A favorite since the 1970's.

Garbage everywhere. I picked up paper, plastic, propane tanks, ice bags, and other miscellaneous garbage all over our site. There were also hundreds of cigarettes butts, but I wasn't about to touch those. The roads and sites are in poor shape, and many are not even usable. Love the lake and have been going there for 30 years, but we'll never go back to this campground again.

The camp site was listed as a site for a large tent. Upon arrival the site we had did not have a space large enough for our tent... and on a good slop. Very beautiful and peaceful. Would camp here again. But will make sure the camp site is flat! :)

Running Deer is a wonderful campground, one of my favorites. The grandkids love it too due to the many activities available.

Camp ground was beautiful. Don’t side no camp host. We had a reservation and when we showed up someone was in our campground. He was rude and hateful when I told him I had reservations. He flat out refused to move or leave. Thankfully a maintenance man was coming through and told him he had to move. Still full of attitude. Another camper came and told us that someone had an emergency and left. We just went ahead and took that empty one. Overall the experience was my moms bucket list and we made it happen for her!

I have been going to this lake for over 40 years. Love the campgrounds, fishing, biking, and hiking. This year having no water made it a bit of a challenge but we survived and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The last few years we have had a large family reunion and this campground was perfect for our gathering. My only disappointment was that we had bear in our campsites every night as well as did others in the campground. I know bear are up here. We always have them every year but this year it was particularly bad. We put away all of our food and know what needs to be done to deter their visit. Not all of the sites have bear boxes so we hope to have those next year. My deepest concern is that the bear are not afraid of people at all. Even with no food out they roam the sites and are not the least bit concerned when we yell, honk horns, or make lots of noise. I would hate to have to wait until someone gets hurt before something is done to protect the campers (especially small children) from the bear. Please consider some of the comments I have expressed. I spoke to many other campers this year that expressed the same concerns. It seems that this year is one of the worst that I have personally experienced.

The water was fairly low this visit so we had to drive to a different campground and use the day use area for swimming and boating. We also encountered a large brown bear both nights of our stay. The bear tournamented the entire campground the second night. It continued to return, flipping our icechest and taking food. The campers were on high alert. Campground was clean but the bear did get into two dumpsters spreading trash.

Everything was pretty nice some of the campgrounds had a lot of rough dirt where a tractor had been through and trees down. The sites by the lake had no bear boxes and a bear came and raided us. Please install bear boxes.

We love camping here. The only problem this time was that the bathrooms were closed and we had to use 2 outhouses for the whole camp ground which was filled. 2 outhouses for both men and woman which became quite nasty even though someone came daily to clean them.

The campground was very empty which was great. The wind picked up every morning about 9:30 and was cold enough that you wouldn’t want to be in or on the water really.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
