The site was good with enough shade and space. The only con was that the toilets were not clean as they were vault toilets.

We couldn't find the place, even though we made sure we got the address right on our downloaded map. We entered the Sierra Forest and there was no signage or any ranger who could help us. In the end, we had to go out and stay at a hotel on the outskirts of Yosemite, which cost us $499. Terrible service, I feel very disappointed because I wanted to camp there and due to lack of signage I couldn't.

Stayed here twice on weekend trips to Yosemite. Make sure you follow the directions listed as gps won’t get you there (do not turn to go to Bass Lake). The road is a little rough getting up there and it would benefit to have a higher clearance vehicle, but our Prius even made it up without issue. Very secluded so make sure you bring anything you need! Very beautiful and worth the drive!

We got this campsite as a stop gap for our Yosemite trip and it end up being our favorite. Lots of mountain roads and trails to explore. You can take forest service roads directly from here to south Yosemite entrance.

Great campsite. Quiet and peaceful, with a beautiful meadow nearby. Can't get better than this.

There are roaming COWS there! The road there is treacherous...I was afraid of falling off the side cliff and I was afraid our trusty family sedan would brake down leaving us in the middle of no where. There is no amenity whatsoever. It is cold and dark and SCARY. My family arrived then turned tail and to a hotel. The side would have been good for a larger group of adventurers, not for a couple with a toddler. If the bears didn't carry us off, I am sure the cows would have.

It is a nice clean campsite w/ vault toilets and a small stream. We did some hiking around the campground and it seemed like we were all crammed in at the entrance. Unfortunately we had neighbors that were up drinking til 1 or 2 in the morning playing music. It would be nice if the quiet hours were taken seriously, especially if you have kids with you. All in all it was a nice place to stay, the road to get there is tricky but made it with a small SUV, we were about 50 minutes from the south entrance to Yosemite.

Beautiful large campsite with a meadow and small creek near by. Took about 2 hours to get to Yosemite Valley so that was a bit difficult. Carmen is a WONDERFUL hostess and came by periodically to check on everyone. Easy to get to. My 2 wheel drive Nissan coupe could make it perfectly. The entrance is slightly bumpy but the rest is smooth. Further into the campground, I heard the road gets quite rough so I stayed away.

Peaceful, quaint, small campground (12 sites), but spacious campsites! Easy to find with exact GPS coordinates (on both apple & google maps). I would recommend arriving during daylight hours so you are able to navigate the campsite and locate which site is yours, as your name can be quite hard to find on the mini-posts at night. If you are used to dispersed camping, then the sites may be too close for comfort, however, compared to more crowded (reservable) campgrounds with more spots - this site is a gem! The hostess was delightful and gave us recommendations/directions. Clean bathrooms :)

Camped Kelty meadows on the weekend of 7/26/20. Since there are really no recent reviews for the campground, I’ll give a brief report: 1. Paved road up to about the last 2 miles. For the most part it is in good condition. A small section of dirt potholes, but easily navigated. 2. When you come up to the Kelty Meadow sign, go left of the sign to go up the “trail” (it’s more like a dirt bike trail than a road). But doable with a Prius lol. 3. Small camp ground 30 minutes from the 41. 4. Campsites were nice, spacious, clean, and very secluded. We didn’t hear hear other campers. 5. Bathrooms were very clean 6. Camp host was nice, friendly, and offered great advice. 7. Bear bins were a bit smaller than any other site I’ve been to. These were long rectangular, shallow. While other campground bins are square and deep. 8. Stream is very small, like a garden hose broke (may be the time of year). 9. There is not much exploring to do on foot. Didn’t see any significant trails other than a horse path. 10. We used the site as a camppost to hike half dome. (1.5 hours away from Yosemite valley). Hope this is useful.

I booked a reservation for one night of camping at Kelty Meadow Site FS1-30. We arrived at the location that is shown in the maps you see here on the booking page, around Cowboys Trail and Road 222. However note that if you turn on satellite view on this map you can see that this is not a campsite, be sure to use the gps coordinates provided on recreation.gov to find the actual campsite location which is demonstrated in the pictures of the campground. Once we found the correct location we were met with an extremely unkempt road. Our rental car bottomed out over and over again. We stopped at the sign “Kelty Meadow Public Campground” there was a map of the sites and a note below it telling us to look for our name at the campsite. The sites were numbered 1 through 12 and our reservation was for “FS1-30”. The road just got worse so we parked and walked around to a couple of the campgrounds in the dark, not finding our name anywhere we just camped by the entrance sign. Staying at this campsite was a terrible experience, even as we were leaving the next morning it was unclear if this was even the correct campground.

Very spacious campsite with pine trees everywhere. A little far but great to get away from city. Night time gets a little chilly even in mid summer bring warm clothes

Nice rural camping, where you can truly enjoy nature. Suggest 4x4 vehicles for this site. There are toilets with tanks, they are what they are so count your blessings that they are there and you are pooping in a bucket. No running water, so compensate for that. There's a running creek, but even in the warm months its extremely cold. Bring warm clothing. Due to the altitude I'd be surprised if it ever gets really warm. I camped in august and slept with double layers.
