Coon Creek Campground, Ponca City, OK

Coon Creek Campground in Kay county is located 1 hr 3 min north of Stillwater, OK with an elevation of 1,035 feet. There are a total of 54 campsites. The campground is normally open from mid March to the end of October. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 30 and 80 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. All sites have electric and water hookups. There is a fee of $22.00 per night. Some amenities include shower, dump station, boat ramp, flush toilets. Activities include boating, fishing, hiking trails, floating sports.

Made a reservation at site which had a dead electrical box. Most of the surrounding sites were empty so l moved next door with a functional box. The host soon came around to say l was in a wrong spot. I mentioned that the right spot was without power and that l needed power. He then said I needed to see the maintenance tech to fix the problem. I said l didnt know where he was or how l could hold of him. This was not satisfactory to him and l should follow the right procedure. That would have made sense had the campground been busy but as this was late in the season it did not seem necessary -especially since l was only staying two nights. It was a hassle that could have easily avoided.

The campground was clean and well kept. The camp host was very involved with keeping the place area neat. Campsite spacing was decent also. Enjoyed our stay immensely.

Very clean well taken care of. Nice wide paved roads. Restrooms and showers very clean. Sights are very level. Nice view of the lake. Camp host made routine rounds all day long.

This is a beautiful campground with large lots and plenty of shade trees. We had site #22 which had an awesome view of the lake. We saw a bald eagle flying around our first afternoon and spent hours watching the pelicans and herons.

Sites are nicely spaced, many with a view of the lake. Water level was down, so sites on cove side had no water view.

Although this was just an overnight stop while traveling, it would be a fine boating/fishing destination. It was a very well-kept campground in a nice, breezy lake-side location. The bathrooms/ showers were clean & fully functional. We had water & electric hook-ups & the sewage dump site was easy to use & included in the fee.

We stayed at Coon Creek on July 21-24, 2024.PROS: We were in Coon Creek Site 035 with a nice view of the lake especially as the sun rises and reflects off the water. Spacious site allowed us to set up Gazelle gazebo for our twin 14 y/o grandsons to use during our stay. The fire pit was good as well as the picnic table. Water pressure was adequate.CONS: There was a washout along the width of the site entrance that made it difficult to back our trailer and tow vehicle smoothly into the site. Fishing is difficult without a boat as majority of the shoreline is lined with significant sized rip rap that make it difficult to get down to the water line, so we were limited to fishing near the two boat ramps and docks.Wasps were prevalent around our trailer and would get into our tow vehicle.The electrical 30A pedestal socket was in need of maintenance as it would periodically loose connection with our EMS.Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and will probably return in the future.

Coon Creek has deteriorated so badly; grass and weeds were not mowed, a totally dead tree hung over my camper, it was very unwelcoming and depressing. I left within 18 hours and drove to another campground in Oklahoma.

Love this campground. Site 29 beautiful view of lake.. Long site big enough for my trailer & 2 vehicles. Restrooms just across road where very clean. Definitely be back.

Had spiders everywhere the fire pit was in a bad area picnic table had burn areas everywhere the prep table was falling over the best thing about the spot it was close to the water great view
