Great campsite with plenty of space and easy water/bech access.However large area has no tree cover and it is very sandy.

I had the understanding we had paid for rental use of the area. As the day went on folks without reservations literally moved in and took over the small spot of beach area we were using. Bass Lake is so crowded it is no longer a enjoyable place for locals to go.

Nice, fairly secluded area. Mostly grassy.Good sitting and cooking area. Easy access to restrooms. Plenty of parking.Lake access through Scout camp.

Overall the campsite was great. Direct access to the beach for swimming and clean flush toilets. Plenty of picnic tables, two grills and a fire pit. Only issues:1) Very little shade, so bring canopies2) Strangers think it's okay to walk through the campsite to access the beach. This was very annoying. We had to keep asking them not to do it. Some listened, some didn't.

The over all campsite was in dis- repair. The tables were broken and in bad shape. There were no bear boxes in a bear area. The campsite was dirty , trash over flowing - no campground presence forest service personnel- Non registered people would pour in late and stay and party all night and leave and there was never any host or Forest service contact. We will not return we will go to Huntington next year- much better managed

Very disappointed. Our campsite (Acorn) did not have bear boxes to store food. We had to go back and forth to our car to get food. There was not enough shade. The trash bins near the bathrooms were in overflowing. The bathrooms needed cleaning. There was a group next to us that did not keep quiet hours from 10-6. They were up all night talking/laughing loudly until 5 or 6 in the morning.

For the first time in 19 years, the rangers allowed only those with our party to use and park at our site. It was amazing.

This spot is secluded and hidden from the main road unlike the other group sites on Recreation point. We actually drove in and unloaded our things which worked out because there are major uneven areas and most of the time we had to walk uphill every time we went to the lake or even the restrooms. After a couple days at the campsite it takes a toll on you so keep that in mind. Good shade and great view of the lake. The restrooms were clean and always stocked and check in was a breeze. Definitely will be back!

Had to pay an extra charge after I was paid in full a year in advance.

This spot (Recreation Point Oak Point Picnic Area) is a great spot with plenty of shade coverage.

Two out of the three days we were there, we left the campsite to do water activities only to come back to our side to find that we had been invaded. These people see that we reserved the site and see that our stuff is payed out. Apparently they didn’t care and there wasn’t anybody driving by checking into it. Bass Lake is beautiful but some of the people there have no respect.

I booked two large group sites (Scout and Knoll) for my Cub Scout pack. The kiddos were super excited to go fishing and kayaking... enjoying the lake. We paid a lot for our lake-front campsites, but it would be worth it to be so close to the water. Imagine our collective surprise when we arrived to find the lake was nowhere near our sites, and had been intentionally drained. We discovered that this is a normal thing that happens every year. There was no mention of it on the Recreation.Gov site, and they still charged us full price. We'll never go back. The "Scout" site is a pretty good one, with water onsite and bathrooms nearby. "Knoll" on the other hand was nearly unusable. Steep and overgrown. Dedicated campers may find room for one or two tents. Again we were charged full price, even though we couldn't use the site. To top it all off, we had to chase away a pedophile after he was discovered asking our kids if they knew someone who used to work at the camp ground, among other unusual questions. He had been lurking around in his pickup, and eventually pulled into the Knoll site (nobody was there because it's too steep to use) and had walked through the brush to talk to a group of boys who were playing in the dried up river bed. A pair of older boys went to get help, and I (the Cubmaster) and a few parents confronted him and asked him to leave. I work in abuse prevention. I know exactly what he was there for. @BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
