We booked 4 nights during the week but stayed only 2 in our Class C motorhome due to being so isolated. The directions to the campground were not accurate, after you "Cross the bridge and turn right on Suiattle River Road and continue approximately 9 miles to Buck Creek Campground" you reach the National Forest. The campground was another 5-6 miles down a one-lane overgrown rough gravel road. There were 2 other campers there the first night, but we were the only ones in the campground the second night. We decided to leave after 2 nights due to concerns for our safety (no cell service or anyone else around). We didn't see anyone from the Forest Service until the morning we left. Beautiful campsites along the roaring glacier fed creek but too isolated for our comfort level. Not recommended for larger RV's due to access issues.

A very beautiful small campground right next to Buck Creek. We had the whole campground to ourselves for a Thursday night in mid July. Note that half of the campground has been closed for several years, so there are only about 12 sites, which is fine. The sites next to the creek are reservable except for one. The other sites are first come first served. Bring your own water.

Easy to use reservation system at Recreation.gov. Appreciated the automatic reminders of upcoming visit dates, current rules, and fire notices. Camp ground was super clean, tidy and quiet. Vault toilets were...well, they are vault toilets after all, but not a mess. Great job by the Darrington Ranger District taking care of our public use lands and keeping campgrounds in key locations open for all to use. Wish more campgrounds would remain open a little longer than Memorial to Labor Day months.

Rough hour long ride on the dirt road to the site. It's worth it, but it's a hell of a ride to get there.

My site was by the creek and it made for great white noise. Was a little concerned being so close to the road but I had my trustee guard dog with me. If it wasn't for the burn ban, I am sure my experience would have been a lot different. Beautiful scenery from Darrington all the way to the site

We had a wonderful time at Buck Creek. Our favorite part was discovering that the pit toilets smelled so nice! Never had that experience before and it was due to the efforts of our Camp Host, Rob. We met him the day we were leaving as he was emptying the trash for the second time while we were there. He works so hard to keep this camp looking good. There was no trash around or broken bottles. We hope he gets to continue keeping this campground the best. We were fooled by the lovely paved road to get to the campground as it eventually ended and we had a potholed 15 mile ride towing our tiny trailer. We broke one coffee cup, but next time we know to secure everything. The campsite itself was just above the creek and so incredibly beautiful. We hiked, we fished, we collected rocks and had so much fun. It was so peaceful and very few people there. Loved it and will be back. Just slow down on the dirt road. Shout out to Rob for working so hard!

When we reserved it says spot 2 was trailer friendly up to 40ft but you most definitely could NOT get a trailer up that road as it dead ended. Not a big problem for us as thankfully there were other spots, but something to keep in mind. The road in is narrow and full of potholes (about 3 miles worth), but once you get to the campground its beautiful. Well maintained and the rushing river was beautiful to fall asleep to.

Quiet secluded area along the Buck Creek. Well spaced sites, it was filled that weekend, but still quiet. Just a few sites left, many of them closed permanently.

Normally I would rate this a 5 star. I love this rustic campsite because it's quiet, serene and secluded off the beaten path. When I booked my site, I picked the last site in a dead end loop so I'd have some privacy. But 5 different families decided to break the rules and camp on sites that are officially closed and not reservable!!! Some even camped at site that has been closed in YEARS. Another family took a site that has the best view in the campsite even though it has been closed for a few years. Just doesn't seem fair to the folks that follow the rules and reserved it ahead of time. There was a new sign up as you drive in stating that ALL SITES ARE RESERVABLE. In previous years, there was a camp host to regulate these things but no camp host in site all weekend. Not even a ranger to check on things.

Great campground stayed in 22! Very clean and quiet. Their was enough space between each campsite which was great. Creek was beautiful and was semi accessible from our site. I believe their was some bald faced hornets near our tent but they were a minor nuisance.

Buck creek campground is beautiful but not being managed properly. This weekend we showed up for our camping reservation to find out that the host has not updated any of the sites. Someone else was in our site due to this. If you’re going to charge money and accept reservations it’s imperative that you make sure that the sites are updated with the proper signage. Also it lookEd like for the restrooms had not been serviced at all.

Beautiful, listening to the water is very relaxing, trails to walk/hike, and dogs are welcome. Best place to go to get away from it all.

My family has been camping at Buck Creek for over 40 years. I understand that with the devastation of the early 2000's that the campground suffered much - and there are a lot of sites no longer available, but every year there is less and less sites available. We come with a big group and had stayed at sites 6, 7 and 8 for years - then when they were damaged and not repaired, we went with #5 & 4 and then this past year, 2019, #5 was closed down - leaving only 3 sites on this side of the campground. There was no camp host on site and over the course over 6 days, only saw him once. Outhouses needed attention and especially toilet paper, fortunately we always travel with our own. So sad that there are no funds/programs to keep this great part of the Baker National Forest up and running.

My friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Buck Creek Campground. We needed a staging place for us to prepare to hike in to resupply some friends who were on the PCT. Buck Creek was ideal for this and would also just be a nice place to camp and hike around.

What a lovely little campground! We enjoyed our stay here. Sites along the creek all had a pathway leading down to the water. No campground host (at least there wasn't one when we statyed). Bring your own firewood & water. We did not see any firewood for the sale along the road. About the road...it is quite an adventure itself. Lots of huge potholes. I suggest driving very slow.

We had a lot of fun camping at Buck Creek. The grounds were nice and our spot had a nice and secluded feel about it. The roads getting to the camp area is really bad and saw a couple of people who got flat tires due to the horrible road conditions (huge pot holes). It would be nice if the other spots that were damaged by flooding a couple of years ago would get fixed to open up spots.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
