Have camped at this campground for several years, very glad the water is repaired. The fair review, is due to the lack of cleaning of the vault toilets, urine stains on the floors and walls, have never seen this campground this filthy and unkept. Fire pits unusable completely full of ash and full of trash. I do hope in 2025 it is better taken care of.

Port-a-potties for toilets, we brought our own water. Some sites have big trees and others have Aspens. Could hear the road from our campsite. There were cows mooing loudly nearby and cowpies around the site. The ground was a bit lumpy for tent space.

If you are looking for cooler temperatures then Monte Cristo is the place to be. Our campsite was great. Getting our trailer into the pull through site was a little tight, but worked out really nice. We explored the Curtis Creek Rd area. Monte Cristo is one of the highlights of Utah. We will definitely be going back to Monte Cristo campground in the future. A wonderful site if you are into dark skies.

The camp host is so nice and helpful. He really made it a great experience even though the toilets still arent working.

We paid the full 29 dollars for 3 sites, which said there was running water and there was not, I think it is wrong that we had to pay full amount when the website states otherwise.

Took the family on a camping trip and stayed here. Our camping spot was filled with trees and was beautiful. There was a meadow with wildflowers just steps away. The one downfall was that there was no running water, which the site showed as being available. Otherwise it was great.

The camp ground was so nice with lots of vegatation and very clean. HOWEVER there were portable toilets instead of the regular pit toilets. They were discusting and incredibly dirty. I am so glad I had a self contained rig. Very disappointed. Also NO WATER to be had. What is the deal with this ????? Where is our money going to???

Monte Cristo never disappoints. The scenery is so beautiful!

This is a Drive in spot only. You can not park a trailer into spot 30. Ended up forfeiting my spot and found somewhere else to park a 26 ft camper.

We stayed in campsite number one and really liked it! You cant really see other sites with the way its angled which was nice and it was a short walk to the bathroom. The water is still shut off which would have probably bothered us if we stayed longer than one night. The porta potties were very clean though so we didnt mind using those. We were glad we chose Monte Cristo over the lower elevation campgrounds, it was way prettier and felt a little more remote. We were sad we couldnt stay longer! Will definitely be back.

We like to go in the middle of the week and come home on Saturday. There was no one else in our camp site loop until Friday night. It was so peaceful and relaxing and we love the view. We took walks around the two loops by us, went to Burch Creek Reservoir, read books, played games and just enjoyed ourselves. It was disappointing that the outhouses were closed and we had to use the portable ones. They were kept clean its just that the regular ones are bigger. All in all it was a nice visit even though it rained on us off and on one day.

1. You need to have more areas that are handicap accessible by bringing in some road fill or better dirt to make the pathways more of a gentle slope than a cliff!2. You also need to have at least one handicap toilet in every loop! 3. Get the campground fixed up, 2 years now going on 3 to fix the water problem is well beyond idiotic!4. Its really pretty darn quiet and peaceful, even when the group sites are all singing if one could call it that.I enjoy that area far above other areas such as Anderson Cove simply because it is quite peaceful and the camping spots are far enough apart that for the most part its an enjoyable experience!

Monte Cristo is a great place to camp. My family and I have camped here for years. The altitude, forest, and beautiful stars at night make this an incredible location for spending time with family and disconnecting from the stresses of life. There is some cell coverage but don't count on it. It'll depend on your carrier. The camp host is friendly and very accommodating. I hesitate to recommend camping here as I'd prefer to keep this gem to myself. :D

We have been to Monte Cristo campground multiple times and have always had a great time, but this time was a little rough. There was no water, which we had been told before hand and were prepared for. But we weren't prepared for the bathrooms to be closed. There were porta potties available, but they were past full and were in desperate need of being dumped or replaced. The flies were also out of control. Definitely just part of nature, but I've never seen so many flies in my life. We ended up cutting our our trip short by a day because we just couldn't handle the flies constantly flying around our heads. It is definitely a beautiful campground and we will most likely be back at some point, but we will definitely check to make sure the bathrooms are open!

Loved this place. Me and my partners new favorite spot. Butterflies everywhere. Perfect weather. The only problem is the water went out. I was at campsite 14 and they had ports potties right across from us and the flies were EVERYWHERE. Maybe clean them out more frequently.
@KrisA2524143 · Camped on Jul 18, 2023 at Campsite #3
We had a beautiful spot, shady and quiet. However, the parking for our RV was sloped more than we thought and we couldn't raise the front enough to get it level. Therefore, our kitchen and shower drains didn't work. If you have a trailer or RV, this beautiful spot may not work for you either. Fortunately we were only there for a short time. Host greeted us soon after arrival. the wildflowers in the meadows were spectacular and even the flowers walking around the loops were beautiful ..

We love this campground! The host was very helpful in getting us to our reserved camping spot. The campground is laid out so that each camper feels safety and privacy. The lack of water was made clear in our reservation confirmation and was not a problem for us. We loved our walks around the entire campground and will definitely plan to come here again. It is beautiful!!

Location was great it’s a higher elevation so it’s a little cold even during the day. Lots of greenery. Site had enough room for 2 tents. Bathrooms were great. Very private.

***NO WATER*** Water spigots have been broken since last summer which means none of the restrooms are open. They bring in porta potties but they get full very fast and only empty/clean once per week!! Other than the water/toilet situation the sites are gorgeous and have paved roads with concrete pads and benches for the fire pit and table areas at the group sites. Camp host was very nice and gracious but has made it clear that the water situation is out of his hands. There are 2 different sites that you can reserve through and recreation.gov has not updated any of their site information for Monte Cristo campground regarding the lack of water. Please call and speak to the camp host before going to get updates on the water as no one else seems to know.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
