The view here is breathtaking!!! Like the description said I would definitely recommend a 4WD vehicle going up the access road. My sedan made it but it was very steep and rough. Everything was great though!

This was our first time at this lookout and we had a fantastic time. The road up is in good shape overall though the hairpin turns are definitely a consideration (our Outback did fine but a bigger vehicle might have problems). The lookout is in great condition, just a little sparse inside. No signs of mice so we slept on the floor with our sleeping bags & pads. The views are *stunning*. We had a phenomenal sunset and sunrise with the unexpected delight of a gorgeous full moon. Also, beautiful wildflowers in late May. No cookstove or heat source so plan to bring a camp stove and to bundle up! We brought our camp chairs and sat out on the deck much of the time. It was so peaceful and beautiful. Overall, a great experience.

This lookout had the best views out of the 6 others I visited this season. Dont overlook the fact that there is not a bed. Also, there is not a picnic table which made meal prep a little more challenging.

Amazing place to stay! The views were incredible and the stars were so bright at night. Loved it and would love to do it again.Just make sure to follow the directions on the recreation.gov website. Do not trust google maps. It will take you on a wild journey :)

Acorn Woman Lookout was amazing! One of the cleanest fire towers I’ve stayed in. Had an incredible view of the stars at night & the most perfect weather during the day. The last mile up to the tower had some pretty sharp turns but plenty of room to navigate them so don’t panic! Would love to visit again :)

Acorn Woman Lookout has breathtaking views of the Applegate Siskiyous that can be enjoyed from the comfort of the lookout. The rustic charm of the historic structure provides an enjoyable retreat and a great way to take in the views, the birds, butterflies and wildflowers that call Acorn Woman Peak home. The Siskiyou Mountains Ranger District does a great job managing the lookout and the recreational experience is excellent. Just bring your basic needs and water and you'll be good to go. Make sure to read the information provided in the lookout to learn more about the history of the lookout and the ecological importance of this incredible region!

We visited at the end of August. The smoke offered incredible filters on the 360 degree view from the lookout.

Would have been 5 stars if not for smoke. Book before August IMO. Pretty standard here in S. Oregon as far as smoke goes this time of year.

This 4 day/3 night adventure during 4th of July weekend was exactly what I was looking for. Squaw Lakes is a great place to spend the day swimming and soaking up the sun but it is a 40-50 minute drive even though you can see it clearly from the lookout. Worth the drive but be prepared. I did not mind at all but some of the photos online shows a bed which is no longer there so bring your gear to sleep on. I went on the Charlie Buck/Baldy Peak hike which was listed as moderate on Trails.com. I have hiked a bit in my time and would say this is above moderate just as warning. The Sunrises and Sunsets are absolutely amazing and so peaceful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Beautiful views! Apparently there have been issues with flat tires driving up to the lookout, and we joined that club the final night. When packing up my fiancé discovered she had been sleeping on top of a scorpion (in between her sleeping bag and sleeping pad) so bring a cot if you're so fortunate. Great lookout in need of a name change

This lookout features immaculate views, an incredible night sky, nearby trail that is well-maintained but not often in use, and an easy drive up right in from of the facility. I'd camp here every opportunity I get and you should too.

We had an AMAZING time at Squaw Peak. The views are absolutely incredible. We had a fun adventure with our kids hiking, exploring and playing games. They actually asked if we could please move to the mountains!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
