Dorabelle Campground, Shaver Lake, CA

Dorabelle Campground is located in the High Sierra Ranger District, Sierra National Forest (57 min northeast of Clovis, CA) with an elevation of 5,416 feet. There are a total of 64 campsites. The campground is normally open from mid May to mid October. 42 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 19 and 43 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Fees range from $40.00 to $82.00. Some amenities include swimming. Activities include boating, fishing, hiking trails, floating sports.

Campsite 46 is a good size. We reserved this site to store our boat. This site is right next to the bathrooms so that gives off a slight smell at certain times of the day.

We stayed at campsite 45 and its a double site that accommodates 4 cars. We were able to place 3 (10 people) tents and 1 (6 persons) tent on the space but one of the tents was on a major slope. It has two bear boxes and two picnic tables. The space is slightly secluded from the other campsites so it definitely feels like you are far away from the other campsites. The bathrooms were a bit of a struggle as they are not flushable toilets and the flies were pretty Gnarly in there. There arent any showers or sinks inside the bathrooms. We were woken up by the sound of yapping coyotes at 3am and it lasted for a few hours, it sounds like a very large pack. We stayed from Friday- sunday check out and the Friday host was quite rude and forcing us to go to bed early at 11pm since she kept complaining at us about noise which other campsites were being louder than us and stayed awake past 3am. The Saturday night hosts were extremely nice and funny. We had a few young children so we werent planning on staying up late anyways and especially when they say there is an active bear. We visited end of September and the days were 85deg with nights felt like in the 50s so pack warm for the nights.

I comeback to camp 5x this year because of hosts Jamie, Frank & Preston who make sure the campers follow regulations like quiet time & keep the restrooms clean. I also like that campers are allowed to gather downed wood for bonfires.

Campground was clean, quiet and well maintained. Camp hosts Jamie & her husband truly love their work and are so helpful and welcoming. Our first trip to Shaver Lake area, great experience.

We stayed at site 22 and loved the site itself.very beautiful and a good amount of shade. Its on a culdesac, so if you have littles with bikesits perfect. We were inundated with yellow jackets everytime we brought food out, which did get pretty annoying. The camp host Jamie was the best.so friendly and helpful!

The campground was very clean, it had plenty of shade, and the camp hosts, Bo & Janelle were absolutely WONDERFUL!!! We would definitely recommend this campground over Camp Edison ANYDAY!!!

We come to Shaver Lake EVERY August and Jamie and Frank are always fantastic. Frank works so hard at keeping the "restrooms" clean and the sites raked and ready to go. The one issue we have is that the trees need to be trimmed. They are encroaching into the road and doing damage to our Motorhome when we drive to our spot. Also the water line going up the road by site #59 is still broken from last summer and the asphalt is damaged from the water leak. The infrastructure needs so love which has nothing to do with the camp hosts. The roads and the water spigots need to get fixed.

We liked how campsite #14 was right across from the bathrooms. The campsite was very clean. I would recommend a canopy for this campsite if you plan on going in the summer. My family had a great time!

Clean and easy to navigate campground. Attendants and hosts were incredibly helpful and kind. Lake access is easy to walk to, and pathways are clear. Bathrooms are clean. Wonderful sites and great campground.
