Tent pad is about 15 yards from parking spot and fire pit is another 10 or so past that. Little Cottonwood Creek is close by drowning out most campground noise and a very small creek is just a few feet north of the tent pad. It was a great camp site!

I enjoyed my stay greatly. The bathrooms were clean during my stay, having potable water and a flush toilet may not seem like a luxury item, until you camp with none of the above. The on-site shower house and laundry facilities were managed well during my stay. My fellow campers were patient with each other during peak usage times. The $5.00 shower usage fee was fair to me and the hot water never ran out!

The campground was lovely and the host, Lee, was really wonderful. I was at the end of 3 weeks of travelling and camping alone and he was really friendly, welcoming and helpful.

The site is not suitable for trailers. This was not clear from website. Sites are small and hard to back into for anything but a micro trailer. Roads are narrow with tight curves and big rocks beside road. WE tried to cancel a 4-day stay after arriving but had no lock doing so

Toilets were broken.

It's in a great location, close to the city, and mostly shaded. There were some bugs, but not too many in August. We booked site #29, which shares river access with site #30 and is a bit of a walk from the parking area, so keep that in mind. Next time, we'll go with site #28.
@JaronB905B9EAA · Camped on Jul 25, 2024 at Campsite #31
Water is still not working. Toilets are honey buckets. It's been 3 years since the avalanche. Seems like a lot to pay for a picnic table and a fire pit.

Really enjoyed this campsite. The campsite (30) is large and very secluded from other sites. There are 2 separate places for tents and separate areas where a fire can be built and a picnic table also with a fire pit.

No running water for drinking or for bathrooms. The portable toilets were basically filled to the brim with sewage. There were not any camp attendants. Aside from the above the site was great for a large group.

Beautiful site! Only issue is that the tent site isnt very big and our 16x8 ozark tent was too large but we made it work the best we could. This site connects to a small stream that meets up with the large river that runs through the canyon. This was a peaceful beautiful spot. No firewood in the area so bring plenty of your own.

I did not have a very good experience. Half of the campground was closed due to avalanche damage. I think it happened 2 winters ago (2022/2023). Damage still has not been fixed. Bathrooms were closed. Had porta-potties in their place. All the water was shut off so I had to bring my own.

Site was wonderful. Camp host was MIA for our entire trip- we tried to buy firewood from them but was unable to locate any firewood, we ended up driving back to the city to buy some. Plan to bring your own firewood.

Very pretty camping near the city. An avalanche had caused damage so the bathrooms were closed. Porta-potties were OK. Overall, we had a great time.

Great camp site with access to the river. The location of the tent pad was ideal as it was a bit away from the water, so it wasn't too loud. The fire pit was a bit deep into the ground (about 18" in part of the pit), and that made keeping the fire going a bit tricky. We saw a raccoon in our camp as the sun was setting so we made sure to put all food and garbage into the car at night. Overall a great campsite.

Thank you for the E-mail reminder of my reservation, It rained almost the whole time I was there still fun ... I would like to see running water and the bathroom up and going next time I go .

The was a water outage so portable toilets were set up. They smelled very bad by morning. The people in the campsite next to us were being unsafe with their campfire (too large, and they were holding branches over the fire until the branches lit up), and yelled and swore at each other all the way up until 1 or 2 AM. Also, in our site (26) there were no obvious places to put our tent. One open area was not flat, another open area was a bit too close to the campfire for our liking and was covered with lots of small branches (which we ended up removing), and then there was a third area down the trail between our site and another site which was not marked, making it unclear whether the pad belonged to us or the other campers. Those other campers (not the loud ones who I mentioned earlier) ended up walking over to our site to ask us that very question and we said it was okay with us if they just used it. Overall the experience definitely could have been better. It was beautiful though.

It was a good experience. Lots of room and bathrooms. Was not bothered by anyone.

Beautiful setting - campsites are tucked in and around the rushing creek. Signs caution against entering the water. Facilities seem like they have aged out and are in disrepair. Perhaps its a temporary measure, but portaloos are stacked in front of locked bathrooms. No drinking water access.

Tanners Flat is located in a fantastic area within a beautiful canyon (Little Cottonwood), but many / most of the campsites are situated in such dense trees that it's difficult to get much of a view of the surroundings. On the positive side, there's a fair amount of room between camp sites, so it's pretty quiet and private. On the not-so-positive side, it seems as though all the bathrooms have been out of commission for sometime, so campers currently only have access to portal potties without sinks. Overall, the primary campsite in Big Cottonwood (Spruces) is easily preferable, but this is still a nice place to stay.

Hey friends, did you know you can reserve really nice canvas tents at Tanners Flat Campground? Just go to https://www.recreation.gov/ to reserve. Tanners Flat is only about 4 miles up Little Cottonwood Canyon and it is beautiful! If you’re taking a trailer I recommend site #3,6 or 24. They’re located close to the river so it drowns out the road noise.

I love this campsite! I only wish that the Water and toilets were working. But I understand somethings are out of your control. Thank you!

We were told in advance that there would be no drinking water. We were surprised to find out that the restrooms were closed and replaced with Honey Buckets. I understand with the drought that there was no water for drinking and cleaning. However, we paid a very high price for this spot. We should get a prorated refund for an unimproved site. We’re at least should have been notified in advance of the restroom closure. We might have made other plans.
@JuliaE4720899 · Camped on Jul 12, 2022 at Campsite #30
Clean, private sites. Picnic table needed replacing. Portapotties were the only bathrooms available due to a water shortage.

The campground and campsite were good overall and there was cell phone service and dumpsters for trash. The one big negative about our stay here was that there wasn't any water service, which is one of the amenities they list as having. It was temporarily shut down for some reason. I was notified about the problem just 3 days before our reservation date. The permanent restrooms in the campground were all locked. They brought in Honey Bucket portable restrooms that worked but they aren't ideal and they were always out of hand sanitizer. If the water service had been working, I would have given them 5 stars.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
