Rude ranger that complained about our cars not on the pavement and we had 2 tires on the payment, she said they need to be moved. When we spoke to a different ranger he said we are parked correctly. She complained about our electric bikes and said we could not ride them. When we walked to the other side of the camping area. Same bikes had been used from different campers. When we told her the next day she said she did not see them. But she was flirting with a guy in a truck and was not paying attention or she was discriminating against us.

We have camped here for years. This was the worst experience we have ever had. We were told that we had to have 2 tires on the payment. We had 2 tires and said next time it would be a warning.. then same ranger complained we could not ride our electric bikes. When others had the same bikes and was not told anything. And we know this because she was flirting with a guy in the truck right across as the kids rode the bikes. We got woken up 3 mornings in a row at 8 am. Could not even enjoy our weekend. We felt harassed the entire time we were camping. Same ranger every morning.

One of the nicest campgrounds we have ever stayed in. Well spaced sites, lovely views and full facilities. Quiet and peaceful.

Many issues at this campground. Bathrooms are often out of order (no hot water, showers offline, stalls closed down, no TP, etc). The camp host has a noisy dog that barks constantly. The campground is very popular with local homeless and is frequently populated with unhoused people. Generally an unsafe vibe now. It is noisy at this campground and rangers wont do anything about aggressive dogs brought by the unhoused. Lots of creepy people in old rundown vans camping the full two weeks. The campground is also a mess. Lots of trash on the trails and in camp. Avoid this campground if you have an alternative.

We had a great time at Eastman. Very quiet and beautiful. Could have been better if sites had been weed-eated. Tall grass and foxtails were our only complaint.

The campsite was perfect: (handicapped accessible, site #23) - Painted "welcome rock" was on the picnic table - Bathroom with flush toilets only 100 ft away. - Water and electrical hookups. - Fully shaded canopy over the picnic table. - Concrete walkways around the entire camping area. - Huge campsite, with incredible views.

Went in the spring. The flowers were blooming and the hills were all green. Very peaceful experience. Only two real hikes to take. The hike across the dam has a nice view of the Sierras. Free showers and clean bathrooms. Well maintained. Playground for kids, and it was a pleasant drive out to the lake through cattle country.

stunning landscape, cozy spaces. Bathrooms need some updates and the hot water was not working when we were there. but we would definitely go back.

April is a perfect time to visit Eastman Lake. Just don't visit when we are there. :<) South San Joaquin Section Royal Rangers spent two days at Wildcat Campground. The grass is green, the rattlesnakes are still in the ground, and the weather is beautiful. All three groups (Atwater, Madera Ranchos, and Mariposa) caught fish this year. The lake was FULL! Camp Staff was very helpful. We had minor problems with the bathroom and shower house...yes they have showers...and the staff took care of it right away. The facilities are older, but very clean. We spent time on the day use side of the lake and the bathrooms were just as nice. They even have showers on the day use side! Whoa! Wildcat Campground is perfect for all of our activities (Compass Course, Weather Merit, Wildlife Merit, Hiking, Archery, Council Fires, etc.). We had a WONDERFUL time and will be back in 2025. :<) Thank you for providing such an incredible campground, cjh

Campsites were clean, well positioned, facilities were clean however the hot water in the bathroom facilities closest to us did not function. Noise level was zero but we did stay midweek. Will go again as the bass fishing is very good at this lake if it has sufficient water in it.

We stayed at Cordorniz Recreation Campsites. We stayed at spot 53 with full hookups. There is a 4 mile hiking trail that was really nice. The lake was near our campsite. We mostly used this site as a station while we explored the area. Some amazing backcountry roads (not paved) through to the town of Raymond. A 4WD makes driving these dirt roads fun. Stay off Avenue 26 as it is closed due to permenent construction. Take Hwy 99 and Avenue 29 for smooth trailer traveling. We camped at Codorniz Recreation Area Campground in a Travel Trailer. Tip for Other Campers: Site 53 has TWO sewer hook ups. The one clustered with the Electricity and Water sticks out high about 10 inches which makes feeding into it via gravity difficult, if not impossible. However, there is another one hidden off to the left about 5 feet away on the ground -- probably covered by leaves. That one is a better sewer hook up for this spot....

Camp host are amazing, very friendly and helpful. Ranger Ayumi was very rude. We had several complaints. First it was pouring rain for hours and we went inside our trailer. We did not have a fire nor were we asleep thankfully, at 930 pm we get a banging on the door telling us we cant leave the fire unattended, there may have been some embers however like I said its been pouring rain and still was so we had to get a water hose out. Then my son in law had to move his truck over because she didnt think he had enough tire on the pavement and last my son had to pay 10.00 to come see us even though we are allowed 2 cars per sight and I had 2 sights because one of the sights I rented had no power. The other sight smelled like someone had used the restroom there and another ranger said some questionable people had stayed there before us. We love Eastman we have been going for years. Never have we had any issues we follow the rules and leave our sight better than we found it. We didnt complain when there was no water in the park nor have we complained when there has been no power in our sight.

Cloudy and cool but a wonderful campground. Clean and well maintained. Rangers/hosts are attentive. We did have loud neighbors come in Friday night and found one guest sleeping in his car right behind our rv.

Codo 11 was the perfect site to camp with family! Just a few steps away to capture a beautiful sunset and another few steps to check out the water. Definitely recommend!

Site 43 has some nice features:It's very close to Restroom #3, about 200 feet. There are two trash cans only 30 feet away. It's well-aligned with the access road, so it's easy to back your vehicle in. The picnic table and fire pit are 10 feet away from the back of the parking pad, and on the same level - no having to climb a hill between the parking pad and the picnic table like at some of the sites in this campground. The view to the east is very scenic. There is a large oak tree right next to the rear section of the parking pad on the west - hanging a light or lantern from a tree branch and angling it just right lights up the picnic table after sunset so you can easily do food prep at night if you want. There's plenty of flat space around the rear of the parking pad and the picnic table to set up a tent.Activities:There is a boat ramp 1/4 mile away, and day-use areas 3 miles away on the west side of the lake. There are hiking and biking trails, and in springtime when the grass is green, the whole area around Eastman Lake is very beautiful, with wildflowers growing all over. It's very peaceful, and the spring season soundscape is relaxing: lots of birds, and in the distance you can hear cattle in the pastures, and coyotes yipping at night.If you don't have a boat, but do have a car for making day trips, it's 90 miles each way to Yosemite National Park, via Highway 41. If you can get up early and get on the road by 06:00am, you can be in Yosemite Valley by 09:00am, and have more-or-less a full day to explore the place, then drive back to Codorniz after sunset. There are other National Forest campgrounds closer to Yosemite, but none with electric hookups that I know of.If you are tent camping, as I am, the optimal season here is about October 1st-to March 31st. From April through September, it's very hot in the daytime, and December through February can be very cold at night, but March is ideal for tent camping, with the spring flowers and green grass.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
