We really enjoyed our visit, even though we only stayed for one night. The park is right along the Mississippi River, and very scenic. Its well maintained and our campsite was level with plenty of space. We drove over to Dubuque for dinner, then after driving around to look at the beautiful houses, enjoyed watching a two-person kayak go through the locks.

Beautiful, clean park right next to the Mississippi River. I would LOVE to camp again there, but unfortunately, it was also right next to (within 75') of two very busy railroad freight line tracks. There were one to two trains every hour throughout the day and night sounding their horns three or four times as they approached the campground entrance road that crossed the tracks. It was very hard to sleep well and for that reason, I can never go back.

Bathrooms should be updated but otherwise fine

Great value, nice campground on the river. Spacious sites, convenient hook ups. Yes there is a lot of train noise, but we loved it.

It's a locals hangout meeting place. 3 or 4 groups clustered campsites. Trains way too noise. Blare horns too soon too long too cute. It's like the trains are purposely doing it at Grant. Fishermans the trains are way more subtle. Bathrooms clean. Some locals very loud after curfew. I would only camp there Tuesday Wednesday Thursday. Trains still too noise.

Staff was helpful, campground was far enough away but yet close enough to some great sights.

Intimate little spot right on the Mississippi in bluff country! Yes the train goes thru and honks a few times a day but it is just part of the experience of the great river. Helpful check in host, good showers and friendly campers.

Great location along the Mississippi River. Clean park and restrooms. Light sleepers might not appreciate the nearby train tracks.

This is one of our favorite places. Even though we were delayed because of the flooding, we still enjoyed our time. Actually my husband is from Potosi so makes it even better

Grant River Campground is a great place to camp!One complaint: the lights in the shower building are on a timer that shuts the lights off before I finished showering. It is totally dark when the lights go out! I had to find my way out of the shower and go into the main room for the motion sensor turns the lights back on. The timer needs an additional sensor in the shower room to eliminate this problem. This problem was true for both the mens and womens room. People with handicaps could be in serious trouble if the lights go out on them.

Right on the Mississippi River to see barges going up and down the river. Turtles and other wildlife living around the river. While there turtle eggs were hatching (End May) trying to make there way to the river bank. Yes there are two train tracks right next to the campground, but did not bother us (learned to tune the out). Site was concrete and very level (site 3). Bathhouse has two show stalls with good pressure.

Beautiful view, nice bathrooms, bring earplugs for sleeping (frequent train horns)

Solo tent camper, one night stay. I chose a site with electricity and water. The campsites are right on the Mississippi River, so the view from all sites are great. In spite of its popularity, the campground is quiet and does not feel crowded at all. Friendly staff and easy check in.

@AnthonyL127347 · Camped on May 8, 2024 at Campsite #4
The views of the River were stunning. The campground was clean and well maintained. The lady who checked us in is awesome. The train that barrels right by the park every twenty five minutes not so appreciated.

This was our 3rd straight year staying at Grant River to close out the season. Its nice they stay open a week longer than some other campgrounds. On that last day the checkout time is moved to 4pm as everyone needs to use the dump station. We dont find the trains an issue but they are there, you get used to them. Nice level concrete pads and nicely kept. Our site had a faulty 50A breaker. The attendant responded to the problem promptly but unable to rectify it but 30A was sufficient for our needs. Bring your own water but there are hydrants scattered about and some are within hose distance to refill your tanks if necessary. No issues with maneuvering our 34 Class A and toad. Sites are spacious( some better than others) with our site #39 being very nice, just closer to the train tracks. The river is always beautiful. Well be back!!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
