This is my favorite campground near big lake. Nestled in a beautiful forest setting this small campground has nice amenities, super friendly camp hosts, and plenty of space between sites. This is an annual visit that I look forward to each year!

This camp site is very nice as is the entire campground. The bathroom was always clean. The campground hosts were very nice and helpful. Took a drive to Alpine to see the elk herds and saw some bighorn sheep on the way there. Big Lake is always beautiful. Looking forward to coming back next year.

This is a neat campground- it's less manicured and feels a little more wild. We were there in early August and there were so many different types of mushrooms! Super cool. My complaint is that they have a few pull-through spots that they converted into 2 separate spots, so we had to drive the wrong way through the one-way loop to park our camper just a few feet from another camper who ran their generator. Sooo frustrating! Avoid spot 14!

Really enjoyed the hosts Mel and Cindy! So friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area. They checked in to make sure everything was going well. The campsite and facilities were clean and well maintained. For first timers like us, there is water a dump station as you come into the recreation area. Beautiful place to visit!

Arrived to find that someone had put a boulder in our driveway (# 11) which reduced our length in half. Mel and Cindy accommodated us by moving us to a first-come site.Could not have been treated better.This is our 3rd summer in Grayling. Very well maintained and very quiet at night.If campers have mechanical issues, Mel has been more than willing to try to remedy any problems when he is asked to.They are always present.We will be back next summer.The fishing was good too.Our Irish Setter wasnt happy with the thunder but the rain lifted the burn restrictions. The staff at the Marina is to be commended too. They too are so friendly and helpful.The 2 dump stations are easily accessible also.Weve been camping for decades and this campground stands out as one of the best.Each site is apart from others so there seems to be some privacy.

Spot was great and well secluded. Camp attendant was very nice and knowledgeable. Word of advice though is to check the burn advisory as the camp had level 2 fire restrictions which meant that you could not have a camp fire.

Besides the camp sites being nice and quiet. The camp hosts are the best ever and this is based upon my over 20 years of camping experience at Big Lake.

The site we reserved was too slanted for our trailer. We could not get it level after 4 attempts, adjusting and moving the trailer. We ended up having to leave it hitched to the vehicle and raising one side, and we were still at such an angle the self leveling unit would not work. We had to manually get it as close to level as possible. We slept with our heads higher than our feet by a significant angle. Considering the site we picked said it was for trailers. I would have assembled it would have been level or close to level. Since it was listed for trailers.

The hosts Mel and Cindy were very welcoming and provided clear instructions. The campsite (#20) was big and clean. The campsite is geared more towards tent camping vs RV/trailer. The site has a drive through parking which was great since we were pulling a boat. We saw plenty of squirrels and had plenty of shade. It's quiet and can't hear any of the lake or main road noise. There are two restroom facilities on site. One is more of the rest stop port-a-potty chamber. There is more modern restroom with stalls and a sink located behind the host's campsite. From campsite #20, there is a trail that leads to that facility which was convenient. There were bear sightings in a few of our camping days but the hosts were quick to alarm guests on site and post a sign at the entry. There is a shower facility a mile away but the cost is $9 per person over 9 years of age.

Great site. Great hosts. Quiet. The best part is that there is no signal.

One of my favorite campgrounds. Great hosts, clean restrooms.

LOVED this campground - flush toilets were a bonus. The sites are big, but only some good for RVs, so check them out beforehand

Mel and his wife, Cindy were very, very helpful and knowledgeable. They made our experience at Grayling very restful and enjoyable. We were on the maiden trip with our new trailer so we were just looking for peace and quiete and some restful days and we found it all there during those 4.5 days.

This was a pleasant surprise! The camp hosts were OUTSTANDING. It's such a nice breath of fresh air to come across folks who care about what they're doing, inform and enforce the rules, but are EXTREMELY friendly. This sort of hosting make any beautiful campsite actually FEEL welcoming. Thank you!

Excellent, kind, and attentive camp hosts. Honestly, we would have had so many problems if the camp hosts weren't so great. They held our reservation for a day even though we were late due to car trouble, and we were so thankful and relieved. They helped us hook up our brand new 2 day old camping trailer when we didn't know how, and gave us invaluable safety advice on towing. They even had batteries we ran out of to help us out! Absolutely the kindest people we've ever met and we will be back as often as we can. The campsite itself is beautiful, clean, and well maintained. Bathrooms are squeaky clean every morning and they have big bundles of firewood for sale. There are Cranes in the high tree tops to hear during the day and night, and its magical. Right near the beautiful lake only a few mins drive away with a full store fied with everything you could possibly need. Surrounded by beauty, wildlife, and good people, this is our favorite site so far and we camp all over Arizona. We were very pleased with this site and can't beleive our luck in finding it. Try it, site 20 is awesome but they all are really. Water spickets everywhere with good water too. Go here, trust me. Dirt road isn't bad either.

Nice clean campground, nice hosts. Jut a little crowded for my taste and hiking trails are a bit of a distance from campground itself
@RobertM1452522 · Camped on Jul 30, 2023 at Campsite #16
The camp ground hosts were fantastic, friendly and very helpful. The campground is very close to the lake and store and very well wooded. The only negative I have was the site we had. It was nice and big but really uneven and quite the challenge to get our toyhauler level so the refrigerator would correctly. We scouted other sites and know which one we will reserve next time, we will be back!

Very Nice Campground just a short walk south of Big Lake. So many trees your solar panels may not work well. T-Mobile reception ZERO. need to drive 10 miles just to roam.Camp Hosts are very friendly and do a great job of maintaining the camp ground. We fit our 35' 5th Wheel into spot 17 although it was a tight fit. There were some really small tent spots and a few that would fit a good sized RV. Each site has a fire ring and a picnic table. There is trash facilities, water spigots in a few places and a couple bathrooms. Also, there is an RV Dump just 1 block from the camp and a general store at the lake. at 9,500 feet, the air stayed cool while it was 115'f in Phoenix and we did not need to run our AC at all in mid July. I would definitely recommend this camp-ground and would stay here again.

Clean sites, well maintained facilities, kind and warm camp hosts. Sites are a little closer than I would like, however theres sufficient elbow room to put up at least two, maybe three tents if needed, just wish there was a little bit more privacy between the site we stayed at(#7) and the closest site to us(#6). All in all, I had a wonderful week at Grayling and will likely visit again in the future.

Enjoyed our stay here. We stayed in site 14, which is RIGHT next to site 15, like they used to be 1 pull through spot and they split them apart by rocks to make 2. When we got there I actually thought someone was in our spot and was waiting for them to leave. Spot 14 is also close to the bathroom and directly across from the camp host, so if you like that, it's a good spot. We walked to the lake going to the entrance of the campground and down the road, and also over the hill behind us through the forest and down, which was actually a lot closer, secluded and had great cell service, got 3 bars there. You'll get 2 bars at the marina/boat store. We were deciding between 14 and 18 when booking but read 18 had some big rocks there,hard to see in the photos online, but the rocks you see there are the entire spot, there isn't really a way to avoid them. Tried to post pics but I don't see a way to do that. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here. Recommend the Thompson trail, which is about 5 miles away, if you are into hiking. It was beautiful!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
