The campground is next to a very high traffic road. The only good part was the river.

To close to the road. No access to the river. It was all grow up with brush. Not very well maintained. Camp host was great very friendly.

We use Santiam Flats campground every year. This year the camp hosts were so wonderful! Down to earth and they kept the campground clean and safe for the weekend we were there (4th of July weekend).

Loved it, but no privacy between sites. We were near the water and that helped drown out the noise from our neighbor.

I think they need some speed bumps in there. Few times there was car gone by faster then 5 miles an hour the. Host did a awesome job keep the bathroom clean

I was at Santiam Flats campground Aug 11 - 15, 2022, in campsite 4. At first glance things looked great. The first day was nice and quiet, very few other campers on the 11th and everyone seemed to be conscientious of the other campers. The noise from the highway was definitely loud during the day but seemed to quiet down for sleeping hours. Things changed significantly on Friday. The campground was packed solid, no campsite to be found. And the traffic going around the loop of campsites and to the day use area was constant and fast. The speed limit is posted multiple times at 5 mph but nobody adhered to that limit. Because they were going so fast, the dust was abundant and coated my car with a thick layer. The campground has many rocks in the campsites as well. To top things off, the camp hosts ran out of firewood by Saturday evening; I got the last 2 bundles. And the store in Detroit didn't have any either. The hosts were nice and kept the bathrooms very clean, going around 3-4 times a day and keeping the toilet paper supplied. I felt like the entire campground was clean other than the trash overflowing by Sunday night. To get away from the highway noise, I will book a site numbered 15 and up in the future. There are about 7/8 sites that have water access as well.

Online I had checked before we made our reservation that we could have a fire in the fire pit. The temporary restrictions were from July 1st 2021 till December 2021. I had checked the day before our camping trip and made sure nothing had changed and that we still could have a fire in the fire pit, just no charcoal stoves and etc. Drive 2 hours to get there just to find out that they changed the temporary restrictions on July 23rd to having absolutely no fires. We complained and talked to the camp ranger and he even said " that they never ever update the website. " We did not bring no way to cook our food except to do it over the campfire. Big waste of time, money and gas. Also, we had number 8 campsite that was LEGIT RIGHT BY THE FREEWAY. You could hear cars going all night, it was TERRIBLE. We ended up leaving the next afternoon even though we book it for two nights. We only stayed one, so I am looking on how to get a refund for my 2nd night. I would not recommend this campsite at all. Yes it is by a river and if you get one of the sites by the river, I am sure it would of been better. But even sitting super close to the river... I could still hear the cars! I don't mind being out in the middle of nowhere in the forest but how can I atleast enjoy the peace and tranquility of it when I hear cars Going by every second?!?! I could of just done sat on my porch at my apartment in Portland and heard the same exact thing... Super super disappointed with this trip.

Kept very clean. Wish it wasn't so close to the highway though.

Site is clean and there are plenty of close by toilets. However, sites are quite close together with little barrier between them. Our site (23), and it seemed like many others, no longer have any shade. Trees in the photos have been cut down, perhaps after 2020 wildfires? With all the nearby trails closed and the marina already shut down for the season in July, there isn’t much to do without your own boat/ water activities. This is not a statement against the campsite, just a heads up to anyone planning to visit in summer 2021.

Campers at two adjacent campsite insisted on playing their music loud. They were loud,rude and obnoxious to the point we arranged with the camp host to move to a quiet part of the campground. The next day the host said he called the local sheriff twice on these groups.

Close walk to the water and there was barely any visible fire damage from the previous year's fires. It was a beautiful spot. No bugs to speak of either.

Great little campground. The sites themselves were great, ours in particular (#21) was very large and open. The grounds themselves were well kept and clean. The water access was awesome and we had a great time trout fishing with nine caught over two days. Archie the site host was friendly and helpful, making rounds around the campground selling firewood and answering questions. I would say that the beach was a little littered with trash and leftover fishing gear, which is not the fault of the hosts, just selfish campers and guests. We will definitely be back!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
