I dont know what happened this particular Veterans weekend, but the site host was out of town and our group site gate was locked. Since check in was after 4 and the Ranger station was closed at 4:30 I couldnt get in the first night. The second night was better

Good area for large groups but shower temperatures were mediocre and timed push button.

We had an awesome time. The stand in camp host was awesome. This was our third year at this group camp and expect to continue to have out group's annual camping trip here.

The map on the boking site does not corolate w/ the site assignments when you arrive, I reserved site C on the map and it is actually site B on the forest service map.

Group campsite C provided a wonderful, well shaded area for our extended family camping get together of 45 people including adults and children. Parking is convenient at the site with spots for 6-8 cars. The site is large and provided 5 pads to set up large tents as well as plently of room to set up smaller tents and hammocks. One draw back was that there were only 2 picnic tables at the camping site. Group campsite C has a large fire pit. The fire pit does need cleaning and the rocks around the fire pit need to be reset. There is also an amazing grilling area separate from the firepit which we loved. Access to the lake area is about 1 mile down the road with plently of free parking. The route is easy to walk but driving and parking was helpful for children, coolers, chairs and beach stuff. A pit toilet is located right near the site which was clean and flush toilets with showers are just down the road easily walkable. Everyone had a great week!!

Campsite was spacious and easy to access from the parking area. Could definitely use another two picnic tables though. With it being rated up to 50 people, having more places to sit and eat would be great. There could also be more signage that indicates where the sites end and begin. Site C and D had a pathway between them that made us believe that they were all one site. It was not until we walked out to the road within the group camp that we could tell that these were two different sites. Signage on this path that indicates when you are leaving one site and entering another would be great. Floating down the Uwharrie River is a blast. You can put in at the Coggins Mine location and float down to the 109 takeout for a nice 7 mile trip. Great way to spend 4 hours.

The campsite itself was beautiful. Tree covered with a very woodsy atmosphere. The site was clean and had access to clean water. The only downside was that the vault toilet next to the site was almost completely full. However, the flush toilets were a just short walk away.

Great camp site for large groups, the toilets and showers are a bonus. Dumpsters on site are great for not having to pack out what you brought in.
@BenH442 · Camped on Nov 7, 2019 at Campsite #A
While I am sure many would like this group campsite, we DID NOT..! Because the camp site is really setup for ground tent camping, not roof top tent (on the Jeep) camping, it did not work well for us. The parking for the RTT camping is quite far from the fire pit and cooking area's as well as limited in space. We would not choose this spot again, unless we were ground tent camping.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
