This experience was not so great this time around. The water was turned off and all bathrooms were locked except the vaultwhich are not the flushable ones. So with no working bathrooms and no running water for 4 days was a lil rough.

Wonderful forest setting with well spaced sites for a bit of quiet. Some offer terrific canyon views. Theres a small very convenient store just outside the entrance, a plus in this lightly populated corner of California, while Shaver Lake with its larger set of amenities is not terribly far west. Ill definitely be back.

There was supposed to be running water and flush toilets along with showers. None of the above was available and the water was shut off for the season. What a bait and switch. Very disappointed with the amenities at this campground.

Dinkey Creek Campground was very nice, clean and relaxing. The bathrooms were always kept clean and the rangers were very friendly. We were not advised of the showers not working during booking the stay but we were there for only 2 nights so it wasn't too bad.

Good campsite that's away from the other campsites nearby. Only problem was the amount of wasps that came around whenever cooking/eating. This was during the last weekend of September so the days were still warm. A canopy with a netting would have helped a lot.

I had the worst experience ever, there was no showers and on the description it said the showers are working, we havent shower for almost three days supposedly it was out of order due to season, and an employee named Jason was so rude to my dad yelling at him and screaming and cursing at him when he couldve learn some customer service by helping us instead of coming towards us aggressively my family full of kids had to see and hear this rude employee yelling at us. I do not recommend this campsite Theres no service, no showers, rude employees and its expensive. Ive camp on September 27-30,2024 and it was worst experience for me and my family. The worst thing was that employee Jason hes rude I still cant believe he yelled at my dad and curse at him and my dad didnt do anything but complain about the showers. What kind of campsite is this, Im going to a different site that has showers and good bathrooms Im not coming back here again EVER, nor the other people I suggest to move to a different site.

Lots of large groups camping and no enforcement of quiet hours. It was a competition between two sites on opposites sides of the campground as to who could blast their music louder, all of which started after 11:00 pm. We forfeited our second night.

usually love donkey creek, but this time it was such a horrible experience. when we got there someone was in our campsite and had to ask them to move. Then our camp neighbors walked up to our camp site at 6am insisting we give them coffee because we kept them up all night??? we were all asleep by 10. Then on our last night a couple campsites were being super loud and screaming laughing, and the camp manager came down to yell at me and tell me people complained about saying we were keeping everyone up. When we didnt, we had young children with us for 1 year olds to 5 year olds so we were all asleep by 9 and we told him what campsite was making all the noise and he was so rude and just being obnoxious, and was telling us he could cute us for that and told him to prove that it was us being loud and who complained because it was false and he couldnt prove it was us. overall a terrible experience. on top of that the rangers were always passing by telling us we were going to get cited if we had an trash in the floor and we didnt. DONT GO also there are so many wasps that are there literally probably about 100 wasps just around us and two of our family members got stung!!!!! so bad

Beautiful 3 days in Dinkey Creek! The grounds and toilets were immaculate.. which was surprising since I arrived the day after the Labor Day holiday. Check in was easy. Friendly reception at the booth.

Had a great time at Dinkey Creek. Bathrooms cleaned regularly, quiet hours respected by other campers, no bears sighted. The proximity of the creek was a nice addition to cool off midday.

I thought that the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Especially the guys who were cleaning the restrooms. They gave us free wasp traps because there was wasps everywhere. They also were very knowledgeable about the campground and surrounding areas.

I reserved site 47 and 46. I read before site 47 was one of the best, but I found site 46 to be great. There's enough room for 6 tents. Each of my kids like their own. Lol also next time I plan on reserving 45 and 46. They are much closer together and would be great! Only bad issue is the people across were summer loud at midnight.

The place and environment were amazing! There is a nearby restroom, the campsites are clean, restrooms are clean, there is a creek nearby to swim, a few fishing spots, and hiking trails.There is no connection up there what so ever, I have Verizon. It is nice and quiet. Me and my family, will visit again in the future!

This site was spacious and close to bathrooms and water. Staff was friendly and the general store was walking distance. Loved our stay and coming back to enjoy the water with our kids.

We are regulars at Dinkey. The group site is unique and lovely, and there are many things to do at and around the campground. Some things for improvement: 1. It would be fantastic if the group site could get flush toilets; there are already a few throughout the campground, and it would make the added expense of the group site more worthwhile. 2. The convenience and comfort of the campground is provided in large part by the privately run store. I don't know what the official relationship is between the camp and the store, but the shower services are beginning to fall apart. I believe only half of the showers were functioning and there are simple things like hooks for clothing that are not in the stalls. I'm not sure what can be done, but we found that cleaning up was more difficult this year, and that adds to the inconvenience/discomfort level of one's stay.

We had a very nice time. Our camp hosts were were so very helpful with some campers near us that did not follow curfew rules. Its a tough job and we were very thankful they were there to help.Bathrooms were always spotless clean which was nice too.I love Dinkey Creek. Been going there since I was a kid and have brought that love to my grandchildren. I have been going to Dinkey Creek for 60 years now.

This review is for site 50, loop E at Dinkey Creek Campground during my stay from Monday July 22 - July 25, 2024. Overall, I was happy with the site, but there are negative things you need to know before you select this site.First, the good things: The campsite is huge and largely isolated from the other campers. This means that even though the campground was sold out completely this campsite remained pretty quiet and almost unobservable from other folks. There is plenty of space and several flat locations to pitch a tent. The picnic table was mostly level and there was a good (unmelted) fire ring. Dinkey Creek is very close by and is fun to wade in.Now for the other stuff: There is almost no shade. The only shade is provided by tall trees with tufts of foliage near the top (like a Sequoia tree) that give a lollipop shade on the ground that moves throughout the day. Regardless where you place your cooler, it ends up in full sun unless you move it 20 times per day. The highs every day were over 90 F, and it was too hot to hang around at camp.The reason the site was so isolated is that it is 50 vertical feet lower than the road and 100 yards distant. I was full-on car camping with a lot of stuff and this meant a lot of trips back and forth (and up and down). Too much. Also, you are very far away from the toilets which would be a problem for the ladies.Lastly, the fire ring has a cooking grate, but it's much too high in the air if you use charcoal. It would only be functional if you were cooking over a big wood fire.I recommend this site only for people who wants to do lots of hiking before they begin their hikes, and if you stay when it's not so hot like spring or fall

My favorite activity at Dinkey Creek is swimming in the creek. The water isnt deep at all. And you can see the creek floor in some areas.

My family and I visit Dinkey every year, we love it! The new camp host and staff were extremely nice and friendly. They checked on the bathroom multiple times a day and always had a positive attitude.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
