Wishon Bass Lake Campground, Bass Lake, CA

Wishon Bass Lake Campground is located in the Bass Lake Ranger District of the Sierra National Forest (1 hr 5 min north of Clovis, CA) with an elevation of 3,366 feet. There are a total of 47 campsites. The campground is normally open from the beginning of April to mid September. 38 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 20 and 30 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Fees range from $45.00 to $91.00.

This site is well shaded which helped during the hot day. But the biggest issue with this campground is it is in bear country with lots of signs warning this but there are NO bear boxes. Also lots of hornets/wasps with only one singular trap by the nearby bathroom. We went out and bought our own traps but despite catching many hornets/wasps, there were still too many to enjoy a meal sitting in one place.

This site is on a slope with only partial shade. But the biggest issue with this campground is it is in bear country with lots of signs warning this but there are NO bear boxes. We had a great time at site 45! Theres a view of the lake, its between two bathrooms, and we were able to park 4 cars in the driveway. Most of the site is slanted but we were still able to put up 2 tents comfortably. There is also not a lot of shade but at the edge of the site there are some trees that we were able to hang up some hammocks on.

Camp site was very nice. Good shade. Great parking. Room for several tents. The camp host was super flexible with check in. Nice people.

The camp site was so very slanted that there was no flat surface to set our tents or kitchen area. Only flat spot on entire site was under the picnic bench. The roads inside the campground were horrible. They were so degraded and the tree roots had destroyed so much of it that riding our bikes popped 3 of our tires on our 4 bikes.

The view of the lake from the site was beautiful but the site is extremely sloped. Picnic table was propped up one side with rocks to compensate for the slope. And the fire pit is also on this slope which is dangerous because you have to walk down the slope from your car. Other than accidentally twisting your ankle &/or catching fire, the view is beautiful.

I enjoyed my stay at Wishon. I went for walks by the lake and enjoyed the late spring wildflowers.

View of the lake is beautiful. Also quite conveniently close to the Yosemite south entrance. There were a lot of large families with kids, they seemed pretty happy with the swimming options. Extremely hard to find a flat spot on this campsite that would be big enough to fit our tiny 2 person tent. The night before we arrived there was reported bear activity on the site, and I could see why with the way people left food out.

Had so much fun spot 045 was great .. Close to the lake,Goodview,and nice and leveled ,maintenance lady was very nice and friendly thank you will rent again in future ..family had a blast!

My first time camping. We had a great experience, the location was beautiful. Easy access to the lake, restroom and trash bins. Campground host Carmen was super nice and helpful!

Our time at Bass Lake was great and we always stay at Wishon Campground. We stayed in site 26 and it was hot. I know they had to cut down trees in the past but I really wish they would consider planting new ones. I know the trees would take a while to grow but for the future campers it would be worth it. The best part of Wishon Campground was our host Carmen Hernandez. She kept the bathrooms stocked and clean, she was available when we needed her and she always had a smile on her face. We saw her prepping sites for the next guests and she not only picked up trash but she raked the spots and made them look so fresh and ready for new campers. Carmen is such an asset to the campground.

The new bear locks on the bins are great! Bathrooms were very clean and this year I went over the 4th of July. I’m an annual visitor to the lake and the campground is a family favorite.

This place is perfectly located on bass lake, only a 10min drive to the town and central to everything. Millers landing is walking distance for all your camping needs.

We arrived at the camp store at 8:28 pm to register, although the web sight showed that it was open until 9:00 pm there was a closed sign on the door. We went all the way back to the camp store the next morning only to find out that you can register with the host after hours. There should be instructions in the confirmation email that lets you know this as Wishon Point campground is quite far from the camp store. I was also disappointed in my camp sight as there was not a flat service to place our tent, which made for a very uncomfortable nights sleep.

Definitely more party campers or large group camping place. Was not my type camping. Ground is not even/ flat, hard to find leveled sport for tent. A lot of gophers’ holes and visitation. Host was nice and toilets were clean.
