Great area to stay out of the beaten path.

Site 17 is a struggle to get to. Don't get this site if you have trailers or care about your vehicle.

Have sand camped here for many years, always love this spot and what Siltcoos sand camping has to offer. Biggest complaint was the 3 contractor bags of garbage we removed from the bum camp at the site adjacent to ours. Hate the thought of these sites getting closed so just hoping this can be addressed somehow.

Absolutely awesome location right in front of a small body of water with only three other camps on that road. Must air down tires to drive street vehicles to camp sites.

Great time even though it poured one night. We always love our trips there and can't wait for our next. The dunes are our second home!

We booked a tent space and we’re stuck in the sand next to two huge Rvs. All of the neighbors were loud, drunk and using ATVs on areas where ATVs are banned. We ended up leaving and getting a hotel. Overall it was the worst camping experience I’ve ever had. I did not feel that it was a safe place for my children or dogs. There were no trash cans and the showers were pay to use. Our GPS directed us to a near by children’s prison instead of the campsite at first. The campsite is over a mile’s walk from the actual beach. Another group that was there was flying confederate flags and other hate speech that I refuse to acknowledge, they made my gay teen afraid for her safety. The fact that a publicly owned campsite would allow treasonous symbols hate is disgusting. I will not be camping here again.

We stayed at spot 18 for three days. The location is quite a ways from the parking lot, and the access road to get to the flats is long with lots of whoops. Pulling an 18,000 pound fifth wheel on the sand required us two air down very very low. The camping location is secluded, but it still gets occasional atv traffic through the site. Unfortunately, there was a burn ban in effect while we stayed there so we could not have a campfire.

A bad experience overall. I couldn't find anywhere to park my car to hike into the sand camping, everywhere said do not park here so I drove around for an hour trying to get help from a campsite host. Literally, all of them were off duty and hid inside their RVs as to not have to help me. I eventually decided to park near a trailhead and take my chances of not getting a fine. I get to my designated spot and some lady is parked there with her RV and truck. She said that the spot was open on the site and she purchased it. I had previously reserved that spot weeks in advance so either she was lying or this site sucks. Then she said she would be ok to "share the spot" as if she had a rightful claim of the spot which I had paid for. I just decided to go up the road and camp in the trees because I didn't want to have to listen to a generator all night. This area really doesn't want you in it and wants you to pay every opportunity it can get. I wouldn't recommend camping here in the sand, just pick a rv spot.

Great location and close to trails. Lots of space to put tents and vehicles.

Great large camp for families. Kids love it! Just a huge sand box to play in. Do your homework before you go. Make sure you have the mandatory equipment before driving on the sand. This section of the dunes can be thick so be prepared. Close enough to the road that most rigs can make it to the site, but far enough away to feel privacy.

We had not camped or ridden here in all of the years we have been coming to the coastal dunes. We had a blast, very different terrain. Will be back!!

Pro: Campsite spacing is mostly good. Toilets excellent. We like campsites without electricity, water and sewer - generally makes for a more diverse and interesting group of fellow campers. Con: A better explanation of same day reservations is needed. Fortunately, another camper helped us out. In the case of Siltcoos, there needs to be a map showing where cell reception is best.

There's literally no information on how to actually get to these campsites. Asked multiple people (including rangers) and nobody seemed to know what we were talking about. Total waste of time/money.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
