I would have given no stars,if that had been an option. This is the WORST campground Ive ever been to. Recreation.gov. Should take them off their site. No working bathroom, no available water, dump station not working. Washed out portion of camp road. It took me 10 minutes to get out of this small campground. If I hadnt have a 4x4 truck and a travel trailer with high clearance; I might not have made it out of there. The campsite I had selected, on recreation.gov. Did not look anything like its photo. This is the first time Ive ever, not stayed in a campground Ive reserved. To let a posted campground degrade to such a despicable condition; is beneath any Forest Service standards. Luckily we were able to get a very nice space in a RV park in Vernal. It cost us $131.00 but was worth it. We had our Grandson with us. He couldnt believe I had reserved such a bad place for us to stay. We also lost the fees for thi reservation; as we didnt know how bad it was until we got there.So a warning to all; dont go anywhere near this, so called, campground.

When we got up there, we found out that there was no water and only one vaulted toilet for the whole campground. The spot was beautiful and the camp host was amazing!! It's frustrating, this campground has been without water for 3 years. You would think that it would have been fixed by now.

It was a total joke we showed up to find no water any where we was not notified so that we could bring water with us there was only 1vault toilet for the campground I cant believe that you was so cheap that you couldnt put out toilets I was told by the hostess that the water was out since Memorial Day that is pour service I work for a water department and are job is to have the water back on in 24 hrs find someone that knows what they are doing

The registration gave no warning that the restrooms are locked for good because there is no water to the site. No water for use to drink either. Was a horrible stay with no facilities with the need to drive 15 minutes to use restrooms and get water. Found out it has been in this disrepair situation for three years and they still take the full fee. Would request a refund if possible.

Beautiful campground but there was no water, or flush toilets. Only one drop toilet for a large campground.

We really enjoyed our stay at Lodgepole at Flaming Gorge! We used three campsites for a family trip. It is about 15 minutes from the closest marina, and about 25 minutes to Sunny Cove - which is where we chose to swim and launch the paddle boards from. The campsite itself is close to the road, so there is light highway noise, but it honestly didn’t bother me. The water was out at the campground during our stay, which SUCKED. We ran out of water several times. However, the camp host was super awesome and helped us out and we would fill up our large water jugs from her truck. With the water being out, that also meant that the single stall vault toilet was the only one available to use for the whole campground. It was kept clean and stocked during our whole stay. Tent pads are square and hold a decent sized tent - but if you have one of those crazy big tents that fits 10+ people, it wouldn’t fit. Each campsite has a table and a fire pit with a grill cover on it. Firewood can be purchased from the camp host, I believe for $7 a bundle. There are A LOT of mosquitoes in this area, bring all the bug spray!!! It’s close by hiking areas and there is a map of common hikes that the camp host has posted, this was helpful because I could show my group which hike we planned on seeing. (Highly recommend the Canyon Rim Trail - more like a nature walk with jaw dropping views than a hike) The campsites are close together which was nice for my family to walk between the sites. You can hear your neighbors, but everyone was really nice and one night while we stayed someone brought out their guitar and sang - which was really nice too. I enjoyed the community aspect of this campsite, the beautiful views were a short drive away, and it was affordable with access to toiletries. We would definitely come stay again, hopefully the water is back on next time!

We've been staying at this campground annually for 10-15 years. We're really disappointed to see the decline in amenities offered. For the last few years, it doesn't seem the Forest Service is even bothering to try to get the water fixed. They installed a vault toilet, and seem to have stopped there. This used to be the best campground in the area with shade, working toilets, and a dump station, but without water, we may just stay on BLM land instead. We no longer see the benefit of paying the fees if we receive nothing in return.

Beautiful spot if you're looking for something cooler up higher. The trees are lovely, and more likely to have a breeze or afternoon rain. Nice loop of sites.

Recreation.gov listed this campground with running water and a dump station. NEITHER we’re working! Campground host was very helpful in suggesting going to another campground!

The camp was beautiful and the hosts were great. The camp however, had no running water and the bathrooms did not function. We were told after arriving that there was an issue with water. We found that many nearby camps also did not have any water and were forced to get water from other areas for needs. There should be some way to address this or provide water as there was no discount given for an expected amenity.

We arrived to find out the camp host had quit, there is no dump station and the water is limited. We had booked site number 9 but we decided to find one of the first come first served sites. We found number 32 and it was wonderful. Lots of shade and not near the road.

Ridiculous the dump stations was closed. The camp hosts were rude and paved roads had more pot holes than smooth surfaces. Will never use reserve facility again.

It’s like dry camping that you have to pay for….. they dump and water are still down….. I think this is going on 3 or 4 yrs now.

Would be nice if the recreation.gov website reflected that there is no water at this campground. We had to go travel down to Fireman’s Memorial Campground to fill up 50-gallons of water in ten 5-gallon jugs to get us through the week. In addition, there is only one toilet for an entire campground! Unacceptable! In the past, Lodgepole used to be a really nice campsite with running water, flush toilets, sinks, and dump station. Would have been nice to have known about these issues prior to our arrival. I doubt we’ll return to Lodgepole again and we’ll look to book somewhere else.

The reservable sites are right off the noisy road, since it is not right at the gorge, it is better to just come in and get a spot further back among more trees, much quieter. The hardest part of being there is that the water is not running, thus the regular restroom is not usable and though the camp hosts did a fabulous job of keeping the vaulted toilets clean. In fact the hosts were marvelously attentive and apologetic about the lack of water. They should be commended for their good work.

This is a 4 star campground but failing to deliver on it's advertised amenities. We camped in June and water was off, restrooms shutdown, dump station closed, and graywater catches locked shut. That was not what we reserved and not what we paid for. We literally ended up paying to boondock on a blacktop pad. Unfortunately the other camp grounds nearby did not have openings for the 6 days we were there. The first night we arrived we had to travel 12 miles to another campground to empty waste tanks and fill our water. We ended up hauling water several days for our camper and had minimal amounts for hygiene and cleaning due to our smaller trailer. Not what 2 retired people expected to have to do on "vacation". Otherwise this is a beautiful spacious campground with minimal road noise.

Beautiful l campground. Good sites, but with some road noise. I knew the flushtoilets were closed, so I was ready for that, but I was surprised to find that the dump station was closed.

The campground host couple at this campground is among the very best we've met. They keep the sites and restrooms so clean and maintained. These are folks that are working hard and CARE about what they are doing and the campers they are serving. Give them a raise!! Thanks, R

The water was off at the campground and the dump station was closed. There was no camp host at the campground during our stay. Trash pickup was not consistent and trash piled up on top of the dumpster. Once the water is back on the campground will be ok. For anyone looking to stay here keep it mind it is near highway 191 and there is quite a lot of traffic from construction vehicles, trucks towing boats, etc. Everyone seems to be going fast on the highway so it is loud and not very relaxing if you spend time at the campground. Generators were running for pretty much the whole day.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
