked with another camper and they said the spot next to them was theirs but had been canceled and they never took down the sign. Don't you want people to camp when their are cancelations?
@TimO1315235 · Camped on Jun 26, 2023 at Campsite #A16
The on line reservation system showed this campground sites to be almost totally reserved. I lucked out to find mine a week before. But upon arrival and through my 4 day stay, the camp was less than 50% occupied with reserved tags on all sites. Something needs to be done to make no-show sites to be available.
@josephs9140090 · Camped on Jun 25, 2023 at Campsite #B7
Upon arrival on June 25th I found that someone was occupying my campsite B7 and was told that there was no reservation card posted. I proceeded to prove that I indeed had reservations for the site and after a long discussion I paid him the $30 fee had paid in the drop box so I could have my reserved space. I then informed two different ODF workers who took my information and said that they would have their supervisor contact me as soon as possible to discuss what had transpired. I still haven’t heard from them as to what if anything can be done to resolve the situation. Without having a camp host on site to assist me I did the best I could do to resolve his issue and then start my 13 day stay.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
