Site 21 is not fully level and has a pitch to it. The picnic table is down a path away from the platform for the camper. It is close to the bathrooms and a spiket is by the restrooms. You can hear freeway noise but that is for every site. Overall nice site.

I was very glad to see that the campsite had a host this year. It all went to hell the last few years without one. The bathrooms were better but the pit toilets still seem in need of cleaning out more often.

Clean, hosted, good location to great hiking and many lakes to swim in a short ride away. Generous size camp sites. Close to Salmon Creek, still running in July. A few water faucets with running water, was not sure if this was drinkable. Kids often noisy in the afternoon, but quiet by 9 PM. Would come back here.

Nice camp ground. Some of the campsites are near the creek so some noise at night.Very little road noise.

Clean, sites are well-spaced, quiet- most sites reserved but many no-shows

Salmon Creek Campground was very nice and clean.
@TracyP12A9E82D · Camped on Sep 15, 2023 at Campsite #30
Salmon Creek was very pleasant. Site 30 was at the end of the road, which was good. Solar was minimal on the west side of the road. So 29 would be a better choice. All nice spots in that area and clean bathrooms. Sierra Buttes are stunning, even if you can't make it to the fire lookout!! Graeagle isa nice little town close by with great golf courses. Beautiful area all around.

The sites were clean and so were the bathrooms. We were surprised that all sites were reserved, yet only about 2/3rds of the sites were actually used. That was unfortunate for others hoping to use the sites.

It was a really good experience. The site was nice and was full of trees.

Not enough shade in camp 007. Couldn't find camp host as there was no bear box key.
@PATRICIAF93069 · Camped on Jul 12, 2023 at Campsite #11
Camp sites were excellent we go every year because there is s to o much to see and do from fishing, hiking, swimming tojust visiting the local small towns.

Beautiful creek running through the campground. Sardine and Salmon lake very close for Kayaking, fishing and swimming. Gold Lake for boating. The Bassett store is only a couple of miles away. I recommend going toward Graeagle and watch for sign to Frazier falls. 2 mile round trip on a great paved path, 176 ft falls! The Sierra buttes are amazing rising above Sardine lake. Both Sardine and Salmon have a trail to upper lakes.

Loved sitting by the creek, sketching & having a charcuterie & wine. Need mosquito repellent. Downside, No dump station.

Beautiful and well maintained campsites. Pit toilets were a little old, but kept clean. Nice little store about a mile down the road in case you forget anything. We will definitely be back.

Camping in early to mid-October was very quiet at Salmon Creek. You do have some road noise above on the Gold Lakes Hwy, but there's not much traffic. The vault toilets were kept very clean and the service crew came around once a day to put up reserved notes on campsites. There is space between the campsites in the 20's. The sites to the south end are much closer and you will feel a part of other's sites. Some walk in tent sites are really nice and away from the campground road. You need to drive to trailheads and lakes, but they are all only a distance of minutes. The numerous trails in the Sierra Buttes/Lakes Basin area are top flight & have beautiful close and distant views. Kayaking on Gold, Salmon, and Sardine lakes is serene and lovely, in the quieter season. No cell or internet unless you drive toward hwy 70. Bassetts Station is very close and has supplies, groceries and meals to order, and they usually have gas. Fraiser Falls is closeby - an easy 1 mile paved accessible trail. Graeagle, to the NE, is a nice, really small, town with a fabulous homemade icecream shop, coffee, gas, food, vintage antiques, and the gateway to more trails, rivers, meadows, and peaks to ascend. Nearby is the historical Plumas-Eureka gold mining regional park and Johnsville skibowl. The area is gorgeous, and there are better campgrounds close and on lakes, but Salmon Creek gives you a home base in a pristine setting, starting at 6000+ feet elevation.

We were there mid-week in August and it was lovely and quiet. Nice site, good location.
@NancyH8034224 · Camped on Aug 17, 2022 at Campsite #9
The host was especially accommodating. She was very welcoming. The restrooms were very clean. It was a week day and very quiet!

Great place to camp in between the places we frequent during day and night for photography.

Nice campground...clean, quiet, not too crowded (mid-week trip).
@MichaelM541440 · Camped on Jul 6, 2022 at Campsite #24
Nice camp ground. Our site, #24 was great. It’s a shame most of the toilet structures are old and warn out. Need replacing with newer concrete structures. There is one at the north end of the CG but not the south.
@PaulH7895659 · Camped on Jun 26, 2022 at Campsite #27
The toilets were clean and well maintained! Beautiful setting with views of the Sierra Buttes. The campground was quite. Kudos to the campground host.

Bear boxes can get very toasty. But there are bears.

We love this campground! Primitive but good sized sites in a beautiful area.
@STEPHENS264 · Camped on Oct 7, 2021 at Campsite #5
The campground is almost empty in October witch makes it very nice. They turned the water off without letting us know. It would be nice if they let us know the day before so we could fill our water jugs. Other than that it was a very nice stay.
@NafessaC684 · Camped on Oct 5, 2021 at Campsite #33
Site 33 is the best site if you are looking for something big and secluded we have an 8 person tent you can easily fit 2 of those and maybe a smaller tent in your area. It's close but not to close to the bathroom and water spigot. It's the last camp site and is pretty hidden absolutely beautiful campground and surroundings. ZERO SIGNAL FOR MILES. If you wanna look up attractions near by do it before you leave. Don't forget to go to Bassett Station down the road they have amazing burgers and if you forgot any camping stuff they probably have it they loaned us a can opener because we forgot ours. Really nice people. They also have ice and propane and gas. Their little shop has everything from lunch meat to flash lights and toilet paper mostly essentials. We drove around after our trip to see other sites around that area. Ours was the best by far.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
