Great campground. Very close to the bearskin lodge and then tons of amazing hikes in the area. Weve only camped in the cabins but there are several campsites along the lake they look amazing. The cabins are well maintained and also have a 3 season porch which is perfect for hanging out without bugs bothering you.

These cabins are generally a great value for what you get. However, we were quite alarmed to discover that this cabin leaked considerably rendering two bunks unusable in even a light rain. Glad we noticed before all of our gear was soaked. The cabin roof leaked in several places as was evident in darkened moldy wood panels.Another issue is that there was a big enough gap under the front door that mice got in the cabin. We keep a pretty clean area but were pretty disappointed in that. I would expect a partial refund for unusable bunks due to roof leaking and hope the design will be improved or repaired before we'll consider returning.

Camper cabin was very nice! We liked being under a roof instead of a tent when the rain came, and cooking outside still made it feel like camping.

We loved the screened porch of the cabin which allowed us to sit out at night without being eaten by mosquitoes. The site (Tamarack) was close to the vault toilets. The camping sites were far enough apart to allow for privacy. There are great hiking trails that run through the camp. Pets are allowed and our dog loved the water and hiking. We definitely will go back.

Wonderful 3 night stay! Site #17 in my opinion is the best spot. Clean campground and very quiet, especially at night.

Not at all as advertised. Had 2 separate parking spaces within tall grass. The picnic area was a separate area, elevated and separate from the parking space which was not suitable for my car camping set up. Had to find another space for my stay.

It was remote and beautiful, which is what I wanted. I had 237 mosquito bites in 3 days (I counted). I camp for 3 weeks every summer, I've never seen anything like this. Deet, etc. didn't seem to make any difference at all. I would not go back unless I was really wanting to be the main course in a mosquito drive through.

I've been going to this campground for over thirty years and have enjoyed my visits.However, the general maintenance of the campground has declined in recent years.The campground road has numerous deep potholes that never seem to get filled.The picnic tables are in poor condition. The paint is also badly chipping off.Our firepit had numerous pieces of broken glass and cans in it.The latrines are also not serviced often enough.The general maintenance was much better in the past when there was a full- time host staying at the campground.I hope conditions improve because it's a nice location.

The campsite was cleaned up and ready for us when we got there. It was very nice and peaceful, and the lodge is just down the road so if you need any firewood or want to rent Kyaks it's super convenient and pretty cheap too. Would definitely camp here again!

Absolutely zero cell phone service (not poor, zero) for over 30 minutes from the campground. Roads are narrow, gravel, and many pot holes. Site 26 has a steep driveway and was too short on the top flat part for a 21' trailer and there's a cabin within full visibility of the site, so no privacy. This was far more remote/unkempt than the several nicolet national forest campgrounds we have stayed in.

The mosquitos are particularly bad this year and the cabins are not maintained at all. It was the beginning of the season and there were huge holes in many of the screens. At night it was either get chewed or cover up with thick sleeping bags and sweat your way through. I couldnt wait to go home.

Very enjoyable time with 5 in the cabin. Great walleye fishing on Crocodile. Enjoyed use of motor day pass to far ends of E Bearskin. Bad this time for mosquitoes. Cabin served well. One thing needs changed. The upper small windows need to be ventable to decrease heat in loft bed area.

Had a amazing couple of nights almost in complete solitude. The camping spots are neat roomy and have a nice fire pit. The lake and surrounding area are marvelous. Even heard wolfs howling one night.

We have stayed at the East Bearskin campground cabins numerous times over the past 10 years. They are especially welcome when it rains for days, as it did this trip. (Sometimes we’ve also had snow.) All of these rustic cabins are nice, but simple. The Alder Cabin has had some mice in it in the fall. Nothing that a couple of traps won’t solve. The last occupants left a couple behind for me but I had already brought some. Since each visitor is responsible for cleaning the cabin before they leave, it sure is nice to sweep the cabin thoroughly before leaving. Thanks to those of you who leave the cabin nicer than when you arrived.

Great Campground! Stayed in the Tamarack cabin - perfect as a bunkhouse before heading out into the BWCAW.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
