Overall, the campground was nice - the spots along the river were very large, shaded, clean and close to the beautiful river. The trails are also beautiful with multiple waterfalls. We booked site #1 and were very surprised at how small it was. We had a 4 man tent and the space really wouldnt be able to accommodate more that a 1-2 man. Fortunately our friends had site 2 booked which was plenty big enough for us all. There was also quite a bit of trash - mostly empty alcohol bottles and cans at our reserved site. We were there from Saturday to Monday and the camp host was never available. The out sign was in place the entire weekend. We wanted to ask where we could get local wood since there was none available for purchase at the campsite. That was a bit disappointing as well. Overall, we will be back and will adjust based on what we learned this first trip.

Pulled up to our reserved spot to find another camper already there. Camp host was out and we didn't feel like hanging out in the campground which is essentially a parking lot. Disappointing experience.

We loved camping here!! The sound of the creek is very soothing. What a great way to relax and unwind.

2nd trip in a year, quiet and peaceful especially if you are near the creek. Short drive into Old Fort, Black Mountain, or even Asheville.

Curtis Creek is a great campground with very good hiking within yards of the campsites, large, mostly flat creek-side campsites and decent infrastructure that was kept clean while we camped there. Curtis Creek and branches running to and from around the campground provide gorgeous, peaceful natural surroundings- some of the best in the area. The hike along Hickory Branch in particular is excellent, with multiple waterfalls- some small, some large- all beautiful.

Great Campground No extras, just camping as camping should be.

Nice place nestled in the valley

The site was a little difficult to find, but once there, was well worth it. The creek was absolutely gorgeous and the staff was more than pleasant. If you look to "live off-the-grid" this place is it!!! We only stayed one night, but would definitely stay again.

Curtis Creek was the exact camping spot we needed! Remote, no cell service, clean and quiet! We absolutely loved it. We booked #13 to be away from the road and cars, it was amazing! Snooks Nose trail is right across from the campground as well, if you enjoy very steep hikes ;)! We will be back

We have enjoyed coming to this campground a couple of times a year. we have a need to be adjacent to the disabled spot and have always been able to secure it. The previous hosts were always charming and very helpful any time we needed assistance. Since our travel trailer is 33 ft long, it had always been a little bit of a challenge getting located on the site because it was tricky dealing with the rocks placed along the grass area. Last year, the host moved some of the rocks and guided us in with much less difficulty.At our visit last weekend, were delighted to see the rocks had been removed -- and getting the trailer on site was a piece of cake. A big thank you to whoever moved the rocks. I do need to add that the current Hosts were also very nice and very welcoming.

My harchback tent filled with water due to downpours, my attached awning to my rails and crossbars broke during a storm, slapping the side of my minivan, and my sun shelter had its fiberglass rod on one side absolutely shredded, no cell phone service at all. Site hosts did not stay on site very much, but they were kind. I had to return to Greenville, NC because of malfunctions but did come back before the end of the stay, traumatized by it.

Amazing quiet green place. Great to havent any cell connection. Be aware of the size of your equipement. Access road is narrow some places.

This is not a good spot for rvs over 20 feet, as the road is narrow a dirt for several miles . Also there is no power or water at sites no shower house bathroom is a glorified porta potty, only water is a spigot outside of toilet. Great for tent camping

Quiet, clean campground. Wish they sold firewood there.
@AnneF6212939 · Camped on Nov 3, 2023 at Campsite #15
The campground was more spread out than others which I really liked. The walk in tent sites were pretty private which was great! There is not cell reception and the bathrooms are well maintained vault toilet, but that is the reason for my very good vs excellent review. I would highly recommend!

This is a beautiful place with trailheads. Plan to stay more than 1 night so you can hike the trails on site! As you're driving in on the gravel road, Curtis Creek Rd., you kind of feel like you're not in the right place. After passing private residences, you will make it to the camp eventually!

Noisy, crowded, & buggy

Excellent experience except for the smell of the bathroom when the wind was blowing our way. Next time we will pick a site away from the bathroom.

We loved the remoteness of Curtis Creek Campground, while having the cutest town of Old Fort, NC just down the road. The campground host was kind and welcoming. We truly enjoyed our experience!
@ArthurM5311098 · Camped on Aug 18, 2023 at Campsite #17
One of my new favorite places to camp. Lots to do in area, or you can just lay in the creek. Vault toilets and sites were very clean.
@Elizabeth65783 · Camped on Aug 16, 2023 at Campsite #11
The pit toilets were truly the cleanest pit toilets ever. The camper sites are very close together and there was some resulting dog drama among our neighbors. But the mountain biking right down the road was great. The camp host was very kind. There is no cell service and he made sure to let us know he had a land line if we had any issues at all or needed a phone.
@RodgerM582C778 · Camped on Aug 7, 2023 at Campsite #7
no host ,but very clean campsites but the bathrooms need attention on a daily basics the smell was pretty bad in the hottest part of the day but we love going to curtis creek campground its close to home and we can go home everyday and feed our chickens and make sure everything is okay at home

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
