The permanent tent sits on Hardtimes loop have attracted a noisy lot. Competing sites trying to blast music over the top of of each other and children spitting on pedestrians walking the loop. Dogs barking all night... I'll not be back.

Personnel at the gate are very friendly and helpful. I love thats its super natural and quiet, even the beach area. Selling firewood and ice at the campsite was so convenient! Only took off 1 star since the water never really got warm or hot in the showers.

Loved being in the woods surrounded by the peace of nature but yet close to business amenities and the perks of having access to the NC Arboretums trail systems

I enjoy it at Pow' and I can see improvements to the sites. The cost has gone up enough that i cannot afford to go as much as before. Please. No more price increases! I look forward to trying to fish and be by the lake - I did not get to this time.

The campground is beautiful and clean. I had an issue with my camper upon arrival. Don and Marissa went out of their way to help me, even though it was after hours. My son and I keep commenting on how friendly the staff were. Strongly recommended,

Great place that is very close to all the goods that are found in AVL and surrounding area. However, there should be a ban on smoking cogs in campsites as not everyone wants to smell that crap while camping. Especially around children! Its annoying!

The campgrounds are very nice. They are kept up and camp sites are a good size. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Came all the way from south Florida! It was my first time ever camping! we did tent camping and i had the most amazing 9 days at Lake Powhatan. The campsite is beautiful! trees everywhere so its mostly shaded and cool! the bathhouse was clean and the showers were warm. I loved it so much! Cant wait to be back.

Campground is well located to Asheville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Camp site is large with tree cover and has asphalt vehicle and RV parking area. Stayed in Site 36A in a 40-foot fifth wheel.

Swim Beach was not something I would go here for, the water is stagnant and dirty, and the water is so hot at the campground bathroom we cannot even take a bath, I mentioned that at the gate to fix but it was not, apparently they want people in and out fast .Overall my experience with the USFS sites is not that great, they are not very well maintained like the state park.

Great campground. Large spaces and private. Only complaint were the showers. The water trickled (and that's being nice) out of the shower head. Otherwise it was a great stay. Make sure you check if your site has water if not fill the tank up first.

Restrooms and showers were kept clean and stocked daily. Theyre strict about items being in the bear containers. The sites are immaculate and neighbors are polite. Surrounded by amazing bike and hike trails.

Weve thoroughly enjoyed previous stays in this camp ground. This stay was definitely not enjoyable. The camp host let their dogs run off leash during our entire stay, and seemed to have a strange avoidance to wearing shirts. The bathrooms were dirty and one door wouldnt lock. I went to a different bathroom on the same loop and it was like walking into a haunted house. There were spider webs and very large spiders everywhere. One was in the toilet tissue holder and another in the sink and toilet bowl. These were massive spiders. I am an avid camper and know that communing with nature often results in meeting all sorts of creatures. The bathroom obviously hadnt been swept out in a while though. The front gate staff were welcoming and kind as always.

Nice campground in a beautiful setting. Great place to unplug and enjoy nature. The lake, streams, walking trails, and mountain vistas make you feel like youre miles away from everything even though youre near the conveniences of the city. My husband is an avid fly fisherman and caught native trout in the little stream near our campsite.Campsites offer the basics including bear boxes. Bath house is adequate. Campground staff are helpful and friendly. During our stay, other campers were considerate and followed campground rules.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
