This campsite can no dedicated space for a tent and was very sloped.

Great camp area with access to the Clear Lake Trail. Walked bits of it, then went to hike Blue Pool. So access to activities is great. Stopped by on Labor Day, and the grounds were full and busy. Actually camped the week after Labor Day, and it was very quiet and not full. I would camp here again.

Beautiful scenery and nice camp spots! Canoeing and paddle boarding on the lake was fabulous. Spot 21 wasnt on the lake but had awesome views of the lava fields. The trail around the lake wasnt wide enough for our disabled sons 4 wheeled mountain bike but a regular wheel chair may have worked. Definitely would go back!

Lovely spot. Saw almost no trash anywhere. Bathrooms were very clean for pit toilets.

A little smoke from the fires in the area but not to bad. Our site was great and the campground was quite. Even with the smoke its always great to kayak on Clear Lake.

Campsite was clean, water was clear, weather was perfect!

We got lucky getting a first come first serve spot here. Our campsite felt private and was spacious. The pit toilets are the stinkiest ones Ive ever experienced, which is the only reason I didnt give a 5*. Two beautiful trails near the site are Koosh and Sahalie Falls Trail and Tamolich Blue Pool via McKenzie River Trail.

Site 12 is beautiful. Tall pine trees all around, some sunshine, alot of shade. Great view of the lake thru the trees. Walk down to the water to launch your kayak just below the campsite. The site is not all that private. Site 11 is right there next to you.BUT, CAMPER BEWARE! This site is very sloped side to side (slopes towards the lake) and a large part of the asphalt driveway is GONE/damaged. Leveling your trailer or RV will be tricky.

Quite, relaxing, clean, surreal, enchanting, and fun.

No camp host this summer (July 2024)

You will want to bring your Kayak or SUP, however water is extremely cold! There is a trail around the lake, but no signage. Recommend checking out the Clear Lake Resort nearby, and getting on the water early in the day to see the clearest parts of the lake. Great hiking 1 mile from the campground on the McKinsey River Trail, seeing multiple waterfalls and the Blue Pool. We did not have cell service at all here (Verizon).

We were in Site 007 and it was setup as a pull in forward site and Recreation.gov says its a 30' back in site. We had no way to get into the site with our trailer unless we drove through the loop backwards and it's a narrow one lane road. Luckly a FF site (#3) was open and we were able to get into it so we were able to just move our reservation sticker. But it could have been a day to day move unless without the empty FF site.Aside from that, the campground was great, nice access to the lake our spot in #3 was quiet. The area was clean, we didn't use the restrooms and we didn't use the water pumps, but water was available.

We enjoy Cold Water Cove camping every year. The kayaking is fantastic. Restrooms were very clean and well kept up. We did notice the door knob/lock was broken two times. It was repaired that day. The campsite was clean. We enjoyed our stay at site # 23 for five nights in late June. DA.

Such a beautiful campground with easy lake access. Most good sites are reserve only which is abused by bots in the reservation process.
@JulieR8736363 · Camped on Jun 3, 2024 at Campsite #24
Needs posted the size of vehicle and or trailer that will fit in all of the camp grown. And more shore for boats and other craft
@ErinS5754026 · Camped on May 24, 2024 at Campsite #6
I give this place a 3 because it was full shade, no easy access to water, the only close place to buy firewood is clear lake shop but only before 7:00 ($7 a bundle $4 for ice), and the walk back from the bathroom is steep unless you go the long way. There is a lot of privacy and the campground itself was positively deceptive. The walkway from the pull through parking spot is all broken up from tree roots but once you get up the walkway the campground was very large. We fit an 8 person tent and a 2-3 person tent very easily. Large picnic table and fire pit with grill. Tons of privacy.I recommend the clear lake dingy rental. FULL DAY. I dont know about you but it took me wayyy too long to figure out how to row the boat hahaha. $20 for an hour or $40 for full day. Also, if you plan to go to Sahalie Falls or Blue Pool, go EARLY in the morning. Very popular and very limited parking. There was a man writing parking tickets also!There is a convenient store maybe like 15 miles south of the campground. THEY ARE EXPENSIVE! $8 for a family pack of Oreos, $11 for a 6pack of bratwurst, and $18 for a bundle (9-10 pieces) of firewood! Be prepared to spend an arm and a leg for anything you need. They also have a chevron gas station. I would camp here again but in the warmer months.

Great campground; well maintained! Ground squirrels are unusually aggressive due to hand feeding by campers.

We love Clear Lake and camping at Cold Water Cove, and have for several years. We were impressed with the current camp host and their care of the restrooms. Some times in the past, the pit toilets have not been well cleaned, and cared for and were not very nice to use. This time they were cleaned at least twice daily, well supplied and not bad for pit toilets. We were in site 19, and it was clean when we arrived. Thanks to the present host for all his hard work. Be sure to rent or bring your own non motorized boat to see this unusual and beautiful lake. DA from Florence, ORAug. 2023

We camped here in campsite #6 in mid-July 2023. This campsite is a pull through and we were able to fit a truck/camper (with the camper removed), our camper van and a BMW sedan on the pavement. It was tight but it worked! The extra vehicles checked in and paid the "Extra Vehicle" fee of $9 per night. The camp hosts this summer are very nice and helpful. The picnic table and fire pit are uphill a little from the driveway, but it was all shade and very pleasant in the hot weather. One of our group found a nice place for a tent up by the table/fire pit area. If you are looking for the trailhead that goes around the lake (5 miles), we found catching it down by the boat ramp (to the right of the boat ramp if looking at the lake), or down past campsite number 1, where there is an guardrail on the road, on the right hand side, either end of the guardrail you can catch the trail. THE SHORTEST way to the Clear Lake Resort, is to go to the left at the guardrail access point, if you are looking at the lake from the campground road. The lake itself is breathtaking. We launched kayaks from the boat ramp in the campground with no problem, but we had to drive them down there because it's too long of a walk from site #6. There is parking down by the boat ramp. We did the trail around the lake, it's pretty long and the campground side has quite a bit of lava rock areas as the trail. The other side very nice forest floor trail. The trail strays away from the lake quite often as well. But I'm glad we did it. We also did the "Waterfall Trail" to see Sahalie and Koosah Falls. We walked from our campsite to the trailhead which is just across the highway when you exit the campground, down the trail to both falls and back. It was 4 miles total roundtrip from our campsite. Uphill on the return. The vault restrooms were fine, the newer kind.

Beautiful. Sites are mostly pretty steep and hard to level so bring lotsa blocks, but beautiful.
@RetoR080646049 · Camped on Jul 12, 2023 at Campsite #8
Quiet and clean campground. Firewood easy available. Location is near a beautyful lake and threre are 2 waterfalls (Sahalie and Koosah Falls) just nearby.
@ThomasL2772337 · Camped on Jul 10, 2023 at Campsite #32
Something to be aware of is that many of the sites are not level or are on a noticeable incline. While the site may accommodate a trailer of a given length, in reality it might turn out to be more suitable for tent camping

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
