Love this campground. Only 70 miles from home and paved road all the way to the park entrance. The hosts were gracious and informative. The campsites are close to the trailhead and and a quarter of a mile to the Weminuche wilderness . Absolutely beautifull.

The camp hosts at this campground are amazing! They really take care of the grounds, and provided us with good information upon arrival about the area. During our stay, they were diligently working with the forest service to catch two bears that were wandering in the campground. The campground itself is located in the woods, next to the Vallecito Trailhead 529. Great trail! We highly recommend this campground and look forward to going back!

Average campground. Wood that we bought from the host was old and punky. It would barely burn and smoked a lot. But, that kept the mosquitoes away. Seems that the Forest service did a good job keeping the bear away from us.

Pretty campground. Lots of trees and shade. Camp host was friendly. It was pretty buggy while we were there. Great hike adjacent to the campground.

WONDERFUL TIME! Our campground was further from the river, Loop D. Initially, we were disappointed that we wouldn't be near water but we were pleasantly surprised in the end. Our campground/loop was less populated/trafficked rendering it incredibly quiet/peaceful. Notable was the clean bathroom (despite composting toilets) and nearby water spigot. Love this campground and look forward to returning!!! THANK YOU HOSTS/PARKS SERVICES.

I love Vallecito campground and come here every summer, if possible. Vallecito Creek is beautiful and the hiking trail into the Weminuche Wilderness is perfect for us and our dogs. The campsites are generously sized so you are not on top of your neighbors. Enormous pine trees are everywhere! My only recommendation is to enable more of the electrical sites to be available for online registration. Most are on a first come first serve basis. We drive 9 hrs to Vallecito and feel more comfortable having a registered site. In the past, we booked a site online and traded up for an electrical site when we arrived. This year that process wasnt available. I spent too much time talking to the camp hosts and trying to cancel my registration online. It was a big headache.

Great campground.Vault toilets were stinkier than most, although looked surface clean. Needed to be pumped out more frequently?

Janie and Jason were great hosts. They were very helpful and kind. They gave us handouts about local attractions and made everyone smile

My wife and I travelled from Florida and absolutely loved the campground. Lots of room in each site. Beauty was all around us. It was quiet. The sites are far enough apart that you really didnt sense the crowded campground feel of most places. The hosts were extremely helpful and friendly which is huge for us, as a lot of places weve been were ruined simply by a bad camp host. The trails are very nice to hike and the river was so awesome to see, hear, and explore. Being only 15 mins or so from the market made things easy to get to. I really cant wait to go back. It was beyond a great experience!

lots of mosquitos and ticks so make sure to bring bug spray. besides that, it was a really nice campground. every site was spread out enough and was a quiet at night. the bathrooms were clean and smelt fine. the younger hosts were super friendly and gave us great tips on where to visit and the other hosts were nice as well. loved being close to the river and a hiking trail. i would come here again if i was ever in the area.

This was the perfect campground for our first experience with our new travel trailer. The campground is in a forested area with room between each campsite. The bathroom was very clean as was the entire campground. The camp hosts were very friendly and helpful.

We come here every year. Quiet, Beautiful, Serene, Glacial clear water in the river, Stunning Mtn Scenery. Vault toilets are clean. Minimal cell service is wonderful

There are a lot of nice sites. However, there are also a lot that you would be disappointed in. Small, high sun exposure and close together. Also, rarely saw camp host and when you pass by their location it was mostly "off duty" posted. Generator hours 10pm-6am??? Very loud generator allowed to continue use. Not cool.

The odor in the bathrooms was very strong. The campground was nearly so I wondered why the men's side in one unit was locked. Also, one of the water accesses was capped off making it a long walk for fresh water. The hosts were very friendly and visible throughout the day.

I was really looking forward to staying here since I've been told it's a great spot. Unfortunately my entire stay was ruined by a large group in the campground being ridiculously loud, camp host just said to tell him if they were being loud after 10pm. They got louder throughout the night and I couldn't find the host and nobody answered when i knocked on the RV they were in. Eventually a couple other campers came to help me get him-- I'm pretty sure he was completely asleep. I'm incredibly disappointed, this ruined my entire experience at the site.

campsite: The maps of the site are not accurate with relation to the sites and the vault toilets. I picked our site, b16, thinking it was far enough away from the toilet, however upon arriving I learned it was about 10 feet away. The smell was atrocious and constant. The vaults were at least 3 quarters full. Sites b17 and b18 were also noticeably closer than the maps indicated. Camp host: Our camp hosts were very nice and able to find us a site that was not 10 feet from the nearly full toilets. One host also brought us an extension cord to re-inflate our air mattress that had a slow leak.Camp rules: Saturday a group of at least 8 college-age kids occupied a site on loop C. Their partying was loud and began early in the day. Around 7pm they were still going strong. Lots of loud music, yelling and shouting. At 10pm I expected a camp host to make the rounds of the camp, hoping they would shut down the party. They did not. at 10:30pm I had gone to throw trash in the bin near the party camp. They were still shouting and yelling, playing beer pong. I came across a young girl in a neighboring camp who was terrified of the party group. Her camp was adjacent to theirs. She was alone and traveling across the country and was hoping to get a good nights sleep prior to the next day of driving. She had spoken to the camp host earlier in the day about the noise level, but he claimed that since he couldn't hear anything at this site, clear across the entire campground, that there was no issue. She had just returned from the camp host site, but could not get anyones attention. I went with her back to the camphost and knocked on the door. He answered, clearly annoyed by my arrival, and explained to him that the partying was going on beyond quiet hours. Minutes later we saw him driving up to the site and presumably shutdown the party. We didn't hear anymore noise that night.Most campers do not want to police noisy neighbors, so it is one of the duties of the camphost.

Almost all sites are dry camping. We enjoyed our stay though. We had plenty of space to park our 36' fifth wheel. Plenty of water spigots throughout the park. We used our 2 generators to power our needs during our 7 day stay. There is a dump station nearby. Just google rv dump stations near me for directions. There are lots of trails for hiking. You can also hike down along the river which is beautiful. Nice spacious campsites. Campfires were allowed at the time of this posting. Firewood was sold at the camp host site.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
