We love Christmas Meadows and have been coming here for many years. The biggest improvement this year was the road which was terrible last year but had been worked on this summer and was much, much better. Also, the bathrooms were very clean and almost bug free which is unusual in such an outdoorsy environment. We love hiking up the trail with the grandkids, floating down the river and gathering around a campfire at night to roast marshmallows. Our only complaint is that there was no garbage service so we had to take our garbage over to the Stillwater campground as per the host.

My family has been camping in this camp ground for nearly 40 years. It is peaceful, well maintained with great views scenes of mountain and wildlife. I am happy to report that the road has been worked on and is in amazing shape. Please note that in 2023 dumpsters were removed and you must pack out all trash.

It said on the website there would be potable water and there is none. It also said there were trash cans available and there were none also

Beautiful. Crowded on the weekends, idyllic during the week.

Our family has been going to Christmas Meadows annually for at least 15 years. This spot is definitely very special. While we love the area and will continue going back, it has been sad to see how much things have changed with how well the campground is cared for and managed over the past few years. While Clark used to be the dedicated camp host, living on site, keeping the bathrooms clean, toilet paper stocked, and managing campers, now one camp host comes around every few days to perhaps stock toilet paper. There is no longer a dumpster on site and this year there wasn't any water. Gratefully, the road to access the campground is finally being regraded, because the road had really gotten epically bad. Regardless, we continue to love this small campground with great sites and tremendous views. We just wish having an on-site camp host were still a priority.

When we arrived at Christmas Meadows at 10:30 p.m., our spot was taken because the campground hosts had failed to label our reservation, and they weren't even there to resolve the issue. Two people are responsible for running 9 campgrounds and are obviously struggling to keep up with all of them. We set up at an open spot that wasn't marked reserved either. The next day, we had to relocate after setting up our campsite because that one was also reserved and not marked. Pretty frustrating when we scheduled a month in advance and paid for our site.

Road in is so horrible that the garbage collectors wont come in anymore. Ridiculous forest service!!!!!

Well maintained campground in a beautiful area off the Mirror Lake Hwy. The camp hosts keep sites clean, and the restrooms are maybe the cleanest of any USFS facilities ever. No services here, and the four mile road into campground is in terrible shape. It shouldnt be attempted without a high clearance vehicle/trailer. In fact, there isnt any trash service because the operator refuses to take his truck on the road.

This is a very pretty campground. with opportunities to see wildlife and fish in the nearby stream. Our campground host this year, Marvin, was the best we have ever experienced! He was very personable and always had the time to visit. He kept the pit toilets cleaner than I have ever seen them during the 10 years we have been coming to this campground. He also took real care of the campground, raking the site after each camper left and even cleaning out the firepit of leftover burnt wood, which I have never seen a campground host do before. He even gave us a map to hiking trails in the area.

Having private companies make huge profits off of public land and infrastructure is a crime. Utah Recreation is a horrible company that should not be running public areas for a (very large) profit

The US Forest Ranger assigned to Christmas Meadows area is 'Marv'. And he is a marvelous individual. Advice he gave of the surrounding area and wildlife allowed our family visit to greatly exceed our expectations. Thank you Marv!!!

Don’t tell anyone, but the most beautiful valley in the Unitas. Great camp sites on the river. Clean bathrooms and well maintained. A gem.

Cleanest pit toilet I have ever seen. Campsites are well spaced out. Lots of spots for tents. Really nice shaded spots with easy access to the river behind.

There was no camp host this year. The toilets were not as clean as in the past and are getting run down. They also were very full and needed empty. Not as enjoyable as it has been in the past.

Great Campground, beautiful area. The road was rough to get there, a lot of pot holes.

Bathrooms(vault) ok. Hosts could be more active? The campground is loosing trees at a fast rate . Very hot sites for 50% of the sites. Quiet though , great trail next to campground. Go for miles to lakes up high

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
