Mostly quiet campground, good separation between sites, some road noise which can't be totally avoided. Pit toilets not great and they need to be on top of providing hand sanitizer in the wall dispensers (out the entire time I was there). Have been here many times over the years, always a pleasant experience and not far from Florence if you need to pop into town for anything.

Most of the sites are fairly private thanks to good design and foliage preservation. Mosquitoes are present but not overwhelming. The sound of the cars on the highway and odd animal sounds (frogs?) take some getting used to. Don't bother to hike toward the coast if your goal is a beach. The trails don't go there but they are still a nice hike.

My husband & I love this campground. Peaceful with lots of vegetation. The lakes are stocked with trout, there are pleasant trails through the forest and dunes, the birdsong is wonderful, and the outhouses are very clean.

Friendly and helpful hosts, clean facilities, overall great stay!

Most of the campsites are fairly steep fore and aft. The one we used (4) was almost beyond the capacity of my RPOD to compensate for the steep angle. Although, the word "Dunes" in the name evokes visions of sea and sand, it is in fact in a rain forest. The site was adequate and the weather we had (incessant rain) probably skewed my rating. Oh, a bear meandered through while we were there. Staff went around advising the guests of this.

Just love this place. Dry camping so there's very few giant, obnoxious RV's. Privacy flora between most campsites. On different visits throughout the summer snacked on salmonberries, thimbleberries and blackberries. Fantastic hiking out to the highest dune overlooking Baker Beach. Out and back 5.5 to 6 miles. Nice ponds throughout campground. Affordable place only about 70 miles from Eugene. Nothing like fleeing the heat and smoke of the Willamette Valley to a place 25-35 degrees cooler with fresh air. Already making plans for next trip!

A pleasant campground. The plants and bushes between campsites provide plenty of privacy. Alder Lake, which sat behind our site, was great to stroll around. We enjoyed our stay here.

Toilet paper shortage. Everything else was super nice.

Quiet campground. Vegetation between some campsites creates privacy. Nice, seldom traveled trails to dunes and beach.

Love the campground. Each space has so much charm, privacy and shade, you really feel at ease. The arrangement makes everything (like restrooms, water, trash) easy to access from any site. Will definitely return. I was a bit concerned that our site was relatively close to the 101 but we really didn't even notice highway noise.

Well kept sites. Beautiful area and the Care takers are just super sweet! We will be going back as often as possible!

It was exceptionally clean everywhere, including the toilets. There was a bit of noise from the highway but not bad. I wasn't sure where all the trails went to, no signs, so I did not walk them all. My space was somewhat narrow, but not bad for my rig. I'd like picnic table to be closer, so I did not use it. The campground was not busy, but there were cars and people there for day use that were noisy.

Wonderful campsite. Neighbors were loud and very annoying, but I've come to expect that when camping. Good luck crossing the creek to get to the beach via trails from the campground.

Awesome clean campground. The host and hostess were spectacular people. We will be back for sure!

Upon arriving at my site, #6, I was shocked to find access to the camping spot was over a bridge and up ten stairs! I realized later, after checking the website again, I had failed to notice #6 was listed as "not accessible." I'm 66 and have some arthritis in my knees, so I would have avoided non accessible sites like #6. With a two-week reservation all paid for and a car full of camping gear, I began moving in, determined to turn a mistake into something that would work. Looking back on my trip to Alder Dune Campground, I have to say I had the best time I've ever enjoyed at a campsite! I called #6 "my Treehouse" and had a most wonderful two weeks ever!! Those "lemons" (mistakes) made a most delicious "lemonade" and I'm excited about returning to "my Treehouse" next year!!

We loved the privacy of the sites. The little lake was fun to paddle around and swim in on a warm day.

We came to Alder Dune with another family and friend. Our kids had a great time, there were great trails and a couple nearby lakes. We stayed in spaces 1 and 2 which were right at the entrance of the Campground but 1, 2, and 3 were in their own cul-de-sac which as nice and allowed us an additonal area to be without having to worry about car traffic. The bugs were pretty bad so bring bug spray! But we would stay here again.

This site was super private. We loved our time here!

Site pretty close to the highway, clearly noisy therefore even if the traffic is limited during the night.
@BrianaG8908691 · Camped on Jul 21, 2022 at Campsite #7
The campers next to us, I think unit 8, were very loud past 11 p.m. and had their dog off-leash all night. The campground host said they couldn't do anything about it and suggested we report them to the police. It made a miserable couple of days in Oregon.

The campground is near the beautiful little lake that has a lovely trail going around it. The campground is impeccably maintained and quiet.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
