Camp host is great but his dog needs to be on a leash!!!!! Dog ran at and knocked my niece over. It is uncontrolled off leash and a danger to children.

Lovely campsite. I came around mid-late June. There is no service and we forgot to note down which campsite number was ours but we were able to figure that out by going to the camp host, who was quite friendly with his playful dog. Pulled in the car and walked up a couple of dirt/log steps to see the elevated campsite. This specific site sort of had two levels to it. The lower level is for the vehicle and the upper level is for the tent, picnic table, and fire pit, I enjoyed the separation of the two. The fire pit is inground. Was hoping to use the grill but the grill does not lift very high above the fire. I saw online that if you brought two vehicles, one of them would have to be parked in some sort of parking lot, but I could not find that, luckily our parking space at camp was quite large and could fit both cars. There were an insane amount of mosquitos, especially at the picnic table. A short 1-2 minute walk to the lakeside from the site. Didn't find any ticks at all in this area. The water wasn't that cold with temps of 65-70 and cloudy outside. The water is quite dirty from all the loose algae so it will cover every hair on your body in algae. This camp was not that busy and most of the sites seemed to be pretty spread out. This was a group campsite and there was room for our big 6-person tent. Overall a great time!

we really enjoy the Cresent Lake area, but I really wish the host would have his big dog on a leash. My dog is very protective and it almost created a problem when his dog came into our camp. same thing last year when we were there.

We camped at Site 12. The fire pit, table and bench were all there. It is nicely spaced out from the next and covered with trees that offer extra privacy. This site connects to the lake by taking a short path. We would try to cast some fishing lines had we had more day light. Since we arrived after 9PM we just cooked then hang out by the fire.

Campsite 12 was perfect for us! We were able to park our truck and boat while having a separate area for our tent. The layout of the land special because our tent and table were on one level and the firepit was in ground on another level. It was also right up the hill from lakeshore, so we were able to walk down to the lake with ease. We were protected in the trees from wind and rain which was helpful in the fall. It is definitely a spot we'll go back to!

Beautiful large site with water access. Loved listening to the loons as they sang on the water in the evenings. Our dogs enjoyed splashing and swimming the entire weekend. We brought our ATV's in hopes to explore some of the forestry roads, it is not posted on the website that this is a NOT ATV friendly campground. Jack, the awesome camp host, stopped by and interduce himself, apologized for the ATV policy and lack of website knowledge. He also let us know if there was anything we needed to reach out to him. Oh - if you bring a boat or a pontoon the boat ramp needs some work due to erosion, the water depth at the end of the dock is extremely shallow, making it a challenge! Our friends pulled their boat up but decided not to use it, due to the water depths and erosion issues. These things did not make or break our mini vacation - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay!! We'll be back!

Crescent Lake might be my favorite campground I've ever stayed at. My site had shore access which was great for kayaking and swimming. The camp host was friendly and helpful. The cleanliness of the entire campground was impressive. The remoteness and the sounds of the wildlife were wonderfully peaceful. This place is a hidden gem!

The rustic sites are small and best for tents and small campers. Rocky, picturesque shorelines of Crescent Lake, typical of the Boundary Waters area, do make it difficult to store your canoe near your campsite but the boat landing with pier is excellent. Many of the sites have steps up to, or down to, the picnic table and fire ring. Peaceful, quiet, no cell phones bothering you. The host in 2023, Jack, was super friendly and kept the place up very well. Outhouses were clean and always stocked with TP and the campsites had no litter, not even little bits! If you forgot any supplies, Sawbill Canoe Outfitters was 25 minutes at the end of the Sawbill Trail.

Quiet campground.

Nice place to camp. If using a tent, you may want to bring a rake to smooth out some of the erosion issues happening.

We have come back to this campground for several years. The last two years we have reserved 3 sites for 3 generations of campers in our family in what has become an annual event. The campsites are all heavily wooded with great privacy and many of them have great lake views. We bring 2 kayaks up and rent a canoe at Sawtooth outfitters in Tofte so that people can get on the lake. It is a beautiful lake.

This is a wonderful campground! The lake, the campsites, its remote location are all great attributes. I've been their twice this year and intend to return next year.

This was our third year visiting Crescent Lake. The remoteness and quiet are what makes us return. Before our visit to CL we were up the Gunflint trail at Flour Lake another beautiful location. But what sets CL from FL is the campground host, Jack and his partner Reggie, they are very involved in the day to day operation of the CG. The bathrooms are clean and no smell! Well done!

We were able to get our favorite camping spot! The campground host was very friendly. The toilets were always clean and stocked! Bring mosquito nets. I used Irish spring soap by our door of the RV to help Keep mosquitos bearable. We also have a gazebo that is very easy to put up, so sat in there to read later in the day. Fill your RV tank at Gooseberry Falls before going up to the lake. Otherwise it will take forever to fill from the pump. Can empty tanks in Silver bay at the municipal site. Bring extra bottles for drinking water from the pump. PS. Can get some Verizon service at campsite #7 by the water

What beauty! The site was just as I remembered, but with a fall colors veil. We were delighted by the presence of three otters volleying a caught fish, and of course the loons were singing. We will be back!

Campground host was very helpful. Sites well maintained. Bathrooms always clean and well supplied. Drinking water was clean with no bad taste or color. Only concern was that the map of the campground showed a hiking trail that appeared to be overgrown and not maintained. This is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. Definitely coming back!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
