Lower Billy Creek Campground, Lakeshore, CA

Lower Billy Creek Campground is located in the High Sierra Ranger District of the Sierra National Forest (1 hr 32 min northeast of Clovis, CA) with an elevation of 6,990 feet. There are a total of 10 campsites. The campground is normally open from mid May to the beginning of September. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 20 and 38 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Fees range from $39.00 to $88.00.

This was the first time I tent camped at Lower Billy Campground, and it was wonderful. All the sites were clean. No loud crowds in the evenings. Bathrooms were well managed. I loved the fact that the lake is very close to half the sites. I had a great time and highly recommend this campground.

The camp site is great overall. I've been going there three times per year for a very long time. However, the last two years, and especially this year, the care and cleanliness of the camp has declined drastically. Bottom line is, either the camp is short staffed, or the quality of staff is very poor. On a positive note, I very much appreciate the people who seem to frequent this camp. It seems the late night, loud music playing, loud cussing types, stay at the other end of the lake or down at Shaver; fortunately. Some of us still value a courteous and quite camp, geared around kids and peace. I hope this does not change any time soon.

August 2024. lake was full and small beach/swimming area 30 to 40 ft from camp. Not much shade, bring a canopy. Room for two tents. maybe three. ground is level and accessible. Next door to Day use area, but it is empty on weekdays. Short drive to marina and fishing from the west dam, caught 2 rainbows...

Campground is 9.5/10 as the tent locations are a little close to your neighbors. Bathrooms are alright, a bit of a fly problem. The only problem we had was our drive up to the actual site. If youre driving from Shaver Lake you can choose to take the long way around Huntington Lake which was apprx. 40min from Shaver. The recommended google route has you go up 20mins of a single lane, 2-way road with blind corners and box trucks coming at you. The road is wide enough for both cars but its uncomfortable anything above 15-20mph. On the way down that road, the decline wants to keep your car going 35+ which was even worse.

The campground was amazing. We had some neighbors that were kind of loud and annoying into the quiet hours but the campground was one of the best we stayed at.

Beautiful, the bathrooms are clean. They provide buckets by your water spout which is very nice. I was at at lower billy creek site 8 and it was beautiful, right next to the water. Site 8 is a double site; two grills/fire pits. Would definitely go back. Lower billy creek is also close to the beginning of the hike to Nellie lake.

Oh my goodness! Best camping experience ever! You're right on the water and it was so beautiful and peaceful! And on top of that we got the best camp hosts ever, so sweet and kind and helpful, and so wonderful to our 2 kids. Highly recommend!!!

The campground is incredibly clean and has a beautiful view. The bathroom are clean but they do smell bad due to not being flush toilets but other than that the campground is amazing.

The camp attendants were so helpful, engaging, and friendly. The site was clean and beautiful and easy to access. We look forward to our annual visit and the only thing we don't like is that we cannot go more often.

It was beautiful, relaxing and quiet. The lake is huge rented a boat and spent the day on the water with grandkids, it was a lot of fun. The restaurant has good food the bathrooms are the cleanest I’ve ever seen. We even had a bear walk right past our campsite on the shore side! Will definitely return again next year.

This campground is excellent! Literally steps from the lake. Only 10 sites so it was quiet and beautiful. The campsite was clean and the toilets were also. 10/10

Lower Billy Creek Campground is beautiful. Mike, the host, is top notch. He is caring and keeps it clean and organized. Well worth the trip. The lake was stunning with sailboats on there water. I'll be going here again.
