The park has potential. It hadn't been maintained in a while, the grass was really high, and the restroom and showers were less desirable.

I wish I could rate this campground higher because it was so peaceful with quite a bit of bushy vegetation to provide a small measure of privacy between sites. This is as close to nature as one can get in a campground! There was poison ivy on the trees next to us and in the mowed ground around the campsite. There were so many butterflies, flies, and other flying insects on the sunny side of our RV that it made entering and exiting through the sliding door very difficult. And, the ANTS! After one night in our site, the ants had formed an active trail to the top of our RV. Consequently, we had ants inside the RV!The roads inside the campground need to be repaved.The camp host and the park ranger were both very friendly and informative.

Went to Ennis TX and stayed at the COE Waxahachie Creek on Bardwell Lake. It just opened back up after being closed for a few years. They need to close it back down again and have contractors come in and modernize it. Looks like they installed new water lines. But the areas around the sites need to be mowed and reworked to make it more level and make it easier to get campers in and out of especially with slides, very tight turns. The electric needs to be gone through and fixed. Two of our sites and another family had issues with power and had to move. The back up sites had worn out 30 amp outlets had to use 50 amp adapter. The gate host were nice and tried to help us find new spots to move to. Also one site played music loud till after midnight Told the camp host about it, later found out from another camper that it was the.camp host drunk adult son. Still was playing it loud the next night. Would be a great camp ground if it was brought up to speed. Checked out the other camp ground on the lake (High View and Mott) were better but the sites were short and not level for the most part. Went there to see the Blue Bonnets and attend the festival in Ennis. Which was worth the trip. Want to come back to the festival next year but will look for somewhere else to stay unless the problems are fixed. Would look for other options to camp out in the area.

I had the pleasure of staying here 3 night of which only one was planned. The camp host were great. Upon learning I was new to towing they suggested I practice backing into any of the open sites which I did. That helped me a lot. A big thank you to them.I stayed in site 4 twice and site 2 once!I will come back again as it was really beautiful!

Our group of 7 couples with rv's was so excited that this park had opened back up after being closed for a couple years. We assumed it was closed for renovations...wrong! The only renovations that we could see was new water lines and spigots. The roads were in bad shape; the park and camp sites were overgrown with tall weeds; it was very difficult to reach the shoreline (we had boats) due to the overgrown weeds between the campsites and the shore; some of the sites had no electricity at the site's electrical stand which meant 2 of our group had to move sites after setting up; we were all invaded with armies of ants; there was only one dumpster for the entire park located at the group pavilion which had a rutted road leading to it; the restrooms were in bad shape and the one closest to our sites didn't have a sidewalk to it from the road so it sat in tall weeds; the boat ramp had a large tree limb blocking one lane; the floating dock was not accessible with the walk ramp no longer connected; one side of the park was yellow taped off. It's so sad that this park seems to have been forgotten for some reason. This COE park has the potential to be beautiful with some major attention!

We reserved site #11 for my birthday weekend Friday - Monday, The grass was too tall & it was not a good fit for our camper so we went on line and got site #2 & we left our discount card at home so we paid full price. Well after getting there and setting up when we plugged in the 30 amp it didn't work so we had to move to a 3rd site #8. There the grass was again too tall, but we didnt want to move again so we stayed until Sunday morning and left a day early after paying 3 nights at 2 different sites. We will not go back to Waxahachie Creek.

We stayed April 11th through the 14th spot 58. When we arrived he guy at front said we may need to look at it first due to someone getting stuck the day before. We looked and said lets look at another open spot. So we moved to spot 2 well no electricity. So back to 58 to see if we could make it work cuz we do have a 30 ft motorhome. Thanks to the guy in front to help us back it in. Then we had to go to store to get wasp spray due to the awning was covered with wasp. The guy up front said he would talk to the head person for a future discount. Hopefully next time we come back which is ( May 10th through the 12th for Mother's Day weekend spots 56,57,58)the grass would be cut and the bathrooms are cleaned and fixed. It's a fun place just minor things that could be kept up. The McDonald's

Nice, quiet park. Very friendly and helpful staff. There are some improvements ongoing to some campsites but overall it was clean and quiet and everything worked. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

There for the eclipse, we enjoyed our camp site by the water. Watching the bluebirds was a highlight. The folks running the campground were very nice and helpful. We had a great experience.

We traveled over 1600 miles to visit this site for the 2024 Eclipse. It was everything we had hoped for! The camp hosts were very kind and accommodating and made it a very enjoyable stay. They even ordered up a break in the clouds for us to be able to see the Eclipse!! :-)

Well maintained. Remote enough to feel away from the bustle. Great hook ups and fresh water for a smooth experience

This was the most frustrating experience. I was able to make a reservation on recreation.gov for two nights in April, but it turns out the campground was (and had been for many months) closed. I spoke with no resolution to recreation.gov and COE, but was still charged for the nights. I was even sent a 'How was your stay' email after the dates had passed.

Overall, the campgrounds were great, clean, lots of shade, plenty of areas to go fishing. Fishing was great, grandkids caught a few fish, which we cooked and they ate them up. Only draw-back was that all the bathrooms were closed the whole week-end.

We loved the campsite and being so close to the water. But the bathrooms and showers really could use some help. It looks like someone stops by daily to refill toilet paper and that's it. They both need really good cleanings. That's probably the only reason why we wouldn't come back and I think that's really sad because I'm sure someone is getting paid to clean them

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
