No hot showers

Very basic campground close to the beach. There are no electrical hookups, hence you have generators running from 6am-10pm, this can be very noisy. There are (5) cold showers for the whole campground and the lines can get long especially in the evening hours from 6pm-8pm. There are (2) more outdoor showers for a quick rinse off but of course no privacy. The toilet houses are newer and clean.We have been there 2 times and if you know what to expect is fine. One true negative, as the campground isn't every expensive there are a lot of no-shows for reserved spots, especially for the prime spots close the dunes.

Beautiful campground. Facilities were clean and well maintained. I would suggest a Handicap Boardwalk within the campground for beach access. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

Great experience!

We camp at Ocracoke a couple of times per year, and as usual, we had a great time. The campsite is well-run, close to the beach and close to the village - without being too close. Good clean bathrooms and showers.

As always, a lovely place to fall asleep listening to the lulling sound of ocean surf!

female host rude. for example, she called me at about 8:30 pm to tell me not to see the other host as he was in some sort of orientation and not yet "on duty"

I've been going here since I was born. The campground is always nice and clean and the beach is literally a minute walk over the dunes from any campsite!

Beautiful location. The closest you can get to an oceanfront stay on Ocracoke Island. It was also a treat to be so close to the protected sea turtle nest sites. Also saw a really interesting assortment of plants, including cacti (be sure to wear shoes at the campsite!) Hearing the frogs and waves from my tent at night was unreal and really gave a sense of really being immersed in nature. My dog LOVED sleeping out here. The bathroom/shower were much appreciated. Also great to have a place to fill up my water bottle and an outdoor shower to remove the sand after coming off the beach. If youre looking for a quiet and peaceful stay at the beach in which you will feel truly immersed in nature, this is a fantastic place to stay!

Beautiful location right by the beach. this site was on a dune, we camped in the sand. the site was big enough for 2 tents and fit both cars in the parking spot. we had a lovely time and it was so private and clear out. definitely bring bug spray and watch for fire ants. The bathrooms were well kept and we loved our time here.

Great campsite. Nice host. Showers need a renovation, but it's similar to other Outer Banks National Campgrounds.

The campsite host is TERRIBLE!!! Not friendly, arrogant, RUDE. I have been coming to this campground since 2006 and she made it a most unfriendly experience. Constant harassment about keeping dogs leashed!!! I could not get out of the camper without her trotting out of her camper watching to see if I had them leashed! Demanded I turn my generator off when she could not even here it!! It is built into my F150. Park ranger said my generator was OK. There wasn't another camper within 1000'. GET RID of her!

Amazing and the volunteers were wonderful.

This is an excellent and well-managed campground. The grounds were pleasantly lawn-like (not easy to achieve in such a sandy area) and all the facilities were clean and well-maintained. The only suggestion I would make to the management is to install a boardwalk leading to the ocean. We ended up driving to facility closer to town because the beach access was less of a slog.

Clean and quiet

This campsite is only for the brave and adventurous! Weve had it twice now. First in October and the mosquitoes were relentless. Second was in July and the black flies were even worse.. Woke up to hundreds that had gotten through the tent screen and were basically trapped turning us into a giant biting fly trap! Some animal took our small trash bag one evening after just walking up the dune to see the beach (dont worry they got what they were after and we cleaned up the mess with smiles on our faces, lesson learned). Your own scenic trail to the beach is a big plus and has plenty of privacy. Recommend setting up past the trees more out in the open (this last time we set up in the trees to avoid rain and think thats the reason for the black flies). Shortish walk to the restrooms and shower house but bring plenty of water and definitely bug spray. Adventure awaits!

The campground was quiet despite being fairly full when we stayed. The facilities were very clean and the location was amazing! Also, despite lots of rain leading up to our stay and during our stay, there were no mosquitoes to speak of. We werepleasantly surprised that the ground was not saturated with water so our tenting experience was still fantastic.

Beautiful location but watch out for mice. I had them all over my site.

Beautiful, convenient, even with the heat it was such a nice stay!!

If you arent one of the first people to reserve a site right next to the dunes, this is your next best option! Lots of privacy with a tucked away canopy of trees providing much needed shade on a summer day. The sleeping pad location got lots of wind and airflow at night. Bathrooms were a quick walk away and well maintained. Dont be tempted to be one minute closer to the beach and stay on the inner perimeter of the loop- with zero shade- this is your spot! Great beach location as well!

Everythings good but you should think to turn some sites electric!
@NoelleKAC059DB · Camped on Jul 5, 2024 at Campsite #B30
Great area! Would love for a little more enforcement of quiet hours, a lot of generators were running well into the night.
@WilliamG690099 · Camped on Jul 3, 2024 at Campsite #A24
Too many dogs left in camp by their owners, and too many owners not picking up after their dogs.Someone actually left a bag of door poop on a trail through the dunes between camp and the beach.We have been enjoying this campground for more than 10 years, and we may not come back.

Nice place. Just needs to upgrade the shower
@DeborahS476998 · Camped on Jun 29, 2024 at Campsite #D4
Not for the faint of heart, the camping experience at Ocracoke is beach camping at its best. Hot, sunshine, sand and surf abound and the cold shower at the end of the day is heavenly.

Thanks to all our Supporting Members

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
