The site across from us had a generator running 24 hours a day. It never shut off. No quiet time after 10:00 pm. This site also had 5 vehicles parked on it. It was not what we were expecting as we have camped at many forest service campgrounds.

The reservation system for the campgrounds in general are totally ridiculous. The campgrounds are not even half full when there are people that want to camp but cant get a spot because of the way the system is being run!!!

Too much poison ivy

North loop site #1 was rather private, unlike the rest of the sites which were packed in right next to each other. The toilets were clean and well cared for. Nice secure areas to put the boats. Really wish that folks didnt feel the need to run their generators 24/7.

Campground hosts were very poor - campsites were not clean, hosts were partying at night, did not enforce quiet hours at all. Most disappointing camp we’ve had in 25 years.

Nice campsites. Vault toilets are well maintained. Have been camping there since the 1960’s.

Beautiful campground and sites. Loons called on the lake at night, unforgettable.

Nice, large sites! Quiet and beautiful setting. Our site (North Loop 8) had steps down to the swimming beach. For those wanting to avoid steps, there is a more gradual sloped path a few sites down. The vault toilets were very clean. Remember to fill your rig’s water tank before arrival and bring your firewood as there is none for sale at the campground.

Great campground for those who don’t need all the extra amenities. I wish there was still firewood available onsite though.

We stayed at camp site 2 north loop. the campsite was clean, had a beautiful view of the lake and stairs to go down the beach. The vault toilet was clean and have toilet paper and disinfectant gel too. We spent our day hiking, the Chippewa National forest has so many options, We hiked for more than 8 miles and did not see a single soul.

Excellent campground! I'm a car camper who uses a tent and camps alone. I like the solitude. This campground has numerous sites that are relatively private. I will say there was a large group my second night that was loud well after quiet time. This probably should have been dealt with better. I just didn't worry about how much noise I made when I went fishing before sunrise. The boat landings were sketchy at best. One did not reach the lake and it would have been easy to get stuck. The one closest to the campground had a channel that was very low. Another fisherman told me he lost his transducer in the channel. I understand lake levels were low but this is not an uncommon occurrence. There should be a better way to access the lake during drier summers. The outhouses were the cleanest ever! There were also plenty of outhouses. I shall return!

First review of a NF campground. Felt it's time since I've been traveling to different NF this year. Deer lake camping was very nice for me. It's tucked away 20 miles out of Deer River Wisconsin among the many lakes and trees. The dirt road leading to it has a couple other NF campgrounds, but Deer Lake south is the last on the dead end road. So not much traffic to be heard. The campground had decent cell service (Verizon) so for those who have to check in with the family will be fine. My only complaint would be the use of generators. Guess there's more fisherman than true campers. Lol. Jon

We camped in North Deer Lake #9. The steps going down to the Lake are terrible. The steps really need to be fixed. Thank you.

The campsite I was in had a mixture of sun and shade. The lake was beautiful and not very crowded with excellent fishing for walleyes and northern pike. The camp host did not have firewood for sale so pick some up locally before you head out.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
