Stillwater CG is in a beautiful location with easy access from Hwy 150. Spots are fairly close to one another, but, as it is with so many other things, the neighbors make all the difference. When I was there, the only "noise" I heard was the sound of kids playing and exploring. I enjoyed it. The toilets were clean and well kept. The dumpster is located right next to them. It has two bear-proof doors, but one of them was mangled to the point where a bear standing upright could rifle through the trash. I hope it gets repaired soon - this is the only reason I'm giving it a 4 versus 5-star rating. Many of the spots back up to the Bear River, and there are plenty of places where a person can sit and enjoy the sound of the water. There's a moderate amount of shade, but you have to wait until late afternoon to early evening to enjoy its full benefit. This was my first campout in several years due to family drama, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm eager to visit other places in this beautiful state. Highly recommend!

This is the second time we have stayed at Stillwater and it was great both times. The first time, we camped right on the river, but this time when we visited in August, without a lot of time to schedule it, we couldn't get the same spot as it was quite busy, being the last week before school started. The restrooms were very clean, as before.We did have a private spot, though there were many camped nearby with small kids. We still had a mama Ruffed Grouse stroll through, followed by her 9 half-grown chicks. We also had mule deer, snowshoe rabbits and many chipmunks. Next time we would prefer to visit in September.

Our favorite place to go for a quick getaway. Peaceful, tranquil, away from noisy stuff!

We were very unhappy with our stay at Stillwater. It is one of our favorite campgrounds...mostly because of how clean it is and the stream which runs through it. This time, however, we found a dirty campsite with garbage in the fire pit and cans left all over. The only time we saw a host was when my husband happened to see her on his way back from the bathroom and asked that she replenish the toilet paper. There was no water at the campground and we were made aware of that when we booked but it would have been nice to at least have a sign at the hosts campsite letting people know there was water available at Sulphur Creek. It seems there must be a shortage of people willing to do the campground host job because we spoke to a man who got to his reserved spot at Christmas Meadows only to find someone in his site who absolutely refused to leave and no host to enforce his reservation. If we are going to be charged full fees for these campgrounds they need to be better than the campsites that are NOT in a campground and there needs to be someone at the site who can help when there is a problem.

Beautiful location spots were clean as well as the bathroom. Just beware of bugs they got bad in the day. Will definitely be back!

This was a quiet, beautiful, basic campsite that backed up to the Stillwater Fork of the Bear River. It was well-maintained and shaded. The camp host, Ivan, was very friendly and helpful and the vault toilets were exceptionally clean and well-stocked. The spot we camped had no water, but it had a fire ring and nice picnic table. Water was available from a tap not far from us. It was delightful to sit in the evening and enjoy the river. There was no cell service for us from Verizon.Stillwater Campground is about 1/3 mile from the Christmas Meadows road, with access to many trails and fishing spots. It is also about 33 miles from Evanston, WY, for shopping and other services.I highly recommend it, and would definitely stay there again!

While it's nice to be near the river and the area is beautiful, I couldn't enjoy the site or scenery because there is zero privacy between campsites (with the notable exception of site 10). There are a number of stumps in the site I stayed in (site 8)--why would you cut down trees that would give you shade and privacy? The only thing separating my site from the next two over was a log on the ground. Unfortunately, I decided to go home (2.5 hours) after about 90 minutes because the site just wouldn't work for me or my dogs. It was a very disappointing trip and despite the area, I do not recommend this campground. Maybe try another one nearby instead.

Stillwater had well maintained vault toilets. The campground is just over a mile from the ranger station.

Even after a tough prolonged winter the campground was in pristine shape as expected. This was our third year at this site and we are very pleased.

The site next to us had a generator running all night long. The campground host had no idea and probably didn’t do any rounds after 10:00. We left a day early because we had no clue whether they would do it again the next night.

The camp host was very nice and hospitable. Even offered us some campfire wood from his own stash. The site was right on the water and couldn't be better. THANK YOU

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
