Methodist Cove Campground, Republican City, NE

Methodist Cove Campground in Harlan county is located 1 hr 43 min southwest of Grand Island, NE with an elevation of 1,946 feet. There are a total of 91 campsites. The campground is normally open from the beginning of April to the end of September. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 45 and 120 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring with grill. 32 sites have electric and water hookups. 29 sites have electric hookups. Fees range from $16.00 to $26.00. Some amenities include shower, dump station, playground, boat ramp, restroom, flush toilets. Activities include boating, fishing, floating sports.

Do not walk your dogs in the campground took me over an hour to dig Sanders out of my poor dog I had at least 30 of them in my little dog

The only negative comment I can think of is that lots of times we were there the grass was not mowed and its such a nice clean place to camp and the tall grass was kind of a bummer. We love Methodist cove and we go there frequently and usually stay 4-5 days at a time. Its very peaceful and pretty and your not cramped in a tiny area.

There are a few sites which over-look the lake & are on the "lake side" of the loop road. If you can get these I would highly recommend it. Our site was fine & the price was great. We were just passing through from PA to Colorado and so didn't spend much time there, but we did have our kayaks along and some spare time to kayak the lake. Unfortunately there is no convenient place to launch a paddle craft (the lake banks are steep), thus the 4 stars. If you trailer a boat, however you are in-luck as they do have a nice launch facility for that (double ramps), but it was steep and very busy while we were there.

Nice long pad for longer campers. Great view looking out over the lake. Not much for shade. Nice bike/hike trail into town.

Our stay at Methodist Cove Park was very enjoyable. There is a lot of space between campsites, and each campsite has a huge amount of space for parking a boat and/or multiple vehicles. The little town of Alma which is just a couple miles down the road has an awesome grocery store that had everything you would expect to find in grocery stores in much larger towns. We asked one of the groundskeepers if she could tell us where to buy firewood. She said we just needed to pick up the firewood that previous campers had left behind, and said she would pick some up for us if she found any. When we got back to our campsite later that day we found some firewood stacked next to our fire pit. The next morning we enjoyed our coffee next to a nice campfire because of her kindness. The whole campground was peaceful and quiet all week long, and I'm sure we will camp at Methodist Cove many more times in the future.

Love this campground. You can tell it is run by the Corps of Engineers and not the state of Nebraksa. The bathrooms are very clean which is very much appreciated.
