Place is clean, the camping spots are nice and in great conditions, they are kind of close to each other so there's not much privacy, also you'll have to carry all your gear from the parking lot to the camping area, keep this in mind when picking a camping site.

A clean primitive camping tent site with no electricity. There are Toilet port-O-Potty's available but no showers or sinks. Water can be collected behind the park hosts campsite for hauling to your campsite. The campsites all come with crushed granite platforms and grassy areas around you. Most have large trees for shade as well. Each camp site comes with a grill and picnic table and a dedicated metal pole for hanging your water or shower apparatus. There is no way to park beside your campsite so you must park in the provided areas and haul in from the parking lot. This can be a long walk so bring a suitable wagon or other way to haul in your camp gear. The North Fork of the San Gabriel river is feet away and you can kayak, fish and swim in the water down under the bridge. Kayaking may or may not be optimal based on rain fall and lack of rain fall can make the river very shallow and only ankle deep in some spots and too rocky to Kayak on. One mile down stream from the bridge will lead you into Lake Georgetown. Fishing is fun and easy in most spots but it is recommended you leave the small fish and crayfish to only catch and release.There is a very long shaded walking path you can use that can be quite nice to walk with your dog. Remember that the temperatures in June/July/Aug/Sept can be about 112F on some days so don't forget to hydrate and wear very good sunscreen. The primitive camping is tough to do when the temperatures are high and this location may be be more fun to access in the later months of the year to be able to experience grilling, camp fires and cool fresh air for comfortable sleeping. RV's are not permitted here, just tents.There is on onsite caretaker on the property all the time. Please be kind and respectful to him. Check in's with Rec.org do not require you to talk to the onsite caretaker so please don't bother him during your check-in. Simple use this site to book your campsite, pay for it and go directly to it and set up your camp.

This campground is WALK IN ONLY. This is not evident until you arrive onsite. Check in time was posted as 3pm, but the camp host was not on duty at that time and nobody was available to consult regarding opening gates to drive up to the campsite. The phone at the information board went direct to Recreation.gov, but has an estimated hold time of 52 minutes before somebody might answer the line. Recreation.gov charges $$ in reg fees but does not staff its phone lines. The toilets were horrendous. They obviously had not been cleaned properly, as the smell was overwhelming. Bring your own toilet paper! The only running water was very close to the camp host, and we felt like we were intruding on their space when accessing the hose bib.

Great campsite with easy access to hiking trails

The place is, in general, nice. However, the lack of showers makes it difficult to stay there more than two days for those for those not traveling in RV. Also there should be someone in charge present in place to give indications, and to whom ask questions.

I was not able to spend the night due to severe thunderstorms. I tried to reschedule, but it was not an option. I will try to go again in a couple of weeks.

Amazing little place for a night camping trip. The bathrooms need some work, they are full and the toilet seat in the men's room is broken. Other than that it was a great little campsite.

Great campsites and the host does a good job keeping The Park in very good condition.

Tejas park was very clean and well maintained. Lots of trails to hike/bike with access to the river. Sites are hike in only, they are all relatively close to the designated parking, making it easy to get your gear to the site.

Best campsite I've ever visited by far. Their sites are clean, and when out here you feel completely embedded in nature. Very quiet and clean weather. Some spots are close to the parking lot which provides easy access to your car which is nice. People are very friendly as well

My husband and i enjoyed camping at Tejas Park. It’s a secluded campground with a river & woods to explore. BUT after a few days we found a drug syringe hidden under a thin layer of dirt roughly 10 feet away from our tent. Since we were concerned about other families renting site 01 and children potentially finding dangerous items, we kicked around the dirt and found two more syringes strewn around and disposed of them. I would suggest camping at Russell Park or Jim Hogg until Tejas Park addresses this issue! (be careful if not) we don’t want anyones children getting stuck and catching infectious diseases . #thisisn’tAUSTIN

Great trail, great size plots. Only issue was that the gravel was too rocky for tent stakes in some areas on my platform (#10).

I really like this park. I have camped in Tejas Camp Park at least four times. Several of these trips I arrived on bicycle from the Lake Georgetown Trail. That said, and with the memories of those visits I am sorry to report I feel the park is no longer on my 'favorites' list. Problems: The entrance road has a huge car damaging hole right in the middle of the entrance! Several times I was awakened by the sound of cars dragging on the ground and metal parts being bent and broken. The Pit toilets ventilation system is not working. However the door latches are improved! The Camp Host is a wonderful man! I'm sorry he has to deal with the trials of being the point of contact for this park. The tent pads are eroded and no longer level... all of them, I was there through the day on a Tuesday, and being the only camper there I walked the park to see if there was a pad I would prefer... nope. There is still no way to enter campsites 1 through 4 or 5... without having to lift your baggage over a crotch-wrecking metal guard rail. Come on, put some openings in there so we don't have to park on the county road and cross at the low spot in the railing. The area outside of the park looks like the runoff to a truck stop. Mud, pot holes and trash. I have cuts all over my arms from trying to reach the trash to throw it away. Clear some brush at least!

Great trail along the south bank of the North San Gabriel River and Georgetown Lake. Campsite was comfortable. The coyotes did get a little loud overnight, though.

The sites are set up perfectly to make things easy. The square pads for tents make it easy for level ground with no large rocks to worry about. I also loved the fire pits that have a pull down grill built right in. It is a nice quite get away and not too far from stores in case you forget something.

Attention non-white folks. Attention people who don’t hold American passport. This place is a racist place and hosted by racist folks. I got there at/around 8:30 pm, was walking to my camp site that I had reserved for myself, this guy walked up to me and asked me if I liked the USA, if I was a terorist, and he told me that he is racist. It’s completely dark and I am alone and there’s only the two of us! He was a danger to me. I called the police because his campsite was next to mine, the police didn’t care at all. They didn’t have ven call me back nor showed up. I left the area even tho I had a reservation for two days. Police didn’t do anything. I didn’t feel safe. Next morning, I talked to the park ranger and they didn’t do anything either. They told me to talk to the host. I go talk to the host, he says he doesn’t care. He will not talk to the racist guy, it was between the two of us. He told me to do my own thing. I asked him if the racism is fine at this campsite that he hosts, he refused the answer and said i know better so I should not ask this question. He turned back and didn’t even listen to me after that. THIS PLACE IS RUN BY RACIST PEOPLE AND ANY RACIST-HATER person can hurt you in no time. This is white supremacy. This is unacceptable. You don’t get to treat people like that. What a question to ask?!!!! His question was, “Are you terorist”

Challenging and fun hike. Not overgrown on trail itself. Camping sites well marked at site itself with raised area for placing tent. Bathroom with toilet paper, water spigot outside. Easy to find and access parking.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
