A nice park in the Oregon Dunes area. Lots of space between sites and there was even enough internet via Verizon to book a spot while in the campground!

Beautiful campground, tucked away in the trees. The campsites are nicely arranged for privacy; some are closer together for groups, but most are more private. The 20 minute walk to the beach is easy and pleasant.

The Siltcoos river is a great place for birding.

We have always loved coming to this campground. It has always been well maintained with very clean campsites and bathrooms. However, this year every time we have come (3-4) the camp hosts have not been visible, have a huge dog who barks and is very unfriendly, the campsites have been trashy, the bathrooms are pretty scary with big clusters of spider webs, and no one even checked to see if we were in the correct camp site. In the past the campsite has always been marked with a reserve sign and the camp hosts have come by to see if we needed anything. What is happening to our campgrounds? At the very least the camp host should be visitor friendly and approachable and available.

very nice campsite. only complaint is about the overflowing trash in all trash bins after the Labor DAy long weekend. the trash pick up was not done until late Friday ( Sept 6th).

1st night was a filled with noise and chaos from next site over. They were disrespectful and rude. Reporting it to the camp host was not helpful. He remarked he had heard noise & witnessed a loose dog. He stated he couldn't do much to alleviate the problem. Our only option was to change spots and pay more money or leave.

Place was packed. Too many tents and vehicles per site. Bathrooms could use some attention/cleaning

We were in 6, very nice site, private with access to the river. Kayaking was good. Went to the ocean, the wind was a bummer but we made it. We'll be back, like this campground a lot.

I loved this spot so much. Worked well for me and my boyfriend but could of fit even more people as well probably only 4 people max though. The bathrooms were clean and close by as well. This spot is also nice and shady!:)

Wax Myrtle Campground is beautiful and ideally situated along the Siltcoos River. The hike to the ocean is superb and is thoroughly enjoyable. However, the OHV noise level is intolerable even though the OHVs are not allowed on the side of the Siltcoos River where the campground is located. Some signs state that the max db is 93, and most OHVs considerably exceed this number. We have stayed in this campground numerous times, and the OHV noise is always an issue, but it was really annoying this last time.

This particular site (#41) is like a ramp. No chance to sleep there. Had to rebook.

Super relaxing

The camp host was friendly and welcoming. The campground is clean and sites are private, which I enjoyed. The only problem I had was a group of noisy campers who partied until 1:00am, even though rules say to be quiet at 10pm. I would have appreciated the host asking them to quiet down.

We enjoy Waxmyrtle for the benefit of camping right next to a river - the Siltcoos - and enjoying floating either direction.

I went to multiple campsites on the Oregon coast and they all seemed to be good. Just dont forget to bring your own soap for the restrooms if you are into that sort of thing.

Lovely, clean, quiet campground and each site has a bit of privacy from their neighbors, while also creating a sense of community with your fellow campers. PLEASE drive slowly. An otter was hit by vehicle traffic right outside the campground during our visit. The campground is adjacent to a beautiful wetland thriving with wildlife, from birds like osprey and kingfishers to animals like otters. People kayak the serene water & it was very disheartening to see the otter. The ocean is a short drive or bike ride away and you can hear the constant hum of the ocean waves from the campground. During hot interior weather, this region is a sanctuary and stays cool and shady. The nearby OHV was also a constant hum of noise, which was the one negative about the stay at this camp.

The good: Great location near the dune beaches, not far from Florence, lakes, rivers. Bathrooms were clean, flush toilets, had running water. Not too crowded or noisy. Nice firepit and picnic table, private, and space at campsite #2 (though size and space varied a lot by site).The meh: It says to check in with the camp host, but I never saw the host until the last of 5 days. Had an "off duty" or "on inspection" sign every time I went by, and we were right near the host. Website says you can buy firewood there, but again, the host wasn't there when I was and I didn't see firewood available to self-serve, so I ended up just buying wood elsewhere. The bad: The biggest downside of the campground were the mosquitos. So many! It's next to a little river, and the mosquitos were relentless. Hard to enjoy relaxing by the fire with them harassing you. We doused ourselves head to toe in smelly bud spray, lit a citronella candle, warded them away with smoke from our fire. Even so, they still bit me a bunch, so we did not end up staying at the campsite much - just ate quickly and went out to have adventures in less buggy locations. If mosquitos like you, you probably won't find this location very relaxing.

All my stuff was stolen from my campground on the first night. Camp host said its a frequent occurrence, and between Waxmyrtle, Lagoon and Driftwood Campgrounds, A DAILY occurrence. Otherwise, seems like a nice place.

Camp sites are small and closely spaced but well separated by trees and under brush. We had a trailer so I can't comment on bathrooms. We had clear sunny weather in mid Sept. Walk to the beach is maybe a 1.5 mile hike unless you drive to the parking lot. You'll need to climb a 40 foot sand berm to access the beach which is beautiful and flat. I would not recommend this for RV's or trailers over 24 feet long due to the sharp turns and narrow roads.

We had a wonderful time at #39 and were lucky that the adjoining site #51 campers were so sweet. The camp host was so sweet! Biggest downfall was other campers that were excessively loud well into the wee hours of the morning. We cant wait to book again!

Lots of great camping sites and very family friendly at first campground. One back near the dunes seemed more crowded and more 'party' influenced with folks riding out on the dunes.

So much to do! Kayaking on the river, nearby beaches, tidepools, hikes (the Hobbit trail is awesome!), dune buggy rides... So much fun!

We input our information showing we had a 20 foot travel trailer. The system showed a site that met the requirements. When we arrived the site was only long enough for just the trailer with no space to part the truck. The campground was full. The host was very pleasant but not extremely helpful. He just kept saying that it was out of his hands and we had to call. He did say that a person had left but not cancelled and they had told another camper that they may use the site. Unfortunately they were not in their camp when the host went to talk to them. SInce there was a known open site that was plenty large enough for our truck and trailer I would have expected the host to just put us in there and inform the other campers that they had no right to save the site. After more than an hour on the phone on hold a very polite agent found us a suitable site "just across the road" from where we were. Turns out is was 18 miles away in the direction we had just come. She indicated that it was 40 feet long. It was actually a pull through 120 feet long. Good news, but just shows again how wrong the information is on Recreation.gov. Once moved our stay was pleasant. Nice quiet park with lots of space between sites.We also used our Golden Age discount, and because we used it for the first site we were unable to use it for the replacement site. We had to request a refund for the first site, then request a second refund for the 1/2 price portion for Golden Age. That took another 20 minutes on hold with a second agent to request a refund. It would seem to me that a mush friendlier solution would be for the first agent to just push a button authorizing the second use based on the circumstances. Just as I recall when using Recreation.gov previously, it is not user friendly, but you are forced to use it because many parks do not have onsite payments.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
