Great campground! Bring your bike and shade.

Stayed off-season (Nov) but on a holiday weekend. Still plenty of open spots. Spot C3 was great! 31 total length travel trailer backed all the way up to the curb left me enough room to barely park the truck across the front of the site and still be inside the lines (within 6-8 of not having enough room).Access trail to the beach right behind the site. Beach was nearly empty all Veterans Day weekend. Temps 40s-60s. No mosquitoes at this time of year.Dump site (across street from main entrance) was well maintained. One potable water spigot and one non-potable (with threaded end for tank flush) available.Only downer: Grass in the site and sand in the dune atea are full of sand spurs/sticker burrs so watch out for bare feet and paws. Beach didnt have them.

It was my first time camping, but everyone was wonderful and so was the campsite!

Beautiful, spacious and close to beach. We stayed one night in early November. It was warmer than normal I think and the mosquitos showed up in the morning - our site was near brush. Best part was sky gazing at night with almost total darkness. We took our truck and trailer on the ferry from Hatteras(free). Then caught the Cedar Island Ferry to mainland ($45).

Nice campground in great location. Well kept, but no hot showers. Oregon Inlet has showers, so Ocracoke needs to get them.

Great location. Clean site and bathrooms. Dump station was solid. Right time of the yearcool nights few bugs.Need to allow solo type stoves for fires at campsites.

Beautiful campground, a close walk to the beach, dark sky at night. About three miles from town and there's a bike path as well as a paved road. Good restaurants, a great coffee shop, a unique destination.

I think this is the best campsite of them all for space, shade, beach access, and privacy. The weather was unusually great. We came in the beginning of November and the mosquitos were still out in droves at dusk. Insect repellant only sort-of worked - we used Deep Woods Off. The dampness was another consideration. It was as if it was raining. Cell phone reception was good with Verizon.

Had a great time. The campground was very clean and staff very nice. Just wish the showers had warmer water. lol. I will be back next year.

Really nice campground with outdoor and enclosed showers, clean restrooms, friendly hosts, and a great bike path into town. We had perfect weather and sunny October beach days. Would stay there again in a heartbeat!

I am leery of writing a positive review because then Ocracoke Campground will be overrun, overbooked, and over for me. There are three reasons to come to Ocracoke. 1) You are from there or have family there 2) you are a fisherman 3) you want to peace and privacy on a sparsely populated barrier island. Ocracoke Campground is superbly maintained and definitely facilitates numbers 2 and 3 above.

I have a camper that operates entirely on solar. While I was camped there the level of the batteries charged by the solar array fell below a required minimum. Correcting the problem required a brief charge from a source of "shore power." There was none to be found anywhere on the campground. I even asked the hosts who said they weren't able to provide some for even the few minutes that would have resolved the problem. As a result I had to pack up and leave early. I doubt that I will be the only person who finds himself in this situation. This campground would have gotten five stars from me if I had been able to gain access to shore power for a brief period of time measured in minutes.

The location is wonderful. it's peaceful and far from overly crowded. It was worth the additional distance I had to drive to get there.On the other hand, I had trouble with the solar array that is the sole source of recharging the lithium batteries that provide electricity to the "house" portion of the RV. The owner's Manuel said I might be able to solve the problem by hooking up to shore power for a few moments. I was unable to find our use any place on the campground what would permit even a few moments use of shore based electricity. I left a day early as a result.

Great campground. We stayed in the loop for tents, just a short walk over the dunes to the beach. Would be very hot in the summer (no shade), but pleasant in the fall. Be aware - Ocracoke is very buggy away from the beach!

One of my main critiques is if the site is level and ours was. Access was easy and the location close to the water enable us to get magnificent views and pictures of the sunrise.

the camp grounds was well maintained staff was very help full over all it was a pleasant time but i forgot what it was like to camp with no hookups next time i will plan a little better its just my opinion from camping there in the late 80s they need to remove a lot of the brush to open up the looks of the camp grounds

I camped in a tent. It tends to be windy there with sandy soil. If tent camping , bring tent stakes that will hold against strong winds. Be sure to visit Springer Point at the village of Ocracoke for a nice short hike through a coastal forest to a pretty beach on the sound.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
