Very nice facility with electrical hookup. Site 11 is across from bath house, water & manure station making cleanup & disposal very easy. Horse tie out area could use some reworking as poles have been pulled way in & electrical panel box was backed over at some point leaving damage. This is one of my favorite spots to camp. Great riding, well marked trails that are basically easy for any novice. Rocky in certain areas. New trail maps are easy to follow. My one complaint is that the new reworking of the horse trails takes you away from the lake & my favorite waterside trail is now strictly a hiking trail off limits to horses. I can no longer get my horse out into the Basin Lake water. Real bummer. Overall I highly recommend Canebreak. I feel safe & secure when camping here.

Great campground but it could use some weed eating around the tie out posts. Overall great place to stay.

This is a horse camp. However, non-horse campers were allowed to stay who had UTV's and they did ride them around the campground. This should not be allowed in a horse camp. UTV's were being ridden around the horse camp and didn't slow down or stop for horse riders. This should not be allowed.

We love camping at Cane Brake with our horses. The River Trail and Lake Loop are very nice rides.

No camp host.High tie posts are very loose. Mats on some sites creating a safety hazard. In the last two years the place has deteriorated tremendously with no host.

Need a full time camp host on site. Campground was full on the weekend, but no host or Ranger presence.

Campgrounds are in rough shape.Tie line poles down at our site.Site is lacking attention.Hay and manure from previous rental.Bath house was good,Just a lot of cobwebs.

This weekend the campground was full but there was no host there. I think in the future on a busy weekend there needs to be someone there to look after things. Pushing up manure pits patrol dogs off of leashes etc.

Trails were great- cleared and well marked. Map was helpful and accurate. Biggest issue was lack of highlines bc I called with some questions and the lady specifically told me there were posts for highlines and cables to tie horse to. Had to go to tractor supply and spent $200 on high line equipment. Bathroom couldve been cleaned more often. Water wasnt turned on at dump station even though we were told dump station was open.

This is a great place to camp with your horses & many trails to rides, but the fact that non horse campers can take up our space & limit us on when we can come is not fair unless you are going to let us camp with our horses in the other campgrounds.......................

Great location. Having electric is nice. Shocked no water at sites. Clean out area was nice. Volunteer at campground was very helpful and friendly. Only suggestion I have is to make more camp sites like this. Several horse trailers in overflow lot. I think more there than in the campsite. Also, the Jeep/4wd people could use sites with water and electric. Please build more. If packed at Thanksgiving I can only imagen the summertime.

When we arrived at our campsite, the previous campers had just pulled out and dumped both holding tanks right on the site. This created a muddy mess with a really strong urine smell. Very unsanitary! Also, the horse campers on the next site tied one of their horses to a tree for 3 days who chewed the bark off the tree. The camp host was made aware of both of these problems. There were not enough wheelbarrows available to cleanup the horse areas. There was a non horse camper taking up a horse campsite while horse campers had to park in the overflow area. There needs to be better oversight to enforce the rules.

Nice place to stay. The horse people need more wheel barrows to clean up their site with.

Be aware that this horse camp is not exclusive. Unfortunately side by sides and other ATV owners are now staying in the horse camp. Be aware that the majority of the time there is not a camp host. Cell phone service is limited.
@kenp1414092 · Camped on Mar 24, 2023 at Campsite #16
This is a horse camp but there were no wheel barrows available.The weekend we were there we had no camp host. The cell phone signal which used to be good has real gotten weak the last few months. We camped with Carolina Mule Association this weekend and they are a great bunch to ride and camp with. Overall it is great place to stay with a little more upkeep and time it could be made better.

We love camping there. We usually camp Monday thru Friday. The campground is extremely quiet. We try to go once a month, weather permitting. Highly recommended.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
