Spectacle Lake Campground, Eagle River, WI

Spectacle Lake Campground is located in the Eagle River-Florence Ranger District, Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest (1 hr 53 min northeast of Wausau, WI) with an elevation of 1,769 feet. There are a total of 34 campsites. The campground is normally open from the beginning of May to mid October. 33 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 25 and 40 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Fees range from $15.00 to $18.00. Some amenities include drinking water, boat ramp, swimming, restroom. Activities include boating, fishing, hiking trails, floating sports.

This campsite is very clean and not super busy. The sites are great for a small camper or tent camping but dont plan to bring in anything bigger than a 36 rv in any of the sites. The nature trail to Kentuck lake is a nice walk. The beach is nice and big for families to swim but the swim area is in front of the lakeside sites so if you dont have a lake side site you feel kind of like you are bothering the lakeside site campers. The rules say no noise from 10pm-6am but generators ran nonstop and people party every night until 1:00am.

The site was located across the road from the beach. It was spacious and fit our camper and a big tent. It was partially shaded, so was comfortable even with temperatures in the high 80s. The picnic table and fire pit were in good condition. The restrooms near the campsite were spacious and clean.

Quiet campground only about half full on labor day weekend. Clean rest rooms. Only second time using national campgrounds but love the peace and quiet.

Love this place. Back to nature. Very clean they come around and clean the pit toilets everyday during the season.

We love Spectacle Lake. The Lake itself is so nice and clean, and our lab loves it. We like being able to use our generator. The only thing that keeps me from classifying Spectacle as five stars is our cell phone coverage. We have AT&T and can't really call, text, or even use cellular data with any reliability. Obviously, we don't go camping to use the internet, but we do like to keep in touch with our kids and like to have a balance between tech and no tech.

Great campground! The bathrooms were clean, the beach was welcoming and the sites were lovely. There is a fishing pier and a hiking trail that go to a neighboring campground on a different lake.

Was a good camping experience overall, sites are not very secluded though. Enjoyed the fishing- caught some largemouth bass- but were all pretty small fish. Saw lots of bluegill also- but none were worth keeping. Positive side of it was that we did catch fish. Good place to take youngsters fishing- they will catch fish if you use worms/ minnows. No dock or pier to launch boats. May visit again soon but will fish Kentuck Lake which is right near there- has better fishing for larger fish. Was plenty of firewood available if you like to collect your own- also some for sale. Was a lot of open sites available- campground was barely half full. Beach not really sandy- water was warm- not as clear as we thought it would be. Enjoyed it....
