BEWARE! There was a group camp area that had a loud party with loud music that went on until 1am. No one bothered to shut down the party. Brought my nephew here for the first time, and it was so loud we had to sleep in the car.

Loud and overcrowded with no one there to help

Water access was ok but it is more for boats and paddle boards. People who rented group camping spot felt like certain areas were just for them when it was on the map for everyone. Finally you have to pay for the shower which is a big wow so bring your quarters.

Nice place. Clean.

Showers were definitely not kid friendly unless your little one likes super hot water and sadly theres no way to change the temp of your shower water. Other than that beautiful place, easy access to the water. However a couple trails it felt like you were walking through someones campsite. They didnt seem to mind but for me it just felt weird.

Camp sites were great, just a little smaller than Id like. I also wish they had dedicated trails to the bathrooms instead of having to walk all the way around the other sites to get there.

Our site was not available for us when we arrived. The site had someone else's name listed for the dates we had reserved. The camp host was not available at the site, we were unable to resolve the issue and left. We have asked for a refund and have not received a reply.

Being next to the lake was a game changer. Large campground so there were a lot of people and noise, but luckily we weren't too close to any of the more rowdy groups. Detroit lake is a beautiful spot to set up your chairs and canopy for the day. The water is beautiful and I will be back next year!

Amazing views and very clean and well kept campsites

Love it, so beautiful, nice friendly host. Only downside was having very loud neighbors with a spot light on us (thankfully after ranger or someone spoke with them the next night was much better) would definitely recommend! Dont forget bug spray!

Location was the best right near water and bathrooms centrally located to go on walks with the dogs

The campground itself and amenities are pretty wonderful. There were clean bathrooms nearby and shower facilities. Bring quarters if you'd like to shower. However, if you have a shower bag you can also use that as well if you forgot quarters. We had a water spout nearby to fill our jugs and a water waste hole. This spot was right next to the beach so it was easy to carry our paddleboards out. Beautiful views and Detroit Lake is vast so there was plenty of space for all swimming activities. The spots themselves were on the small side and very close to each other. I would call it cozy at best. This spot is right next to the walking path to the lake, so there was a lot of traffic. Great place for kids as there were many running around on scooters and on the beach. Would come here again with friends if booking multiple sites next to each other. Camp hosts were great at maintaining the grounds and I saw them often. Only con was the obnoxious family next to ours that blasted music on their speakers that could be heard all the way in the lake (we knew because their friends were on a boat and asked them to turn it down). They didn't really listen and played loud music until late in the night. Other than that, my husband and I had a really great time here.

Wonderful location! Well maintained! Could have a few more showers open but overall a wonderful experience for our family and friends with younger kiddos!

Shhhh this is a hidden gem. The lake was nice this year (not very muddy).

The lake and campground were as beautiful as ever; there was just alot of weird issues going on. Nice to see the lake full and the weather was great. Lovely hike to Stahlman Point.

Nice shady campsite, easy access to the lake, beautiful scenery. Not many bugs at the end of May! Everything was pretty tidy and nice.

We camped Aug 30-Sep 1, 2023. It was not very busy at all, right before Labor Day weekend. Our spot was good enough, a little small for 6 people, and they say you can have up to 8 people. We could barely fit 3 small one-person tents and 1 2-person tent. We were in the rows of sites that had to cross through another row to access lake, and paths are clear and easy to use. No fires allowed while we were there, even though it rained for our full day there.The most disappointing part of our experience was that there was an emergency water shut off the whole time we camped. No toilets or showers. The spigots still worked for dish washing and such. But we had to use porta potties the whole time and no showers. Porta potties were average in cleanliness, cleaned once on the morning we left. Im frustrated we were not notified of this before our trip. We had planned 4+ months in advance. Why couldnt we have been told this before arriving? It was a surprise and a let down.

Site is nice, with different hosts it would have been rated better.
@DaleR8695376 · Camped on Aug 4, 2023 at Campsite #7
This would have been a nice stay were it not for the noise. What is it about water that ramps up the music, shouting and late night verbal games?Not likely to be back.
@RobertW1226972 · Camped on Aug 4, 2023 at Campsite #43
We were in the upper area. The camp host was terrible and keeping up with the restrooms. Most of the time no toilet paper. I mentioned this to the other host and all I got was she keeps her own working hours. Worst campground host I have experienced.
@GregW2511215 · Camped on Jul 31, 2023 at Campsite #38
This is a very nice campground walking distance from the lake. I do wish they had a dump station for our RV but they do not. Also, we were able to find a space that accommodated our 26' trailer nicely.

Detroit Lake is a beautiful spot for camping!

Campsite 42 is a short walk to the lake. It is a big site. We easily were able to put 3 tents up. The area with the table is nice and flat with a large area by the fire pit. I definitely recommend this campsite:)

Great place. Campsites well kept and spacious. We were right on the lake so beautiful. Only draw back were that there was no soap in the restrooms near the area were camped. Also there was a coin machine to run the showers so make sure you bring proper change!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
