The spaces are pretty small, but it was quiet and peaceful, and had a table and fire ring, as expected. The folks at the entrance to the campground were super helpful, and of course, Yosemite was fabulous. We went mid-November, and were lucky enough to be between storms. There was a bit of snow on the ground, and patches of ice here and there. There are several good hikes out the back of this campground, including one to Vernal Falls, which is the one we ended up doing. The beauty of being right there (and not having to catch a shuttle) is that we were up and out at sunrise, and barely saw another soul for the entire hike up; by the time we were heading back down around 10 am, there were folks heading up, but not that many. Beautiful.

Late fall is a perfect time to stay in Yosemite. The crowds are light, the weather isn't too cold and hiking is beautiful. We hiked to Nevada Falls from the Upper Pines campground, which was a challenge but our entire troop completed the hike.

We were so stoked to get a last minute campsite in Upper Pines! Every site has a fire ring, picnic table and bear box. The bathrooms seemed to have only cold water and no soap, but they were pretty clean. We would absolutely camp here again for easy access to tons of trails from the valley and hot showers not far away! Basicallt zero service with T-mobile in the valley. Not an issue if you want to unplug completely!

The restrooms need updating; and some campsites are so close to each other you might as well be friends with your neighboring campers. The RVers do appear to follow the generator rules by and large but they are still annoying AF. You'll still have fun and will meet people from all around the world. Campgrounds are FAIR at best. Yosemite can't be beat.

The site was nice and flat, so I easily got my RV onto the parking spot. And the neighbors were nice and quiet, even the neighbor with several boy scouts in several tents! Everyone behaved. Bathrooms were clean and warm, but be warned, the bright lights are always on, so if lights bug you at night, pick a spot not by the bathrooms. Two things that future visits must understand are these: 1) the sites are very small, so I felt like I was right on top of my neighbors. I ended up spending pretty much all my evening time in my rig. 2) Check in time ends at 4pm. I arrived at 5pm, so the note at the kiosk notice informed me that I needed to check in the next morning at 10am! Since I on a long hike the next day, no way did I want to hang out until 10am just to check in. I found the camp host, and although he wasn't there, I was able to leave a note explaining my problem. He found my campsite a little later and took care of the problem, so I didn't need to hang out the next morning.

Restrooms could be updated, but always wonderful to be in Yosemite.

Its by far the most beautiful campground Ive ever been. Very well organized and very close to trails and attractions. Loved it.

It is what it is. On the one hand you have to be grateful for an option to sleep in a convenient location thats in high demand, but the trade-off is youre packed into slots in a treed parking lot where you hope the people 20 away are respectful. We are the campers that come in late and leave early, and just use it for a place to park the van, and stow the food. We dont hang out therewhich can pose a problem for check-in because if youre there multiple nights and dont catch the kiosk when its open (only 10-4 in the winter) they will give your prepaid campsite away. We learned this the hard way. Even the campground office which has longer hours wont help you. Its an antiquated system set up for managing the campground while saving money, but its a pain for those of us who have full days planned, breaking up our days to drive back to the campsite in that 6-hour window just to prove ID. More unnecessary traffic in the Valley. Hopefully a system can be devised and implemented for checking in to streamline the process for everyone. As it is, if you get there after 4, the rangers have dutifully written out a list of the 100 or so names and campsites of those who havent arrived before 4, and put it on a white board at the kiosk. Then when you arrive after hours you sign in on a clipboard with your reservation numbertho youre still not officially checked in, and they can still sell your campsite out from under you if you dont catch the kiosk when its open the next morning. How about a tiny scanner, like they have at the blood draw labs, that scans your license and takes your infothen youre done. Hard wired to a storage drive in the kiosk? Or some simple idea like that. Certainly the park people who work with an understanding of the process can come up with something thats a lot easier for everyone.

SUPER like always. the only problem was that there were a couple of times that there was no toilet paper in the bathrooms. Also, water was shut off at the back loops.

While the outdoors are for everyone I always try to be respectful when camping around others. This includes not walking straight through other people camp to get to the bathroom. I understand camping near the restroom causes this more and while I usually dont say anything to people when they do this, I wish other campers were a little more courteous or the campground explained campground etiquette a little more. Maybe this review will help spread the word.

Lots of space for each campsite. Just know that there are no showers and some stalls were out of order. Also no hand soap in the bathrooms.

The campground spaces are close together, but the setting is gorgeous. Bathrooms are close by no matter where you camp. Very helpful and nice hosts.

Everything was excellent. I only wish they would provide soap in the bathrooms- come on people of Yosemite. Cant we have some soap? Everything else was just fabulous!

Great location- lots of hikes right from camp. Spots are a little tight- but not terrible. Quiet hours were observed- people must be tired from hiking and climbing.

The camp ground is generally beautiful. Yosemite is an amazing place to visit.No complaints there. Ive been to this camp twice now and stayed 2-4 nights each time.The only negative encounter was with the hosts. Sometimes they were incredibly friendly but two days in a row I turned on my truck (Diesel) before heading out and I was spoken too so rudely diesels dont need to be warmed up, Ive owned diesels and never let them warm up I was utterly shocked because obviously these folks have no IDEA what they are talking about. To drive the machine safely and for the vehicle longevity especially when it drops below freezing, warming up your vehicle is essential. Each day like clock work I started the engine and let it run for only 5 minutes before they walked over and questioned me. Id understand if I was being warming it up for 15 minutes or something but not even 5? Thats just a safety issue now. The other odd thing is they compared my engine to a generator and it wasnt allowed but I looked back at the generator hours and I was absolutely within the window. So again, beautiful area, beautiful site but the hosts were on the ignorant side.

Love the spot and people but generators are kinda annoying, we came for a peace and quiet and underestimated how much people use generators at campsites

Great campsite. Cold night, warm bathroom with tp. Can't ask for anything more in a national park campsite.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
