Doug for campground was quiet and peaceful! The bathrooms are very well tended to, and the campsite was clean. We were in camp 29, but close enough to the river to hear it roar.

Ron and his side kick Ella are exemplary hosts!

Camp was beautiful and well maintained. The River was a perfect soundtrack for camp. Site #20 was perfect for our campervan. The toilet facilities were the cleanest I have ever experienced. The camp host Ron was great! He was always available and made sure the facilities were kept clean. 5 stars!

Really nice primitive campground, with odor-free pit toilets that have hand sanitizer available (and cute signs on the walls!). The one nearest our site even had a motion-sensing night light. We saw a pump-operated water spigot in the site 2-18 area and a solar-powered water spigot in the site 19+ area but we didn't test them. Do pay attention to RV length limits because we noticed several shallow sites as we walked around.

I love this campground. It does not have a lot of amenities but it the campsites are beautiful and peaceful, and its close to the gorgeous hiking trails at Mt. Baker. The host does such a good job of keeping the place clean and tidy. Best pit toilets in the state!

I stayed at Site #22 on August 8 - ThursdayVery open and beautiful, next to the river. The sound of the river is very soothing and relaxing.It rained with lightning and thunderstorm that evening. Very nice hearing rain on the tent.The view of Nooksack River North Fork from the site is amazing non obstructed.The bathrooms were very clean, the host put hand sanitizer, a Home Depot bucket for trash and decorations.The host really care about camper's experience! Thank You!There's burn ban in the summer, but they allowed propane fire pits.Make sure you know the length of your trailers, the pull through we're spacious. The campground is very nice compared to some state and forest campgrounds that I've been to.There we're a few empty sites with a reserved sign so I wonder if the host just put those up for looks to keep people out or people just don't show up.Overall this campground is very nice and would definitely come back here if I need a place to stay for a few nights.There is NO Cellphone Service, which is nice!

What I loved most about this campground was the host and his attention to details. From the extra solar lights by the river for safety to the extremely clean vault toilets. The host keeps high standards at this location. I was very impressed and would stay here over the closer Silver Fir because of the quality, cleanliness and friendliness. On this trip, I stayed at both locations and enjoyed my stay at Douglas Fir very much! Beautiful place to visit. Thanks for making it memorable!!!

The place is one of our favourite camping sites. This time we stayed in 15 and it was very quite and spacious. Only one thing I had problem is that water pump is too far.

We had a wonderful experience at Douglas Fir CG. The camp host , Ron, gets 6 stars out of 5. He was able to accommodate our need to change campsites, had the cleanest , well equipped vault toilets Ive ever seen, and also, his great sense of humor added to our experience. We loved our four nights there!

Caretaker Ron was extremely helpful in helping us to extend our stay by finding us an unreserved site for two more nights; the vault toilets were very clean and cared for. There were some sites that could fit our small camper which was needed.

The campsite is stunning. The hiking trail on the other side of the highway is worth every step you take. Absolutely beautiful. Moss covered trees, mushrooms, and berries everywhere. The red huckleberry are delicious. Such a lush landscape surrounding you everywhere. You can see houses across the river, which was a surprise to see civilization when the area feels so remote. If traveling in an RV or trailer, be warned; while the website may say a site can accommodate your rig, the ability to level your rig is a whole different story. Camp host Ron was able to move us to a site for our 6 day stay that would work for our 30' RV. He was great. I highly recommend this campground!

We love camping by the river here. The camp host was extremely helpful when I ended up with a flat tire. Such a great experience that I am trying to book another visit for this summer.

Host let us switch to a riverfront site after one night. He was very kind, friendly, and funny! So accommodating and made our stay special by letting us switch sites midway through. The vault toilets are clean. The artist point ones were disgusting and had no toilet paper, so bring some along if you plan to go up there. It was stunning panoramic views so it is recommended to go see artist point! Absolutely worth the 45 min drive, and the drive is beautiful to boot. We managed to find some tiny swim/dip holes on the nearby hike that were sheltered from the rapids. The water was ice cold and not safe for kids or dogs, but incredibly refreshing. Bring crocs or water shoes for wading if you plan on it! The river sounds are relaxing at night. Not a ton of stars because of the nearby town, but the town is very convenient for if you forget anything. You can buy wood bundles for $10 each at the campsite. We plan on returning eventually, this place is a gem.

As the other reviews said, the camp host is super friendly and the pit toilets were sparkling clean (they were even decorated). I stayed in spot 22, which wasnt big but the river view was stunning. On my weeklong van trip this was my favorite campground.
@RobertC4745893 · Camped on Jun 13, 2024 at Campsite #4
Doug Fir is one of the best campgrounds to stay at - the sites are well spaced apart on the loop and the river is beautiful. I come every year and it never disappoints. Ron the host is awesome - he's friendly, checks in to make sure you're doing okay, and makes it clear he's available if you need anything. Pit toilets are pit toilets, but these are the cleanest I've seen in my numerous park experiences - it makes a big difference. A beautiful, well maintained campground and a great place to camp. I also love that there are no RV hookups; it's a quiet experience. If you're looking for a great place to camp in the area, this is the place.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
