The campground was well taken care of with a paved entrance for each site. The site I chose, #35, had plenty of space for my tent. There was enough shade as well as the afternoon sun filtered through the trees. The bathrooms in my unit were unavailable to it was necessary to drive or walk a bit to use the flush toilets. There is no vault toilet in the 4th circle. The bathrooms in the 3rd circle were clean. I really enjoyed camping here and would certainly consider a return trip.

The bathhouse and toilets were closed down for the rest of the season because a pump broke. So instead of fixing it like any normal person, would they just figured theyd let it go till the end of the season. And they refused to give refunds if you decided to leave because the bathrooms werent working. They did, of course had really disgusting Porta Johns With their smelly blue water in front of the bathroom. Not a good camping experience.

As usual, my Labor Day stay at Sylvania was wonderful. Such a beautiful place. Campers do need to know that the showers in the day use area do not work, and the flushies in loop 4 are closed due to an electrical issue. There is no expected date for the repairs to be completed.

Beautiful area, good campground - not jam-packed. Good spacing on sites.

Sites are large and lots of privacy. Dark skies . Some sites offer electric.

After nearly five years the beautiful, renovated shower and restroom facility remains closed. I cant understand how hard it could be to get the water working. NEARLY FIVE YEARS. Increased funding for parks and forests. Cant get water to run !! Really?? Im starting to think its not a lack of ability, its a lack of desire.

Very peaceful and beautiful campground. Functional showers are needed and more sites with 30A power would be fabulous.

We will never go back to this campground! Massive amount of mosquitos and while showers were listed amenities, they were located far from the camp ground area and men's and women's were closed for renovation.

Beautiful and large campsites. Many lakes and falls nearby for fishing and exploring. Nice, clean restrooms

Beautiful campground. Very well maintained. Be sure to look at your camp site when booking as some sites are more shaded than others as well as Starlink reception.I woud absolutely stay here again.

We camped at one of the electric sites at Clark Lake and had a wonderful time. There were a few mosquitoes as expected but the hiking trail had a great breeze from the lake so it was awesome. Kayaking on Clark Lake was wonderful. Would love to come back!

Great campground host, beautiful sites.

Great campground hosts, however women's showers not working again. This is not the hosts responsibility.

We love the campground and the quietness and the lake, but the mosquitos are absolutely terrible. I feel that if some brush cutting was done or spraying it would be as bad. There were times we couldn't even leave our camper and never was able to have a fire the whole time we were there. I'd that problem was worked on it would be one of my favorites but unfortunately we will not be back because of this issue unless something is done.

This was our first time to Sylvania to camp and it truly was beautiful. It rained 4 of the 6 days and the mosquitoes were voracious, but that is Mother Nature for you! It was very sad to see the entrance office unattended as that is always such a welcome. And not having the showers open was a bummer. Hoping our next trip will find both of these facilities open. Thank you.

Nice quiet, clean campground. Host was annoying with hid electric scooter and making sure to tell us not to take our side by side out of the truck. You shouldn't assume a sixtyish years old couple would break or don't know the rules. Know your audience better.

Beautiful sites with screening between sites. Very wooded and private. Be prepared for mosquitoes! Due to the shade and woods they were worst here compared to other UP forestry service sites.

Generator use continues to be a problem at National Forest campgrounds. No national policy, just open to each concessionaire as to the hours of use. This type of policy is not compatible with having a quality camping experience to enjoy quiet and solitude of the outdoors. Their policy of allowing each concessionaire to determine the number of occupants, vehicles, and camping units per site also affects the quality of ones camping experience.

The Clark Lake area in Sylvania is a great place for paddling. The campground has 48 very nice sites and is quiet. However, there could be more electrical sites as there is only one on each of the four loops.

I would have gladly given the experience an excellent rating if only rating the campground, which is managed by a private concern. The hosts are friendly, helpful, and keep the campground and it's facilities in 5-star condition. We have been camping in Sylvania for more than 25 years at least once, and many times 2 to 3 times a year. Up until the mid 2000 teens the showers, which are managed by the Forest Service, were of old style locker room type and were becoming in need of upgrading. Finally they were upgraded which took them out of service for an entire summer, which while inconvenient, we still would have given a good rating for the campground for our annual trip. Why wouldn't you do this in the off season? So along came covid, and the Forest Service decided it would be too difficult to keep the showers open even though the campground, which again is managed by a private concern, was able to stay open and the hosts were able to keep the restrooms open and everything operating in as good a way as ever. Sadly the forest service has not seen the need to restore services to at least some of the facilities it is responsible for to the same level as they were prior to the pandemic, which is namely the showers, occurring even though we have not seen any reduction in the fees they expect to collect. While they indicate this is due to a labor shortage one has to wonder how the campground is able to operate as the five star operation we feel it is. They no longer staff the entrance station while we don't see this as an inconvenience, thankfully again the excellent campground hosts are available to answer questions from new campers. While we will continue to use this wonderful facility, hopefully for many more years, we are concerned with what seems to be a lack of urgency to restoring the prior services and whether this may be the direction it is heading.

A very nice park for camping, beautiful setting.

It was odd that the camp host was not around except 2 evenings. No one at the entrance to the park and the visitor center for the Ottawa National Forest was not open.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
