Only issue was bear locker was broken. Not good in bear territory . Bathrooms were very clean, well stocked with tp and the deoderizer worked great

No potable water and no campfires allowed and the campsites 9 and 10 where the trail is to the water smells like a nasty dead animal.

Crowded and parking was difficult.

Pros: Campground and vault toilet were clean and well-kept. Cons: Campsites are close together with no privacy, campground is too close to the road so there’s traffic noise and, at night, headlights to deal with, and mosquitoes were pretty bad.

This is a magical site that I return to year after year, such a gem. The fire in site 4 was not level and very full, maybe fix that to mitigate wildfire risk?

Out houses were clean. There was plenty of shade in our site but others were barren. The fire pits needs to replaced as embers leaked out of it and we had to stay on top of it.

It’s an amazing destination that I have returned to for more than 40 years. Unfortunately this year due to fires we had to cut it short. I did notice that the outhouses were not maintained well. I have never seen more spiders, bugs and dirt in many years.

We spent two nights at fiddle creek campground, right when the River fire started in 2021. After a first smoky night, we spent a wonderful day just splashing in the river with a 3, 5 and 9 year old. We never left the campground. Everyone felt safe in the river and had a blast throwing rocks, wading, reading, and looking at animals. Because of the high fire risk we decided not to build a campfire. The vault toilets were not impeccably clean, but decent enough and never ran out of toilet paper. The folks changing reservation signs and cleaning the bathrooms were helpful and answered our questions about the fires. (We did not have any cell phone reception at the campground or nearby roads and relied on their info.) Most people on the campground were not wearing masks as the sites are spaciously set up, but some did not remember to keep their distance from our unvaccinated kids either. There were no rowdy groups or parties into the night, only the occasional car or truck in the night on the 49 and the wonderful sound of the river. We would visit again.

This campground is going down hill. I’ve been camping here for many years and the past couple of years the outhouses have been out of control. Absolutely disgusting. Waste was stacked up so high and it smelled so bad. They do not have sanitation come clean out the waste tanks on a regular basis, that is evident. This issue has caused the worst fly problem in the campground I’ve ever encountered. I won’t be returning to this particular grounds until they see to regular trash removal of the grounds dumpsters, and the emptying of the outhouse tanks.

great spot on a beautiful river and close to Downieville. These are not drive up campsites, have to carry gear from parking lot.

Too crowded, and no regard for a reasonable quiet time ( after 10 pm). The grounds were unkempt. It seems this campground year after year becomes less and less pleasant.
@PeterH231 · Camped on Sep 5, 2019 at Campsite #1
Fiddle Creek has nice shady campsites, and brilliant access to the Yuba river. Really the only complaint I have was that, 2 years ago, only one of the two bathrooms was working. It was busy weekend, and it really was most unpleasant to only have one bathroom.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
