The fire rings need to be shorter. It's hard to have a fire with very little oxygen! Lower the fire rings!! Please!!!

Campground was fine. Ranger patrolling it was unnecesarrily aggressive and threatening. I remember them being helpful stewards back in the day. Now some act like wannabe authoritarian cops.

My family and I stayed over New Year's Eve 2023 and are planning on going back. It was clean, the NP rangers we interacted with were kind and helpful, and the place itself was beautiful. Site 1 was more secluded than the rest of the sites if you are looking to be away from another camp site. Sites 2-11 you can see the other camp sites but there is plenty of room between to feel separate. The hiking was moderate and had great views. Also had great access to the river, my nephew as disappointed that he forgot a fishing pole.

Somebody was in our site when we got there, and no cell signal to call or adjust our reservation. Need a check-in office.Other than that, place was beautiful, peaceful. Great place to stargaze! Would love to come back and explore more!

We stayed in campsite #1. Was nice that its the only campsite on that end of the campground. Only drawback is that is right next to the parking lot for day hikers. It worked out bc we brought the kids scooters and they had a good time riding on the pavement. The other campsites are pretty close together. So if you want to feel secluded, this isnt the campground for you. The creek is awesome to swim in. Theres a couple different areas to splash around. Bathrooms stunk pretty bad. But thats kind of what you get for an in ground toilet. No running water so make sure you bring plenty for dishes and stuff. Overall, was a great trip and we would go back.

Campground must have recently been flooded, as there was trash everywhere, debri piled up in the sites. Spots 9,10,and 11 are walk in over a bridge, this wasn't specified in the add as we sleep in our van and wasn't able to get to our site. I know the bathrooms are just pit toilets but they were FULL of bugs and hadn't been cleaned in months. Save your money and stay elsewhere.

Was just a short trip for me, but it was a lovely spot. Would've appreciated better use of red lights or at least more respectful flashlight use (keeping them aimed low) from others in the area after dark, since I'd mostly chosen the campground for the dark sky, but that's not really a problem with the campground itself. The campground itself was quite nice. No problems with any of the amenities offered.

Super badass. Rose motorcycles down this steep gravel road in the dark. Picked spot 11 on the app. It's back being the treeline so have to baja back on fat road bikes. Pretty chill spot by the river. No skeeters. Frfr. If I'm ever back that way for sure "hitting that" spot again. Go with christ, brah.

Stayed in campsite 1 which is outside the loop with the other sites which was awesome, especially if you want to feel secluded. They have a fire ring, food box, parking, and tent site with no electricity hook up, also have bathroom facility located close to all campsites.

Awesome spot, but would benefit from some kind of ranger/official presence. Both times I’ve camped here, there was someone already in my spot. And last time a huge party raged into the night. Which, hey, party on or whatever, but don’t keep a campground of people up all hours.

Everything was just what we wanted… an escape from the everyday world. Peaceful waterways, small fun trails to explore and bigger ones to take on as a challenge. The restroom was better maintained this time as well! Watch out for the wildlife! Lol. We saw eastern scorpions and snakes alike!

I have stayed at Rock Creek many, many, times. It is kept very clean, and I appreciate the rangers coming in to check in on assigned campsites, and make sure campers are where they are supposed to be. It is a very small campground, so no RV's, but if you like to rough tent camp, or car camp, it is perfect. The only complaint I've ever thought of, is since there are trailheads and hikers, and parking spots for them, sometimes locals will park in the parking spaces and swim off the side of the river that should be for campers only. There is public access directly across, so I'm not trying to own the river. In years past, Noisy ATV's going up and down the road bothered me, but I see ranger presence much more often now, so that is great!

Our campsite was wonderful! It's just what we needed for the weekend. Plenty of space and clean.

I would definitely stay here again. Small campground across the water from the Nemo Bridge. I stayed in site 1. 1 is secluded from the rest of the campground and has lots of space. The other sites are close together but nobody else was in the campground during my stay (late March). There is a train nearby that woke me up at night once and it's a popular area for side by sides which also woke me up once.

Secluded and peaceful next to the river. Met some nice people who were camping next to us. Always like going back to Rock Creek.

The hiking trails in this area are fantastic, toilets are always clean, and the river is gorgeous first thing in the morning. You'll need to bring your own water since there is none that is potable here. Condensation is also a concern here, so bring a shelter with decent ventilation.
@CarrieG6300280 · Camped on Oct 5, 2022 at Campsite #1
The campground was clean, the sites are spacious. Lovely having firepits/BBQ grill there and clean toilets. It was extra nice having it completely to ourselves. And what a gorgeous view to wake up.

Absolutely loved this quaint spot! Campsites 9-11 are hard to find given there isn't a sign, but happened to be the best if you don't mind walking 50 feet to your site!

The campground features were excellent, clean, organized and wonderfully secluded on a Sunday night and Monday morning. Our favorite feature was the river sounds of water rapidly flowing and splashing over rapids all night long, as our site was the closest to the river. But, to our negative surprise, starting around 7 pm and continuing every 30 minutes or so until well after 10 pm, was the far sound of a train rumbling on its tracks and blowing its extremely loud warning horn over and over for 30 seconds at a time, which completely disrupted our idealic natural remote wildnerness camping experience and ruined the beautiful sounds of nature and silence that we drove 1.5 hours to find. This is why I gave this camground a 4 Stars rating.

This campground is basic as described. It offers a pleasant natural rural setting along the banks of the Emory River in the Cumberland Plateau of East Tennessee.

NPS needs to clearly define if this area is first come first serve, or should honor assigned spots. The reservation only says "ranger will not be present to assign spots." This led to confusion. A bunch of city slicks took my spot because they did not like theirs, and because of that statement, the ranger could not make them move. Unfortunately, it caused us to take someone else's spot. The people who had our spot got upset. It took the entire area to sort themselves out to avoid fights. Other than that, the campground is great. It's right next to the river and Cumberland Trail. It was way quieter than state park campgrounds.

Nice campground that is relatively secluded. The sites were small with small parking places but the scenery was great right next to the Obed river.
@CharlesP130 · Camped on Dec 18, 2021 at Campsite #2
Great campground with a bit of a wilderness feel. Can access the Cumberland trail that runs above the Obed/Emory river for about 14 miles. Sites close to the river are very choice. When the river is up makes for quite an experience. Good for a car camp getaway or base camp for challenging day hikes.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
