Gone Creek Campground, Government Camp, OR

Gone Creek Campground is located in the Zigzag Ranger District of the Mt. Hood National Forest (1 hr 22 min southeast of Gresham, OR) with an elevation of 3,258 feet. There are a total of 50 campsites. The campground is normally open from the end of May to mid September. 11 sites can accommodate RVs between 30 and 120 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Fees range from $22.00 to $52.00.

Washrooms were spotless and the camp host Harry was very helpful and very pleasant to be around. Camp ground was quiet, sites were big and private and the lake with Mt Hood in the backdrop is amazing.

Tireless hosts, spotless campsites, well maintained facilities - an amazing campground. Limiting boat ramp use to Gone Creek campers made everything better - less congestion, better access to play in the water.

Timothy lake is always great. This was our first time at gone creek. We were in site 09 with was not too far from the lake but it was on a hill sort of. Not steep, just unexpected. Camp hosts are very friendly and helpful.

This campsite was nice a private, probably one of the quietest campgrounds I have been to (even camping over the 4th of July). Quick access to the water. I would say this site is really probably better suited for people with trailer/campers. We had to put our tents up on the gravel parking strip (which was okay since we air mattresses) but there was really no ground area in the site to put up a tent with how they have the fire pit and table spaced.

I have been coming to Gone Creek for many years now, and this year was my best experience ever. The sites and facilities were so well maintained and the camp hosts were the best ever. I appreciate the hooks installed on the posts with the dog bags, which I also appreciate. This allowed me to tie up my dog while I used the restroom. I was somewhat concerned about the number of vacant sites. We booked 6 mos. in advance and had difficulty getting sites. It looked like some sites were no shows or just not booked. I admit I am still getting used to the new reservation policies. Thank you for a great experience. I'll be back!

Beautiful location! I have been to other Timothy Lake campgrounds before, but I think Gone Creek may be my favorite! Reception (Verizon) is very spotty and the campground can get a little noisy at times, but the camp host was friendly and helpful!

Lovely campground. Attentive camp hosts. The cleanest pit toilets I've ever encountered. My only wish is that we were allowed to fill our fresh water tank in our camper.

Excellent campground. Site 22 is a larger site but it is pretty uneven; however, there are two flat spots that will accommodate tents. Bathrooms were the cleanest anywhere I've ever been and the hosts were all great. Firewood on site.
