Yosemite is amazing and North Pines is well maintained and a wonderful location to enjoy one of the most beautiful places on the face of the earth! Unfortunately the campsite reservation process is almost impossible to secure because sites are reserved within seconds after their release and many of those who have reserved sites dont show up, there is no way to get access to the empty sites even if you are in the park. There should be an additional charge for no shows who do not cancel their reservation, all three campgrounds had as many as 7 sites no one was able to enjoy. A $50. or $100. fine above the price of the site might discourage this incredible disservice to the public.

Bring your bicycle! You can travel the valley on dedicated bike paths, away from traffic. Great river for cooling off. Perfect location for exploring the valley. Camping below Half Dome, every view is a "postcard"!

Great weather, great Ranger walks each day. Take advantage to the broad knowledge of the Park Service.

We were fortunate to win the North Pines lottery and secured a spot here for Labor Day weekend. We had site 135, which was an odd site located on a corner where three separate sites converged into a space the size of what felt like a single spot. This corner area would be great for a family wanting to spend the weekend together, but would probably not be preferred by someone looking for a quiet, private time at their campsite. There are other areas in the campground that offer a little more space.

The backpacker's camp in Yosemite Valley is a great entry/exit point for backpacking. I met a lot of great people there who had interesting stories about where they were headed. It can get busy on Holiday weekends. I was there Friday of Labor Day weekend. A big party of hikers arrived at around 10pm right outside my tent, which made it challenging to try to sleep while they set up. Once the noise died down, it was fine. The camp is a great resource.

Unbeatable location to access the attractions of Yosemite Valley! Close to the shuttle stop and Curry Village. Bathrooms had flushable toilets, running water, and one outlet. Camp sites are small overall. That being said, your neighbors will greatly influence the quality of your stay.

This was my first time tent camping, and I couldnt have imagined a more perfect place to do it than Yosemite. My wife and I had driven through the park during winter before, but experiencing the beauty of the Valley up close in summer was something else entirely. We felt incredibly fortunate to secure a reservation at North Pines, knowing how coveted these spots are by people from around the world.We had been eagerly anticipating this trip for months, and it exceeded all our expectations. We brought our Golden Retriever and, while we mostly stuck to the loop trail this time, we still had an unforgettable experience. The campground was impeccably maintained, and our fellow campers were respectful of the rules, regulations, and quiet hours. It was refreshing to see how well the honor system worked here.The bathrooms were clean and regularly maintained, which added to the overall comfort of our stay. Our campsite was just steps away from the serene Tenaya Creek, surrounded by the breathtaking beauty that Yosemite is famous for. The staff was exceptionally friendly, professional, and knowledgeable, clearly taking immense pride in their work.My only wish was that the K9 Kennel wasn't closed so early for the rest of the season, so that we could've boarded the pup for a few hours to explore more of the hiking trails. After this experience, I cant help but wonder why it took us so long to camp here. For just $30 a night, I dont see why Id ever vacation anywhere else. I cant wait to return and stay even longer next time!

Our campsite was very impacted by others (tents). We felt like are campsite are was being encroached on by tents.

Very nice staff and the backpackers camp is located in one of the most beautiful parts of the campground.Unfortunately, the toilets are still out of order. But there is a pit toilet available, which is the only comfort feature you would find in the backpackers camp in Yosemite Valley, for example.The general store is very close and (at least when I spend a night at the campground) was open even after 9pm.I stayed here twice in the last two years before I started my Rim-to-Rim hikes and I can recommend spending one or more nights here.

It's Yosemite. Of course it's great. Spot does get a lot of mid-day sun, so if tent camping bring a shade canopy.

Beautiful location, great trails, but close camp sites.

A group of 6 in one tent drank and made excessive noise way after dark. Finally the camp host and then a ranger? shut them up for the night. Not sure how/why they made the backpacker campground. Other than that problem, it was convenient, affordable and the option to stay there before starting a 21-day hike was appreciated.

We loved camping at North Pines! Campsites are close together but its a popular destination so thats expected. Our campsite was very shaded and just across the street from the river. When we were there the river was pretty low and mellow but very inviting. We visited the end of August 2024 and temperatures were hot during the day and comfortable/cool at night. Theres a 5-10pm fire curfew so we ended up buying a butane stove at the Curry Village Mountain shop to cook breakfasts on. The bathrooms were well maintained and had flushable toilets and running water but there was no soap so be sure to bring your own! There was a drinking water refill station and a camping sink water/gray water dumping station which were both very convenient. Food and any scented toiletries have to be kept in bear boxes at each campsite at all times and we saw park rangers checking campsites and giving warnings to campers not taking this seriously. There is also a shuttle stop just outside the campground that makes it super easy to get around Yosemite Valley. 10/10 recommendation North Pines and we cant wait to come back!

Nice view on mountains. Campsite was close to other campsites. Not much privacy.

Riverfront! This site has its own private entrance. We were able to set up 2 larger tents (6 and 10 person tent) no problem. Has some rocky and slope areas.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
