We have been going to Woodsman group camp for 48 years in a row, always a good time, the lake was full this year, kids had a ball.

Host was friendly and very attentive to facilities. Campground was nice. Only complaint is the layout of the sites for travel trailer use. If your group has trailers, these group sites can be an awkward layout. There are short posts in the parking area that actually make it even harder to setup a group camp with trailers. For tent camping there was ample space in all the sites.

For 25 years I've been organizing group camping for a group of folks. Mostly we've camped at the Woodsman Loop in Emigrant Group Campground. This year something changed. First, the vault toilet facility emitted an awful smell that went far beyond the restroom facility. The camp host informed me that it won't be pumped until the end of the season. There are a lot more days in this season and I hate to think of the smell in the campground as the season reaches its end. I'm told by the camp host that it is too costly to have it pumped when needed. Note, the adjoining, Logger Campground, has 248 campsites and Emigrant group has four. We paid $201 per night. If all units at Logger and Emigrant Group campgrounds were occupied for one day it would total $7574.00. Multiply that number by the number of days in the "season" you come up with a very large number. Granted, all units are not occupied every day. The point is, surely those who operate the campground can afford to have their vault toilets pumped more than once a season. Secondly, for the first time we were asked to pay an extra $5 per night per car extra beyond our 15 car limit. We paid. No receipt was offered. This fee was not mentioned upon reserving the site, nor have we ever had to pay extra for vehicles exceeding 15 in number. A receipt would have been nice, an indication that maybe those funds would go toward pumping the vault toilets, renovating the weather warn benches or the large asphalt cracks in the driveway.

We stayed at the Rancher site that fits up to 25 people, however only 8 of us there this time. July 2021. This is a great campground, very spacious, 6 very large picnics tables, 4 BBQ grills, huge fire pit, very close to the bathrooms that you share with the next site over. These are vaulted toilets but very, very clean, serviced daily. The host, who stays in the campground, has firewood for $10 a bundle. There are many trees surrounding the site but the table areas are all pure sun so bring shade if you're going in the summer months. Also prepare your tent and gear for possible random thunder storms in the afternoon, totally caught us by surprise. The lake was amazing, so calm and empty. My only complaint, and this is not the fault of the campgrounds, the water is extremely low and it is quite a long walk from our campsite. We ended up driving down to a beached area each day. We took our jet skis out, there is a boat launch down the road. The water was perfect for them. Overall we loved it here, it was our first time and we'll go back, hopefully when the water is higher.

The campsite and bathrooms were so clean, I actually didn't mind using the facilities!!! We hiked up to Verdi Peak and several other short hikes in the area. Made use of the horseshoe pit and went for bike rides around Logger Campground. Fishing was not very productive, but it never is for me. It was just nice to enjoy being in a peaceful, beautiful place with my family all around.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
