Beaware, the mosquitoes love the shade and shelter of site C08, we ended up changing to a less sheltered site.

We stayed for about a week in mid-August 2024 and very much enjoyed our visit to Minooka Park. Site E16 is right in the water and gives you plenty of scenic views and unfettered access to fishing from the shoreline. There no trees in the E-Loop and therefore no escape from the direct sun. In mid-August, it was very hot in and around our campsite. Site E16 is a back-in site with 20/30/50 amp electric hookups and a gravel pad which has a gentle slope toward the back (lakeside) of the pad. We were able to easily level our 25-foot Motorhome, but the slope is significantly more pronounced toward the front of the pad, and a longer rig might have a difficult time getting level. Overall, the park is very clean and well maintained with dumpsters dispersed throughout for easy disposal of trash. Both the flush and the vault restrooms were very clean and well stocked throughout our visit. For those who do a lot of camping, you know every campground has its own culture, and Minooka Parks culture is heavily directed toward family water sports. During the weekdays we were one of maybe 5 campers in the entire park, but Friday through Sunday every campsite was occupied, and almost all of the weekend campers had one or more watercraft with them. Large pontoon party boats, speed boats, bass boats and jet skis. All were present during our visit, and all disappeared from the campground during the day only to reappear a short while later out on the huge lake. Even when the campground was at capacity over the weekend, we found the campers to be well behaved and respectful of their neighbors. And by sundown on Sunday the campground was empty again and we had the entire E-Loop to ourselves. We would stay here again. HI CASSIDY!

Well, put it this way.. It was definitely a memorable yearly camping trip with the grandkids. We now refer to it as the Griswald Camping Trip. LOL. F09 campsite electricity faulted causing burn out of the camper air conditioner, refrigerator, microwave etc. Cut our trip short 4 days. That being said, the park was very prompt and attentive to the situation, moving us to a new site However the camper damage was already done.

We arrived on a Sunday the space next to us was set up with a camper we had to move on Thursday and move to and open spot the only open spot higher on the hill. The great spot next to us which was A09 never had anyone show up for 7 days that we know of spot a10 that was booked for the entire weekend never had a single person show up. This system is flawed these campsites have staff overseeing the site why would they allow people to rent spaces to either park a camper with no campers or in the other case no even a tent. We are relatively new to camping with this reserve system. 20 years ago we camped every weekend most of the summer first come first served. And you could only stay in one site for just a few days . We had an issue trying to move spots online and it resulted in us renting 2 spots for the same days. 30 minutes on the phone and three days later I was permitted to get my 10 dollars back for cancellation. Give the rangers and the park attendants more power to govern whats going on with these desired sites. The lake is down quite a bit cant dock a boat for the sticks and rocks on the beach. And fishing there cost me about 10 rigs broken to snags in the water. The weather was nice is why we had much of a good experience for the most part.

Whole Park lost power, could not reach anybody to figure out what happened or when power would be restored of course it was 5:00pm. 30 minutes later power came back on. Maybe they need to post emergency contact numbers other than 911 in case of situations like this. Other than that, it's always a great time. Remember, When the trailers a rocking don't come a knocking. Cheers!

A windy place, but love the park. Best through the weekdays and let the crazies have the weekeneds.

The good is that this lake is beautiful. The sunrise and sunset were lovely, and it was fun watching a storm blow through. The bad was pretty much everything else. The showers, which were at the beginning of the loop (still a good walk away), were creepy concrete stalls. Most were missing their doors and none had curtains. The water never got hot but at least it wasn't cold. The vault toilet near our site smelled especially ripe, perhaps due to someone deciding that a lid was unnecessary? It was bad. But the absolute worst thing was the bugs. I've never seen anything like it. We couldn't get in or out of our camper without letting in millions of gnats, mosquitos, flies and even a few grasshoppers and beetles. The gnats are so tiny they fit through window screens and it just made the entire nights sleep kind of awful. They got stuck in my freshly washed hair and except for when the wind blew through from the storm, they were just completely inescapable. I know bugs are part of nature, but this felt like an infestation and if I had known just how bad they would be, I wouldn't have stayed.

We went for a few days of camping just to get away. The site we had was a pretty good site with some shade. Had a good time. The only problem we had was getting our senior pass to work for the discount. One of the Corp of Engineer workers was able to get it to work and we did get reimbursed. This is the first time we had trouble with the senior pass.

Arrived in the dark and left before the sun was up so never got to really see this place. Bathroom kind of far away if you are tent camping but also could have probably done a better job checking this on the map. The site was spacious, was perfect for what I needed it for.

We had to wait for our spot to be vacated by the previous campers upon arrival after checkin time. They were moving two spots down and were in no hurry to move after we arrived. They left burning trash and food in the fire pit. After cleaning up after them, our stay was nice. The grounds were well kept and the views were great. My husband had a very nice conversation with the head ranger about the history of the lake and campground and learned about the stone fence posts he was so interested in.

Found this campground in the middle of Kansas on our epic journey from West Coast to East Coast! The first Corp Of Engineers managed facility experience. We were pleasantly surprised! The sites are spacious, had electric and water hook up. Since it was during a heat wave (100 and above), able to run AC was really nice. The only downside was bugs! Our site was by the lake and we can't keep bugs away. They get inside in quantity and our bug zapper worked really hard. So if you come during warm season, choose the non-lake side.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
