Apache Trout Campground, Springerville, AZ

Apache Trout Campground is located in the Springerville Ranger District of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests (3 hrs 56 min east of Apache Junction, AZ) with an elevation of 9,060 feet. There are a total of 64 campsites. The campground is normally open from the beginning of May to mid October. 63 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 40 and 80 feet. All sites are currently reservable. 28 sites have electric and water hookups. 3 sites have electric hookups. Fees range from $30.00 to $375.00.

We had a great location- wild horses walked right up into our campsite. Driving around we saw wild turkey, elk, and deer. The campground was clean, restrooms were clean and the staff is VERY friendly and helpful. We are already planning our next trip back!

I really want to give 5 stars because the camp is clean and beautiful; but the spot I had was very difficult with parking my trailer. With how close the hook up was to the fire pit we couldnt have a fire going. And if we wanted a fire we would have been parked in the road.

What a great campground. It was a well kept, peaceful experience with all the amenities. Hosts were so friendly. Its close to many fishing spots and only 40 minutes from town. Well be back.

Very friendly staff, we stayed in 72 with a 35 1/2 5th wheel, with long bed dually, very spacious. Quiet campground all the time, fellow campers quite friendly. Cant wait to return soon.

Great location, great spaces, we always stay in the full hook ups and you really dont see anybody on either side of you. You always have an open forest area behind you! The picnic tables are always nice and clean, fire pit are always available and bathrooms are always clean and ready to go. Lake is a close 10-20 min walk depending on where you camp! We saw deer, bucks, squirrels and heard elk talking!! Always clouds up during the summer and rains for an hour or so!! Beautiful location for family and friends!

This is our favorite "long weekend" campground to escape the heat of AZ as it is only about a 5 hours drive. The campground is always clean, and the camp hosts are friendly and accommodating, and have been there for the past three years we have been visiting this site.

Great vacation at Big Lake. had to walk .6 from campsite to water, no problem. The 9,200 Ft. elevation was a little hard at times. Hosts were great. quiet, peaceful get away.

Camp grounds are great, but the kept locking the showers up. After coming off the are, cleaning fish and then heading to the camp sight after dark, only to find the showers locked up..thats a bit disappointing

These are my recommendations for improvements. Better shower heads. Slightly warmer water temperature for showers. A curtain so the water does not go all over the entire floor. Showers open long than from 7 to 7. A bench to put your stuff while in the shower. See Canyon Point campground for an example.

Great campground. Clean, pleasant, and walking distance to the lake for most folks. Nice hosts. The campground is compact, so expect to be close to your neighbors. We saw deer and other wildlife. Trash and dump were easy to use. Short drive to marina. We will definitely return some day.
